Just booked in Detroit

Just booked in Detroit
Walk to Belle Isle, 6 min drive to downtown! A spacious 1BR corner loft overlooking the river and two parks. Lots of light and beautiful view. Convenient location off Jefferson Ave and Detroit's Riverwalk. Gated parking for one car. First time visitors to Detroit and city regulars will enjoy using my loft as a base of operations. I've been a contributing author to Wildsam Field Guides, an eclectic guidebook publisher, and have great recommendations for most cravings in this unique city.
I have a few spaces in Detroit. If this loft is unavailable, check one of my other cool spots: https://www.airbnb.com/users/6405993/listings This loft is beautiful, open, and full of light. A perfect retreat in Detroit. I grew up in Montana, lived in India for a few years, and ran a journalism startup in Detroit called Jaunt, so I have decorated my place with remnants of my travels. I also contributed to a Detroit guidebook called WildSam Field Guides, so I can help you put together a good itinerary or fill any holes you might have. I mostly live on my sailboat during the summer and I teach Marine Science on a sailing school vessel. The loft is all open except for the bathroom. The bedroom is separated by a wall without a ceiling. The kitchen has all the basic essentials and utensils plus coffee, tea, cereal, oatmeal, etc. for breakfast. I have an HDTV with Blu-Ray, Roku, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and an HD OTR antennae for NBC, ABC, FOX, etc. Then there's the bed. Queen and super comfortable - I splurged on the bed because good sleep is really important to me. For extra guests, there is a queen pull-out sofa in the common area. The apartment can accommodate up to four (two in each queen bed) but you're starting to get a little cramped. I will decline requests for greater than four people unless you have a special circumstance. There are two A/C units: one window-mounted right next to the bed and the other in the living room space. They do a good job on the loft 90% of the time, but if the sun is glaring and it is scorching hot, they won't be able to create the refrigerated A/C frigidity we are used to with central air. The bedroom unit works perfectly if you shut the door to the common area. In the winter, you can turn the heat up as much as you like and make it toasty warm.
I moved here in October, 2014 from the nearby West Village area where there are a few great new restaurants, like Craft Work, Detroit Vegan Soul, and Red Hook Coffee. The loft is on the Riverwalk, which is a bike/walk trail connecting you to downtown and Eastern Market via the Dequindre Cut, a converted rail line that runs off of the Riverwalk. I am also walking distance to the Belle Isle bridge. The building is kitty corner to a Coast Guard base, a U.S. Federal building, and the offices of a private security firm. The streets are lit and other residents of the building are frequently coming and going. I have always felt that the area around where I live is quite safe.
  • Beautiful loft apartment in a lovely part of the city overlooking parkland and Belle Isle. Super comfortable bed and all the amenities needed for a great place to stay. Definitely a tricky city to navigate without a car but we used Uber right across the city and it worked out perfectly.

  • The appartment is really nice and spacious. We were provided with fresh towels and sheets at our arrival. Although Thane wasn't available when we arrived, which was late in the evening, he arranged for someone to open the appartement for us and to show us everything. It is located near to the river and to bell isle which is a lovely place to go jogging or have a nice view of Detroit. Thane was a perfect host and provided us with good recommendations in advance. The only negative thing is that the heating can be loud at some times and you can also hear the neighbours so take some earplugs with you.

    Ulrich2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great (Email hidden by Airbnb) fortable space that was well accommodated and stocked with everything you would need plus some fresh food and drink extras! Thane was around to greet our arrival and give city tips. Very easy access to park and the River Walk and not far from Downtown convenience. Kind of place you'd want to live and would stay again if in Detroit!

    William2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and Thane are both great and very responsive hosts. It was so difficult for me to choose the most positive thing that stood out. The generous stock of food items, right down to honey for oatmeal or tea, the ask (Hidden by Airbnb) on the desk, the suggested places to drink and eat with humorous tidbits thrown in by Thane, the bikes (though my friend and I didn't use them due to weather) and the artistic appeal of the top to bottom oh-so-clean loft all made our stay extra special. I was able to walk around barefoot or with socks and my feet didn't get mucked up; quirky but it's these kind of things that really matter to me! Bear in mind this is a loft, and as indicated in the description and other reviews, you will hear neighbours talking and walking above and across from you. This is typical of the majority of lofts, though we wish the neighbours above could've been more quiet late (i.e. past midnight) at night and into the weeee morning hours. However, Karen and Thane are such great and responsive hosts that I am sure they would address this asap if it is an issue for you. They really do care about their guests! If you're looking for an inspirational space to get your creative groove on (i.e. writing) or get a run/bike/jog in, the river leading to downtown is right there; awesome bonus! It's also a short Uber/Lyft ride into the city or Thane's recommended places to eat, drink and be merry :-)

    Naaz2017-12-13T00:00:00Z
  • Just as advertised. You can hear the neighbors really well but it didn’t bother us at all; it’s part of the charm. Had such a great time and will definitely be back!

    Benjamin2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great space to stay! My husband and I were visiting family in town but also took the opportunity to stay near downtown to enjoy some of the restaurants. We loved how laid back but hip the loft was. Karen and Thane left great suggestions and a well stocked kitchen. We would def stay here again.

    Crystal2018-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a hidden gem for Detroit!!! Great host in Karen! I arrived a little early and she was accommodating and very nice. A 2 minute walk to the riverwalk. 6 Minute uber ride to downtown restaurants. Comfortable bed. Clean loft. Affordable price. Definitely recommend.

    Rusty2018-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed the decoration and homey feel of the loft. So much space and light! It's a great place a little outside the city (15 min ride to downtown, 1-hour walk) that really feels authentic. Karen was super helpful and super reactive with everything! Gave us great recommendations that really helped us during our stay. If you're planning on staying here, I would just advise to get some earplugs as you can hear each and every move of the upstairs neighbor (squeaky floors!).

A beautiful, open, airy loft space housed within a completely renovated 1926 industrial building. Centrally located on Woodward Avenue, steps away from the Amsterdam stop of the newly-installed QLINE in New Center. Hop on, and be anywhere you'd like in New Center, Midtown, or Downtown in minutes. Relax, you're home.
This is a modern loft apartment housed within a completely renovated 1926 building that originally housed graphic artists for General Motors, and other companies. Designed by famed-Detroit architect Albert Kahn, you'll notice the signature art-deco front-facade and incredible lobby of the building. All the character of the loft is still intact, from the concrete floors, brick exterior wall, and the mushroom columns Albert Kahn was known for. Home includes a large kitchen, front load washer and dryer, incredibly fast internet with wifi and one bedroom with a queen-sized bed. This building is incredibly peaceful, quiet, and relaxing; while being just blocks away from anything you'd want to do in the city. Kitchen includes gas stove/oven, stainless steel sink, refrigerator, toaster, pots, pans, coffee maker, and any other utensils you need to call Detroit home for a few days. You'll find a single bedroom (this was originally a studio unit, but has been converted into a completely-walled one bedroom unit). Beautifully comfortable queen bed, small dresser, and chair. The main bathroom includes a subway tile shower/tub, sink, and any towels and amenities you'll need to make your stay perfect. Awesomely comfy white cotton sheets are included in the bedroom. The living room includes a couch (can be used for extra sleeping space, but isn't a pull-out), coffee table, and two chairs. 50" HDTV is hooked up to an Apple TV with Netflix. Outdoor space includes a small patio (which you'll enter from) with two bistro chairs and table. Enjoy the sunny back-alley of the building with a drink of your choice from the fridge. Local spots within walking/biking distance include the incredibly beautiful art-deco Fisher and Albert Kahn buildings; Midtown Shopping (Shinola, Willys, Nora, Hugh, Carhartt, Fellow Barber, City Bird, Nest, and more); the mid-century gardens and campus at Wayne State, and more. Local attractions include the city and public art, Belle Isle with its beaches, waterpark, Albert Kahn designed conservatory and aquarium, and trails. The world is your oyster. Restaurants nearby including fast food, Northern Lights Lounge, Falafill, Dangerously Delicious Pies, City Wings, Motor City Brewing Works, Jolly Pumpkin, and more. The loft is all yours while you're here. Enjoy, relax, and hang out. I prefer text and AirBnB message for communication. Taking photos during your stay? Make sure you #thatdetroitloft.
Awesome location right on Woodward at the Midtown/New Center border. Just a few blocks either way to a ridiculous amount of inspiration, character, activities, and restaurants. Take in the Detroit Institute of Arts, or check out the art-deco skyscrapers of New Center.
  • cool loft filled with nice modernist furniture in an exciting city that is reinventing/finding itself. jesse was easy to communicate with and the space was really lovely, centrally located.

  • As my first Airbnb experience I couldn't have asked for anything better! Jesse's loft is absolutely sunning and made for a memorable expereince in Detroit. Jesse is a phenomenal host communicating everything necessary in an efficient and organized manner. He even offered to provide suggestions to great sites and we definitely appreciated his great guidebook. This is a must book place in Detroit to make your expereince one you will never forget...I can't wait to head back to the city and know exactly where I will stay!

    Spencer2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Jesse's place is wonderfully classy. Very comfortable accommodations -- put a Frank Sinatra record on and enjoy the abundant light coming through the large living room windows. Great location and building!

    Michael2016-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Jesse reached out to me directly ready to provide any and all info we may have needed. He also had guide books and other info at the loft. The neighborhood is somewhat walkable and definitely safe. Walkability is a key factor for me and it looks like things are soon to be popping up in this area.

    Clotilde2016-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • I can't recommend Jesse's place enough!!!!! Everything looks exactly as it does in the photos! My girlfriend and I enjoyed using the kitchen to make dinner, lounging on the couches, and listening to the records.

    Ryan2016-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • The loft is really gorgeous, looking forward to go back to Detroit in Jesse s loft.

Welcome to Woodbridge Farm! ...a friendly, spacious & quiet neighborhood, close to all of the happenings in/around Detroit. Enjoy the newly renovated 2nd floor of our 1884 Historic house. The apt is cozy w/ yummy architectural/design details.
WOODBRIDGE FARM: We love it here! ...very special and unique. The street is filled with Urban Pioneers and creative types; artists, musicians, gardeners, and makers. You will find that most homes sit on larger pieces of land, giving Woodbridge Farms a unique feel. Many of the houses in the area have undergone impressive renovations, and for the others the renovation is underway. We have completed the interior renovations of this home, and soon we will start renovation on the house next door, which we also own. From the outside they look a little rough, but keep coming back and you will be able to witness the transformation! US & OUR RENOVATION PROJECTS: We are longtime Detroiter’s. We are committed to the City, and we are so happy to have been a part of the revitalization of Detroit. We love old homes …and we love to renovate them! Zac is a general contractor, and Renee is an Interior Designer. Together, we have been restoring old homes in Woodbridge for the last 15 years. LOCATION: You are a short walk/drive from Detroit’s midtown area, where you will find a variety of restaurants and shopping. Both Corktown and Downtown are within a few miles. It is a very quiet neighborhood, conveniently located to all major freeways. Lots of parking. THE LISTING: Newly renovated, with the best of care. Open plan kitchen, dining, and living. King size bed with fine linens and nice pillows. The bedroom windows are opposite the sun rise. It is a very peaceful space, bright, open and fresh. We are sure you will love the apartment. It is clean and private. We have an office on the first floor that is completely separate from the space. Zac is typically there M-F 9-5 should you need to fax ,copy or have any questions. If you have any special requests we will do our best to accommodate you, if given a bit of notice. We live 2 blocks away from the apartment should anything urgent come up.
  • My husband and I stayed at Zac and Renee's apartment for 3 nights. I've been AirBnBing for a number of years, and this was one of my favourite experiences so far. The apartment is located on a quiet, tree-lined street, full of beautiful old homes (some renovated, some not, some actively being worked on). It is such a peaceful and green location that its hard to believe you are just a couple of miles (an easy car or bike ride) from downtown and midtown. The apartment itself is beautiful. It is *full* of light, clean, spacious, and tastefully, thoughtfully decorated. Some things we loved the most: Taco the cat hanging on the front porch, welcoming us home each day; the view over the wildflowers blooming in the side yard; morning coffee on the sofa, soaking up the light in the living room; restful deep sleeps in a hotel comfy, king-sized bed. Zac and Renee were lovely, responsive hosts. It was a great experience from beginning to end, and we'd stay again in a heartbeat.

    Sophie2016-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Zac & Renee were great with keeping in contact and were really flexible with check-in time. I only met Zac in person and he was very helpful with giving me really good insight about the the city neighborhoods and all the changes happening in Detroit. The place itself was fantastic - huge open & airy space, gorgeously renovated / designed.

    Raphael2016-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Zac and Renee were excellent hosts. Communication was great, and we enjoyed meeting them both in person during our trip. The home is beautifully done and in a very cool, up-and-coming part of Detroit just a short Uber ride away from nightlife. A visit from Taco the neighborhood cat was a bonus. Would definitely stay again!

    Lauren2016-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying in Zac & Renee's apartment. Everything from the design, comfy bed to the friendly visits from Taco the cat made our stay very enjoyable. The place is only a short Uber away from some very tasty food and cool art galleries. Stay here, you'll have a wonderful time.

    Alex2016-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect way to come home to Detroit (I moved to Chicago 11 years ago). The place was absurdly beautiful, comfortable, spacious, and full of unique character. I'm a professional production designer for film, and I definitely took a few notes! We didn't get to see much of Taco the Cat, but when we did he was a great ambassador. We were within 5-10 minutes of everything I wanted to see in the city (both old and new). I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

    Matt2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best mini-moon/honeymoon imaginable here. The apartment is gorgeous, secluded but within walking distance of everything - downtown, Corktown, the Art Institute, vegan hotdogs at the UFO factory, excellent coffee at Great Lakes and Astro. We cannot recommend staying here enough. Our hosts gave us privacy but were there whenever we had any questions. The cat Taco is the sweetest cat on earth but independent too. Stay here! It is everything you could want and more.

    Cait2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Zac & Renee's place! The space was both beautiful and comfortable.

  • Beautiful place in a historic neighborhood. Close to everything (i.e. 5-10 min drive) but very quiet. Highly recommended!

Upstairs from Slows BBQ and on the same block as Astro, Sugar House and Gold Cash Gold, this two-bedroom neighborhood inn provides an immersive, welcoming travel experience in the heart Corktown, Detroit's oldest neighborhood.
A small-scale, design-focused Detroit inn, Honor & Folly is reminiscent of the way folks used to travel: a few beds above the village pub or restaurant. You'll be immersed in this historical neighborhood that's also at the forefront of the city's current revitalization. Featured in Martha Stewart Living, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit (made the 40 "Best Food Lovers Hotels in America" Awards), The Globe and Mail, Details Magazine, Conde Nast Traveller UK, and Afar. With a prime Corktown location, you'll be situated smack into the middle of one of the most thriving, charming and walk-able neighborhoods in the city—right across from the city’s most beautiful icon of urban decay: the old train station. Admire it up-close or enjoy the beautiful view through the big living room windows—you can even see the Ambassador Bridge! Sharing a block with Slows, Astro, Gold Cash Gold and Sugar House, Honor & Folly also offers plenty of other nearby bars, shops and restaurants within a quick stroll (I provide guests with a list of my favorite recommendations), as well as easy access to downtown. The well-appointed space is decorated with goods made by Detroit and Midwest-based designers and artisans—much of which is also for sale. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and its own bathroom, for a capacity of four people, with additional possible sleeping arrangements for kids. From time to time, Honor & Folly is used as a community space, hosting workshops or events, but you will have the space entirely to yourself during your stay. OTHER AMENITIES: outdoor balcony | local design | fully stocked cooking kitchen | potential to arrange custom catering, private dinner parties, etc.
  • An awesome place for a weekend! Really cool space in an awesome location

    David and Roey2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay, cozy and spacious, great location. Just above slows BBQ. Sleeps 4 comfortably and has a patio. Would love to stay again.

    Aaron2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely, restful spot to land in a great location. Check in couldn't be easier, and you will be close to lots of great places to eat and drink. Gorgeous - it will make you want to live in Detroit forever.

    Susan2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place is magic. Honestly can't imagine a better home base for exploring Detroit. Requires a rudimentary level of city-smarts (when it comes to parking for example), but I don't think of that as a problem, exactly. We never met Meghan in person but she was very responsive and gracious by text. Highly recommended.

    Todd2018-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Stunningly beautiful home. We loved it. The only fault we found is, although the owner states that one can access the WiFi from the restaurant downstairs, it does not work, there is no WiFi....

    Sue2017-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Honor and Folly could not be a lovelier place to stay. I arrived before my friends and got to enjoy a few hours all to myself. The apartment was clean, inviting, really spacious, and as beautiful as you would imagine from the photos. Great stuff right outside the front door, too. My friends and I are local, but this was such a welcome respite from our everyday lives. I hope to stay again!

    Lisa2015-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just as beautiful as the pictures. The location is perfect for drinks, dinner or brunch spots. Some of the best places to eat in town are walking distance. The parking was a little tricky on weekend nights but if you’re patient or willing to walk it was pretty easy. Highly recommend and hope to return.

    Jackie2018-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Meghan’s place is amazing, even better than pictured. I would recommend anyone stay here! It was a perfect place for a wonderful weekend in Detroit.

  • Great spot, centrally located, nice and clean large loft.

    Philip2016-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lots and lots of space and great natural light. Having on-site parking is really convenient since we were out and about most of our stay.

    Derek2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • A great, spacious, light filled apartment in a cool, former industrial part of detroit that feels safe and centrally located.

    Jay & Michael2016-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, great location, great value

    Donovan2017-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place for a close knit group, and economical for a stay in Detroit. It is a big, bright open loft. Only 1 of the 3 bedrooms had a door, so if privacy is a priority this is not the place for you. Also, noise really travels. However, lots of room to roam and light. We had some maintenance issues, but they were handled quickly.

    Ruthe2018-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • It was cool but there’s a younger crowd.

    Chad2018-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • What a terrific space. Would've been perfect for an event, although it turned out to be just as good for a low key hang out! Instructions for the stay were clear and Kyle was very communicative and helpful. Great experience at a very cool space, with a great purpose/dedication to the arts. Would highly recommend it.

    Grace2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • When originally booked we saw Model J as the original picture but instead got Model C. Model C is nothing like Model J. Luckily, we had a great host who allowed us to trade spaces. I would just check which model you are getting before getting there. Other than that Model J was immensely huge. Great space, had such a NY vibe to it. Very minimal. We enjoyed it for the night. You could bring a few things to make it more homely like candles towels etc. but great to see this in Detroit.

Fresh Gothic-Victorian nearby the Museum of African American History, Wayne State, Third Man Records, Shinola. Sfumato Fragrances NOW OPEN in the garden level, perfume shop and low-key scented cocktail bar (search for the latest Lonely Planet article). Rocket Fiber gigabit internet speed. Sonos controls in wall speakers.
This 1880s Gothic-Victorian Mansion was renovated in 2015. Everything is new, clean and modern. There is a queen sized bed and an air mattress. In addition to the low-key cocktail bar in the garden level, Detroit Clothing Circle clothing shop downstairs offers curated racks of clothing with styles that won't blend in with the herd.
We have a great location in Midtown Detroit, many great bars, restaurants, and shops are within walking distance. Popular nearby attractions include the DIA, MOCAD, Chartreuse, Jolly Pumpkin, Hop Cat, Motor City Brewing Works, Great Lakes Coffee and Whole Foods.

  • Sarah's apartment is exactly as advertised, spacious, clean, and everything you need. The neighborhood was my favorite part with so many cool restaurants and bars in short walking distance. Sarah was easy to communicate with and on the ball with any questions we had. 5 star stay. Would definitely stay again.

My husband, Matt, and I have a lovely flat in Hamtramck that has been restored to its original 1920s charm. Our style is intentional and warm, and decorations include things that we have collected through the years that have meaning to us. Equipped with a queen size bed in a spacious bedroom it is perfect for a couple or close friends! There’s plenty of room for an air mattress too. • Matt and Meredith's place was a jewel. It is a bit hard to get to the apartment with our suitcases. However, once we got in the apartment, we immediately felt like home. The apartment was very clean and spacious. Location was perfectly situated in Hamtramck which was closed to everything from Dearborn to Downtown Detroit. Matt and Meredith were amazing host. We mostly communicated with Matt. They were very attentive. They also had great ideas for dinner. We loved the apartment and would love to go back.

  • Beautiful and sunny space. Very cute touches all around the apartment. It was clean, safe, easy and Matthew and Meredith were gracious and helpful touches. Easy parking, even in the snowstorms!

  • Great location, Matthew and Meredith were great hosts. Their home made for the perfect stay. Super clean, spacious, and well equipped.

  • The place was adorable and they were very welcoming.

    Jennifer2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful atmosphere, really beautiful inside - just like the photos. Very kind and communicative guests!

    Mara2017-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • A truly wonderful place to stay, and the neighborhood is full of kind interesting people! Getting anywhere in Detroit or the suburbs was easy and fast!

    Raffa2017-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is absolutely lovely! Matt & Meredith have done a wonderful job creating a welcoming, charming place. Close to lots of restaurants and an on ramp to the highway, so it's very conveniently located. We will definitely stay again!

    Lisa2016-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is the kind of place I'm hesitant to say good things about for fear of it becoming difficult to book. But to be fair to Matt & Meredith, I have to say their flat is charming, cozy, and quiet, with thoughtful touches throughout the apartment. I especially enjoyed reading the history of the house-- That and the view out the back window made me feel as if I could've been staying at my grandparents house when I was a kid. The location is in the heart of Hamtramck, walking distance to pretty much all the spots of interest in that area, and a few minutes drive to Cass Corridor and downtown. I hope to stay there again sometime in warmer weather so I can take advantage of the bike tours from the new Wheelhouse location nearby.

  • This loft was perfect for a night out in Detroit. The loft is very well decorated and contains a lot of items from Detroit. It was extremely clean and well laid out. The rooftop deck had amazing views and was perfect for sitting outside with friends. Lots of street parking. The host had great communication and quick responses. • This quiet little getaway is perfect for escaping the city without ever really leaving. The loft has a cozy & modern feel with hints of vintage Detroit all around. The rooftop deck has a perfect view of the Detroit skyline. Sunrise or sunset, the view is amazing! Christa & David are fantastic hosts, they made my girlfriend & I feel at home right away. With a full breakdown of the loft and surrounding area they provide tips on nearby restaurants & more. If you’re looking for a little getaway this is the place to be.

  • super cute place, and the amazing balcony with a view!

    Marissa2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • I couldn’t recommend this pied a terre more!! The rooftop deck is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine at night or a cup of coffee in the morning. It is beautifully appointed. Stylish & comfortable too!! The location can’t be beat!!! We walked to Grey Ghost for dinner & walked to The Pizza Arena for our concert. Afterwards, we enjoyed a nightcap at the newly opened Second Best. Never once did we feel uncomfortable walking around at night. In fact, it felt very urban & “big city”. I would highly recommend booking your next stay here!!

    Samantha2018-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place was exactly like the pictures! Clean and has so much character. The building has been refinished But still holds the charm of the past. The kitchen was pristine and the fresh press was the perfect little treat to have on the private deck! The Detroit homage was an extra touch:) walking distance to downtown made this the perfect location! We will stay again for sure!

    Sarah2018-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the location. Centrally located between the Fox Theater and Eastern Market and Greek Town and the museums. The apartment was so cute just like the pictures. And the added touches of Faygo pop and S’more makings was nice.

    Jill2018-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • Awesome place in the perfect location. The walk to the q line was short and direct. Had I been in town for a game it would have been even easier. The deck off of the unit is huge! Will definitely be returning soon to take advantage of that. :)

Sunny, cozy and serene. Right off of Jefferson Ave and Detroit’s Riverwalk. The perfect retreat with a gorgeous view of the Detroit River and only a 5-minute drive to downtown! Just a few blocks from Belle Isle Park with a beautiful view of the river. Ample and safe parking for all guests. The newly renovated Mt. Elliot Park directly across the street provides for a safe and family friendly environment for a stroll.
The building stays true to Detroit's cultural history as it is rustic and once used by manufacturers. Turned into an artist's loft space, the living space features exposed red brick throughout. Interior decor is boho-chic meets Moroccan themes. Souvenirs from my travels to Asia, Africa, and the middle east also fill the space. Coffee and cereal included.
The neighborhood is very safe. The apartment building is directly on the Detroit River Front, which it should be noted that the River Front has completely been renovated and truly family friendly. A Walgreens is directly across the street as well as a gas station on the corner. Getting around is fairly easy. Most restaurants and cafes are within a 5-10 minute driving distance.
  • Semira's place is cozy, hip, and a in great location on the waterfront. She was super easygoing, communicative and accommodating. Would stay again!

    Amy2017-07-27T00:00:00Z
  • The loft was cozy and cute with gorgeous views! The apartment has a lot of character and with that comes drafty windows, loud pipes, and thin walls. We unfortunately heard a lot of not so pleasant activity through our the neighbors walls. However, we loved the converted space and climbing into the loft to sleep. It worked well for us because we're both on the short side, but you have to be extra careful when getting in/out of the bed. Parking was easy and convenient and the 4 flights of stairs made our dinners taste that much better!

    Amy2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Semira was great! Cozy space, perfect for a young couple or single traveler. Semira was very responsive and easy to work with.

    Sylvia2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Semira’s place was so lovely and cute. Perfect for our one night in town, and was very fast with communicating. Plenty of parking, and a pretty view. Be prepared to walk up some steps though! I would definitely stay again, and recommend her place to anyone.

  • Had long days at a convention while in town so it was nice to escape to a quiet, friendly place. Nice comfortable and cozy loft. Nice view of the water, Canada. :) Easy access to local restaurants and downtown.

  • Semira’s place was perfect! Place was clean and comfortable, and check in was easy. The location was safe, easy Uber or Cab to downtown. Would definitely recommend!

Hello! Our home is an 1890 Victorian mansion that we purchased in 2012 and lovingly renovated over three years using a team of local craftspeople and myself. This space is a quirky 1 bedroom, 1 bath garden level loft with much of its original character preserved. Located in the heart of Midtown just one block from 15+ bars and restaurants, DMC, Shinola and way more. The space is designed with leisure stays in mind but also capable of accommodating business travelers comfortably. Parking included
The space features a custom cherry old-growth wood bar along with handbuilt cherry countertops. The bathroom has its own interesting character equipped with the biggest shower I've ever installed as a builder. The apartment is stocked with coffee, has an Apple TV and high-speed WiFi and dart board. The space is equipped with a modern heating system and natural cooling from the original stone walls. It’s very comfortable year round.
Midtown is an exploding, vibrant neighborhood in the center of Detroit. There are so many fantastic bars, shopping opportunities, museums and restaurants within walking distance. The Wayne State Police is highly active and patrols Midtown 24/7 with a fast response rate making Midtown the safest neighborhood in Detroit and one of the safest university campuses in the nation.
  • Cute clean apartment in walking distance to some great restaurants.

    Jennifer2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay! I would recommend to stay here if traveling to Detroit!

    Erin2017-11-03T00:00:00Z

  • Kelsey's apartment is very roomy and the space is well done. I could't believe the abundance of natural light this place! The location is in Midtown which has become the crown jewel of Detroit's comeback. Kelsey's instructions on finding the designated off street parking spot and how to get into the apartment were very clear - so checking in went smoothly. Very highly recommended!!

    B John2017-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely loved staying in this apartment! It was stylish and renovated, with a cozy feel. It has a nice private entry with your own reserved parking spot. Kelsey was easy to communicate with, and had had everything we would need stocked. Would highly recommend and would definitely come back!

    Anna2018-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Cutest touches in this space! Love the heated floors! It’s a great location and was within walking distance of so many great places!

This loft is a mix of the industrial beauty that Detroit has to offer along with modern decor from my travels. 5 minutes from Belle Isle & Downtown, on the Riverwalk and next to an upgraded park. Fully equipped, for up to four people. Close to Belle Isle, Comerica Park, Ford Field, Chene Park, Joe Louis Arena, Fox Theatre, the Masonic Temple, Cobo Hall, Detroit Institute of Arts, the Fillmore, Hart Plaza and Little Caesar's Arena.
The loft is a wide open space located near the heart of Downtown. Large windows allow for natural light to illuminate the loft during the day and my smart-lights allow for an array of colors at night, which can be controlled directly from your smartphone. Artwork and photos decorate the walls along with objects I've collected along my travels. The perfect place to come back to relax to after a crazy day in Detroit! New furniture, full closet and storage for clothing/luggage, work station, Apple TV, Netflix, decanter & wine set, plant life and a short guide for the best things to do while in Detroit. Very comfortable queen size bed to wake up to a view of Downtown in the morning; I definitely missed it while I was traveling through other Airbnb's!
The neighborhood is great. Right on the Detroit River with easy access to the heart of downtown, Belle Isle or the Dequindre Cut by way of walking, biking or by car. Adjacent to the building is a newly upgraded park to mark the start (or end) of the Riverwalk which has nice rolling greens to spend a Summer day on. There is a grocery store within walking distance.

  • This place had all the basics we needed. Clear instructions, everything went smoothly. Only thing worth noting is that the TV can only be used if connected to a personal device (no cable). Not a deal breaker for us but would be nice to know ahead of time.

  • Kyle is a great host. His apartment is clean and tidy in a nice neighborhood. The check-in process is easy and fast. Recommend this listing!

  • Nous avons bien aimer l'idée du lock box pour trouver la clé d'entrée. L’appartement était propre et moderne.

    Mireille2016-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • The room(s) itself was not bad at all. Studio was pretty much as described in the listing. Nothing special, but conveniently located close to downtown. The check-in process and communication with Kyle was an absolute nightmare. I was stranded outside the complex due to the host making a big mistake on sending me instructions to the wrong room. It appears he owns more than a few studios on the same floor. I followed the instructions from his e-mail to a T and when I opened up the lockbox, the key was missing. When I contacted the host for support, he advised me to go find the security guard, which I couldn't find, due to the fact he was smoking in a car nearby. I was fed up. Stranded outside for more than 30 minutes. He originally offered a refund if everything wasn't right and so I asked for a refund. He then changed his tune sharply, arguing with me that he will not offer a refund because he made a small mistake and sent me instructions to the wrong room. Funny thing... the host stated that since I only been stranded outside for 30 minutes or so, he should get at least an hour to try and fix the problem. And since he called back and said "oh it was the wrong room," he refused the refund even daring me to notify Airbnb if they even will mediate or rectify the situation. Basically, the room is fine, nothing special, but I cannot recommend staying here unless you like having check-in issues due to the host negligence and dealing with a rude, immature host who is hard to get a hold of. Save that money for a better Airbnb experience. Trust me.

  • Christopher's loft is nothing short of awesome. Walking distance to Greek town casino and bell isle park this is the perfect location for an authentic Detroit expierence. The unit itself is in a great building with lots of character in a safe location. The front door of the apartment opens up to a courtyard, and feels like Narnia. The bed was extremely comfortable. Absolute no issues what so ever because of Christophers swift communication skills. I noticed a few under appreciative reviews posted, and all I have to say is that I would give this listing a 10/10.

Industrial studio loft in Corktown close to downtown, Cobo Center, coffee shops, bars, restaurants, brekky spots, the Detroit River, shopping, and accessible to everything else amazing in Detroit. Corktown is amazing! It is home to the city's most eclectic coffee shops, bars, restaurants, breweries, record shops, cutest retail spots, and secondhand shops. Most are a 10-15-min walk or 5-min car ride away. The loft is also super close to downtown, all festivals (e.g., Movement, MoPop) and the Cobo Center (10-15 min walk); The Renaissance Center (RenCen, 6-min drive/27-min walk); and Hart Plaza is a 4-min drive/23-min walk past Rosa Park's old condo and the Detroit Riverwalk (a site of the Underground Railroad).
  • Danielle's place is just great! Big loft, with vintage decorations which suit the place very well! Easy parking spot on the street or adjacent lot. Easy to dive into the city (by car). Check in was really easy. Danielle was also very flexible with our requests (thanks again!) Great coffee in the morning. And some good spots in the neighbourhood to have some food. We would definitely stay here again!

  • Danielle's loft is amazing - we had an excellent stay! Danielle is a very thoughtful host and gave us amazing recommendations for things to do and see in Detroit.

    Eric2018-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle's Loft is truly a find in downtown Detroit's up-and-coming Corktown neighborhood. Large and spacious with a great view of the downtown Detroit skyline at night, Danielle couldn't be a more responsive and nicer host, offering lists of things to do/places to go. You are just down the street from downtown hotels and the river front, and also the urban revitalization happening in Corktown, which is all about the farm-to-table/sustainable movement. We would definitely stay here again next year, and can't wait to see what more develops in that area between now and then. Thank you, Danielle!

    Colleen2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle’s loft is uber-cool and the perfect place for those who appreciate an off the beaten path kind of accommodation. The loft is tasteful, clean and comfy - sumptuous towels and cozy bed linen. Thanks for making our stay in Detroit a memorable one!

    Preet2018-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle was able to meet all my accommodations. Apartment was well kept, had everything I needed for my stay, and offered a unique vibe. Would however get A/C working.

    Dillon2017-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle was an incredible host who really cares about her guests. The loft is awesome and very comfortable.

    Perry2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Danielle was so accommodating and had wonderful suggestions about the area. Her place was really cute and had a lot of personal touches that made it feel like a home. She had great communication and even contacted us to let us know there was an umbrella if we needed it due to some stormy weather. Thank you Danielle!

Trendy, unique, & upscale apartment with absolutely no expense spared! Sits atop a privately owned, newly restored, multi-million $ building. All decor is from Restoration Hardware, creating a classy, high-tech, & luxurious travel experience. Minutes from the heart of downtown & stadiums, one block from famous restaurants: Slow's BBQ & Takoi, as well as craft cocktail bar, Sugar House & Two James Distillery. Great, safe location to explore the city & have fun. Perfect for couples/groups/events.
Located in the old Bullock Green Hardware building, a local architect with an incredible eye for detail sunk $1m+ into the rehab and decoration of the commercial building, converting it into unique living spaces. The building consists of 4 separate units: 1 massive master unit takes up the entire 1st floor, and 3 separate units that have private access are located on the 2nd floor. This unit is one of those 3. Exposed brick, accompanied with state of the art electronics and modern fixtures makes this a very unique and desirable property.
Corktown is the oldest surviving neighborhood in Detroit, Michigan. Corktown derives its name from the Irish immigrants who settled there. Very safe, friendly area with plenty of bars, restaurants, distilleries within walking distance. The road consists of cobblestone, which gives it the cool, nolstalgic feel. Very close to I-75 & M-10.
  • The place was very nice and I had a great time

    Russell2018-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific location! Close to great restaurants, bars, and a wonderful coffee shop. Parking was easy and check-in was a breeze! I would stay here again.

    Leena2018-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Overall the stay was nice. The location is just a block from popular corktown area. We did have trouble with the doors, including one time where the external door to the building locked us in and we could not get out, it ended up being something with the buzzer upstairs which we didn’t know anything about. The place is very cool and updated. I would say my only issue were there were no supplies in the kitchen, such as a pan or even baking sheet. We wanted to make nachos and didn’t think to bring our own. Cason was very responsive and even worked with my friend to help them get in early! Overal, I would recommend but I would suggest asking about the door locks ahead of time to avoid getting locked in.

    Kelsey2018-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • We found some really fun spots to visit nearby. Really like the kitchen design.

Feel the industrial vibes of Detroit in this gorgeous loft, located in a 1920's automotive factory. Some features like the wood floors and pillars are all original. It also has exposed brick, and tall windows letting the sun shine through. Located in a quiet, industrial area 3-8 minute drive to Midtown, Eastern Market, Hamtramck and Downtown. 1 mile to Q line and very bike friendly as you can get to many places easily!
This industrial boho loft is clean, comfy and ideal for couples and solo travelers. The loft area is currently off limits for sleep (the heat rises and stays too warm up there), so those booking should ideally be able to share the full mattress or be ok with sleeping on the sofa. WiFi Fully equipped kitchen Private entrance in the parking lot Sleeping arrangements: Full size super comfy Sealy posturepedic mattress Sofa- for 1 (not too tall) Twin bed — off limits for winter Please select the amount of guests you will be so that I can provide bed sheets and towels accordingly.
Make neighbors with the old factories and pheasants ~ The loft is located in an old industrial and unique neighborhood. Many of the plots and buildings here have been converted into artist studios/loft buildings, community gardens and music venues. The area is safe, but as a fair warning it may look a bit eary to those not familiar with Detroit. The people who occupy this building are friendly and it feels like a community.
  • Beautiful place in a secluded location in an old industrial district of town

    Kyle2018-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • The space is great and it’s very quiet. Georgia was quick with her response even though I booked and checked in pretty late at night. It was warm and inviting and she makes you feel welcomed even though she isn’t there.

    Tammy2017-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Good location, close to lots of areas, nice quiet place to get back to

    Jorge2017-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Not a bad location -- definitely feels like Detroit. Well lit, nicely decorated spot in an old factory. Be prepared to climb a ladder to go to bed. Georgia was an easy going host that communicated with us well. Only complaint is that I couldn't connect to the wifi at all but, that's not the worst thing.

    joe2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute, minimal loft space in a secluded area of the city. The space itself is charming, tons of character. It's relatively close to New Center, which is nice, and there are some quirky spots nearby to check out. You absolutely need to have wheels if you stay here, otherwise you will be stuck. The wifi was not functional during my stay which was very frustrating, and there were some heating issues which made it a constant game with the windows. Tbh, I feel that this place is overpriced for what it is, and where it is, however that said, there's not a lot of options for Detroit. Also, it's a bit isolated, whilst Georgia did recommend a few spots to check out, it definitely took some effort and wandering to figure out the area.

    Taylor2017-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful and peaceful loft in a central location. Georgia was very easy to deal with and incredibly accommodating. Highly recommend.

    Elliot2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Picturesque, gritty urban neighborhood. The loft is one of a complex of recently renovated apts. the sleeping loft has a low ceiling so you should be flexible and in good shape to clamber up the ladder. Assuming you are, it's a unique venue to stay and Georgia is an accommodating host. Be sure to walk up to the main road to snap some photos of the area.

    Jeremy2017-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Georgia’s loft was so awesome. It was funky and homey and we had so much fun in the hammocks! It is slightly out of the city but in a very cool area with old Lofts and great architecture. About a 5 minute drive downtown and we had no problems getting a cab there or back.

  • Great place close to downtown!

    Aj2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent!

    Mary2018-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice space, lots of light and close to activities. Excellent communication with owner and very clean environment. The furniture in the living area needs improvement. The chairs and couch were very uncomfortable and made relaxing in the evening difficult. A dining table and chairs for sharing meals would be nice and treads on the stairway would improve safety.

    Amy2017-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • The place was fantastic! So spacious and easy to find. Plenty of parking on the street. Will probably rent again!

    Julie2017-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay. The apartment was impressive! We hope to come stay again.

    Aleena2018-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Nice space... not a lot going on the area yet but there was a great little cocktail bar called Kiesling that had just opened down the street!

    Jesse2018-05-04T00:00:00Z
  • There's not much else I feel like I can say about this place! It looked exactly like it does in the pictures, yet it's somehow bigger than you'd imagine. Check-in instructions were easy to follow and Martha greeted us as soon as we walked in the building. The place itself had everything you'd need for a quick getaway and I truly enjoyed my time here, not to mention its location which is so nearby local hotspots. Would definitely recommend!

One of the most beautiful homes on Airbnb. This is a 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom historic home in one of the most beautiful, one of a kind neighborhood of Detroit. Woodbridge is in Midtown, and a mile from most of Detroit's finest sights, art, and stadiums. My wife and I are in Greece for at least six months helping refugees and your stay is our only revenue keeping us there. Thank you! Note on Cleaning Fee: There is a group that help maintain the place. It goes to them to support a living wage.
This is a great 4000 sq/ft three story single family home. Very spacious with tons of light. All the bedrooms have great closet space and two rooms have en suite full baths.
Woodbridge is one of the most beautiful areas of Detroit. Within 1-2 miles of the Detroit Institute of Arts, Whole Foods, Eastern Market, Downtown, Wayne State. Comerica Park, Ford Field, Masonic Temple, Fox Theater, Corktown. Detroit safety and emptiness comes up often. This house is in the safest part of Detroit. We are the only area that is patrolled by three police departments due to Wayne State University and the variety of medical centers near by. Many are thrown off by the current state of Detroit. There are amazing small "islands" of great neighborhoods throughout the city, but a lot of emptiness, grafitti, and development between all of them. You can't escape it if you are staying in Detroit. It's the nature of our city. This house is in one of the safest and most quiet neighborhoods in all of Detroit. We are only a mile from city center and most attractions. My reviews tend to be all 5 stars except sometimes we fall short in "location". I attribute this to guests being unfamiliar with Detroit, so I am trying to give a more detailed background of the nature of our city.
  • What a find! George makes you feel right at home in this beautiful (and huge) house. Fairly central location, only 5-10 minutes to downtown, the Eastern Market, Corktown, etc. The beds were great and he even provided us with a pack and play for our little boy. Woodbridge is a little gem of a neighbourhood. As Canadians who haven't experienced many Fourth of July celebrations, we were shocked at the number of fireworks the locals were lighting off, but it was all in good fun. Even the rowdy party next door was completely quiet by 2 am and cleaned up in the morning. Detroiters - you know how to party it up right. Too bad all of us young parents hit the hay by 11. Will definitely look to stay here again if we come down for another Tigers game!

    T.J.2015-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely LOVED this place! 7 of us all came in from across the country to meet in Detroit for Record Store Day 2017, and this was the not only the perfect house, but also the perfect location for us. Short walk to Cass Corridor & Third Man Records, tons of restaurants, bars, Motor City Brewing Works, Ghostbar at The Whitney, The Majestic and Garden Bowl bowling alley. Even if you opt out of walking, I didn't spend more than $7 on an Uber all weekend. Host George was super-responsive when we had questions before and during our stay. NEIGHBORHOOD: I'll be honest, the area was a tad "seedier" than I had expected (given the description of "safest neighborhood in Detroit"). But that being said, we didn't spend much time in any other neighborhood, so maybe it really is the safest neighborhood in Detroit! (Note I lived in Chicago for 6 yrs, so I know seedy). Upon our arrival we were approached by a man asking us for money (but that only happened once in our 'hood), and things seemed a little seedier up by the liquor store on Trumbull. But we found that as long as we traveled in a group, it was totally fine, and we never really felt scared or threatened. HOUSE: The house is old and the gorgeous floors are pretty creaky, but the amount of space was more than we needed, and we ended up using the backyard patio area much more than I expected we would. Nice little private yard with patio furniture. Tons of cooking utensils/pots/pans/etc in the kitchen if you wanted to cook or eat in. Full size fridge and freezer for leftovers and beer. Plenty of cups/mugs, a coffee maker, coffee grounds provided. Towels, washcloths, and bar soaps provided. AMENITIES: Perhaps they have it normally, but there was no female-friendly shampoo during our stay. I suggested this to the host for future Airbnb-ers. Other than that, we had literally everything we needed, and was the perfect place for our little excursion. Large living room to play games, and smart TV to watch Youtube videos or Netflix, etc. Wouldn't have changed a thing. Thank you for such a fabulous stay!!

  • George was a fantastic host. The house was beautiful, and in a perfect location. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when going back to Detroit.

    Carrie2015-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • George's place was absolutely fantastic - we've stayed in Detroit many times, and this was by far the nicest place we'd ever found. From the easy booking, to check in, to the lovely details and atmosphere of the space, to an easy check-out, everything worked perfectly. The location was so convenient. Thank you George! Would happily stay again anytime.

Enjoy and explore the quaint but up-and-coming neighborhood of West Village Detroit. This cozy apartment is just steps away from new shops and restaurants like Sister Pie, Craft Work and Red Hook Coffee. With it’s historic elements in tact, wood floors, and antique charm the space has a subtle and sophisticated feel and was furnished with this in mind. The original murphy bed folds down in the living room and a custom made kitchen bar top folds up for extra guest accommodations.
The West Village neighborhood is a lovely up and coming area of Detroit. While it's still easiest to get around Detroit by car there are some great restaurants and shops within walking distance. If you'd like any recommendations just send me a message. We are also right next to Indian Village, a neighborhood with beautiful houses built in the early 1900s. Overall, the neighborhood is very walkable and friendly.
  • Morgan was simply amazing! She was so accommodating and very helpful. Our flights arrived in the morning and Morgan was willing to let us check in early so that we didn't have to carry our luggage around as we explored the city. And then again since our flight out of town was later in the evening she was willing to let us leave our luggage in the home until we were ready to head to the airport. Little things like that made this trip so great for us! The apartment was clean, cozy and so stylish. I believe they are working on a guide book for the area which is really exciting since there's little pockets of up and coming places to see. We had a wonderful time and highly recommend this home and the location. Sister Pie is right down the street, walking distance, as well as the amazing cafe, Le Bohem. We can't wait to visit again!

    Janelle2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • I booked this place for two friends that just got married, as a getaway wedding gift. Morgan was really helpful in facilitating everything so there were no issues checking in even though the guests had not booked directly. My friends were extremely happy with the place and their stay!

  • Nice place, comfortable stay, thank you Morgan!

    Matt2018-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan’s place isn’t a bad place to stay, furniture needs to be updated badly, dust and cobwebs and the neighborhood isn’t the safest. Bed is comfy. Just be mindful, don’t check in late at night.

    Cristiano2018-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan’s home is very nice and convenient. She’s a gracious host, and I will definitely consider staying there again next time I’m passing through Detroit. Thanks!

Adventurers welcome! Stay here & help fund our renovation work as we bring this abandoned 20's mansion back to life! House is RUSTIC & a WORK IN PROGRESS. Private room is restored with original features. Lockable Room Door, King bed with Foam Mattress, Mini Fridge, Microwave, Coffee Maker. Shared bathroom, kitchen & common area. We host other travelers too so expect community vibe! 5-15 mins bike to most top attractions. Perfect for biking explorers.
This spacious private room is restored to its original state and comfortably furnished. It has a nice king memory foam bed (Size: 76 in x 80 in). The room also comes with convenient amenities like coffee maker, microwave and a mini fridge. The room door is lockable. We usually set up only a KING bed for up to 2 guests in the room. Please let us know if you need us to set up the extra single beds. We currently have 3 bathrooms shared in the house. Since other travelers and our international volunteers helping us will be staying under the same roof and sharing the same bathroom / kitchen / lounge, the space will have a strong community vibe. Expect to meet cool people from all around. We’ve made lots of friends while traveling and staying in this type of shared environment and we love it. :) With that being said, if you require more privacy, this is probably not the best place for you but most guests see it as a great way to meet people and embrace the community vibe as part of the adventure.
Our house is just up from Belle Isle on the same street! We're close to Eastern Market to our north west and West Village / Indian Village to our south east. Straight shot over to Downtown / Midtown and most top attractions are within 3 miles. A lot of homes in this area are being revitalized right now but there are still a lot of work to be done and you'll probably see some blighted houses nearby. If you want some more info about neighborhoods or places to check out please let us know! We have an extensive travel guide we put together for our guests.
  • Hosts were super kind and easy to communicate with. The home is in on a quiet street and a short Uber ride downtown (or a walk and the bus).

  • I absolutely love Base Camp. It is cozy with a friendly atmosphere. Huge kitchen with lots of amenities. It is set up sort of like a hostel, but you have a private room rather than a dorm. My room was super warm too, which was nice during the snow storm that hit us. For those looking for a sense of community with locals and fellow travelers, this is a great spot to check out while visiting Detroit.

    Heather2018-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is unbelievable place, really) First of all, we was impressed of contrast between not renovated part of home and our room. Room was really cozy. Moreover, if compare photos by which we chosen this room and current state - it very different things! Currently room is more comfortable and have good equipment. This is a great progress! We was very impressed! Great job, Detroit Adventure Team! Outside the room is atmosphere is close to usual European hostels. So, nothing extraordinary. You just should be OK with that. Place is really safety, we even dropped car on a street. Police on a duty during whole night just on opposite side of the street. Less one mile to the The Heidelberg Project and not far from to downtown. One more thanks to Detroit Adventure Team! We was very exited by your work! We was very excited by your work! Best wishes to you in your work!

  • Low price, good internet. It is ok to overnight

    Max2017-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Can't beat the value here! Room was large and bright with a comfy bed. Hot shower with good water pressure and extremely friendly hosts. It's definitely modest but what more do you need if you're there to explore the city?! Would highly recommend as a budget friendly option with fairly easy access to downtown!

    Elizabeth2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • The room we stayed in was very roomy and great. The bed is amazingly comfortable & there is a nice sofa, chair & desk. The house is big and will be great when it's all done. In the meantime my daughter & I found it really nice. Great location.

    Kaye2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for an evening on the town. Short Uber ride downtown or to midtown. The place is being rehabilitated so it's in a state of construction, but the main areas are clean and updated already. The room we stayed in was also very clean and nice. The place is communal so you have to walk through common areas to go to bathrooms, and you'll meet other people on the way, but that's no problem for us. It's a cool place now and will be even cooler when they are complete! Will definitely keep on my favorites list. Street parking was no problem. Despite Detroit still being pretty rough around the edges, we had no issues in this location. If you don't know Detroit well, understand you may need to drive through some rough looking areas to get here. People like this though are helping to revitalize the area!

This loft is the essence of what Detroit has to offer; sophisticated design, history, technology and an appreciation for nature. 5 minutes from Belle Isle & Downtown, on the Riverwalk and next to an upgraded park. Fully equipped, for up to six people.
20ft projector screen with Xbox One with 2 controllers and Xfinity Cable, new furniture, 5 color changing smartphone controlled lights, iPhone 6s+ to use to easily control the lights or surf the web, full closet and storage for clothing/luggage, record player (request a few albums to have!), work station, decanter & wine set, 2 LED systems under each bed, touch free soap dispenser, plant life and a short guide for the best things to do while in Detroit. Very comfortable queen size beds to wake up to a view of Downtown in the morning with privacy curtains for each room.

  • A great unique space with awesome technology, a great location and supreme comfort. A great find, and a place I would absolutely use again. Awesome experience.

  • Christopher’s place was amazing! It is in a great location, 10 minute drive to where Little Caesars Arena which has so many different restaurants and a cool place to walk around. Christopher responded to me so quickly with the questions I had and made the self check in so easy. Would definitely stay here again and recommend his place to anyone asking for somewhere to stay downtown! Thanks again Christopher!

    Lauren2018-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Christopher was super helpful. This spot was perfect for one night stay in Detroit! Would definitely recommend it for others.

    Selena2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Disappointed. Christopher was an attentive host however my guest and I found a lot lacking in this place. Christopher has heard before that the windows need to be repaired and he needs to have the place cleaned better. It still stands. In particular , the tub. Bedding is lack lustre also. And no facecloths or hand towels. Old garbage and rotten food in fridge... to make a few notes. This is not a quiet place if you’re a light sleeper. It’s a decent location, with lots of potential and I have shared that with him. I would not recommend staying here in the winter until the patched up windows (with tape and cardboard) are replaced because there’s quite the draft and lots of holes. But don’t take Chris’ word for it if he says they are. I did. Not luxury. Hipster, maybe.

  • This place is even better than the pictures! Very open layout. Beautiful and sharp decor, not cluttered at all. Clean. High tech tv/music system that's simple enough for a not tech savvy person (like myself) to use. Lots of refrigerator space. Good quality air mattresses. Easy to find. Hosts are very easy to get a hold of and quick to respond. Do yourself a favor and request this loft! You won't be disappointed. It has definitely earned its 5 star rating.

This beautiful and spacious apartment is the entire first floor of a two floor duplex in a historic home conveniently located in the heart of Corktown. Unit has a private entrance, large bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom.
  • Michelle's place was comfortable and spacious, within walking distance of some of the best places in Corktown. Great old house in an interesting part of the city.

    William2017-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • We loved staying at Michelle's! We were only there for one night but the neighborhood was great and it was easy to walk to a bunch of cool restaurants/bars around. We'd definitely recommend staying there

    Megan2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The charm of the home and its location make this a special experience. We didn't have a car during our stay but there were so many outstanding options for restaurants and bars that we never felt isolated. (Lyft was always at our fingertips too.) Also, the small grocer, The Farmer's Hand, was just a couple blocks away and had fantastic fresh produce for meals cooked in (and Michelle's kitchen was well-stocked). We also walked a couple more blocks to buy wine at Mudgie's.

    Jodi2017-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location in historic Cork Town. Michelle suggested Takoi restaurant, Astro Coffee, and Two James Distillery, all of which were great!

    Jennifer2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • This stay was perfect for having the true Detroit experience. A beautiful old home with amazing style, the personal touches made this space incredible. This spot is very close to Corktown's best places, a great bonus. Although, it was just far enough to be a quiet, and very safe-feeling area of Detroit.

    Hanna2016-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great place

    Billy2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Coolest spot, the space is larger than the pictures suggest, very nicely located. Walked over to Mudgies on the corner for a great dinner. Check in was very easy, Michelle is polite and responsive, highly recommended.

  • Exactly as advertised! It was a really convenient location if you're heading to a show, concert, game downtown. Michelle's communication made everything easy. Would definitely stay here again if I'm in the city.

This is our home, but my wife and I are volunteering with the YMCA trying to help the refugee crisis in Greece for a minimum of six months. Your stay is our source of funds keeping us there, and we thank you! Original details and a historic beauty. Super clean! Backyard, deck, close to DIA, Downtown, Stadiums, Midtown. About the Cleaning Fee: I get none of this amount. There is a neighborhood group of three that help maintain the place. All cleaning fees are a living wage that goes to them.
This house is our home, and you will love it. Very clean, with great detail. Some furnishing will change once we move out, but the aesthetics and the quality will be the same. Pool room is separate if desired.
We are in one of the best areas of Detroit. We are very close to downtown. It is a quaint little neighborhood with tree lined streets and great neighbors. Detroit safety and emptiness comes up often. This house is in the safest part of Detroit. We are the only area that is patrolled by three police departments due to Wayne State University and the variety of medical centers near by. Many are thrown off by the current state of Detroit. There are amazing small "islands" of great neighborhoods throughout the city, but a lot of emptiness, graffiti, and development between all of them.
  • Great location. House was very clean and had everything that we needed. The beds were comfortable and we slept very well. The decor was very cool. We were very comfortable here during a short business trip.

    Ryan2017-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • The home is beautiful! Love the decorations and classic wood work. We had a great time!!!

    Soldrea2015-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • I knew I'd love George's place because of the decor, which is right in my wheelhouse of mid-century, funky, and eclectic, but our entire party was completely impressed with everything about this wonderful place. The house is spacious & funky, but it's also spotless. We were charmed by how every room was thoughtfully decorated and every space was cozy and useable, not just a bunch of funky decor that couldn't be used. And there was more space than we needed! I had to arrive after my husband, sister, and brother in law, so before I even arrived they started texting photos of their favorite parts of the house. The front room! The living room "mystery" painting! The Eames-style chair! The pressed tin! The laundry chute! Every room is special. What my family had forgotten was that I reserved the upstairs bar/pool room, and when we made our way up there it was like the cherry on top of an already great place! The neighborhood feels safe, and we saw kids playing outside. The families were friendly, and we felt quite safe and welcomed. It is clear that George is a huge fan of Detroit, and he left very helpful suggestions about the local offerings for restaurants and pubs, and other things to do in this great part of town. As an aside, this part of town is defintiely worth exploring for the art and unique renovations that are just around the corner from George's place, including the Up house and the Lorax house. Our trip to Detroit was exceptional--we saw the sights and went to a concert and a hockey game, but everything was elevated by having such a grand place to come home to.

    Brianne2016-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • George was very kind and helpful, and he even checked in on us when the power went out for a few hours! We felt very lucky and glad to stay in this home, and we would certainly stay there again when visiting Detroit. Thanks for everything George!

  • Good neighborhood. Quiet but close to attractions.

  • This is a really beautiful house with lots of charm on a quiet street. For the price it can't be beat, and George has great suggestions for where to eat, drink and have fun. Highly recommended

Few minutes to Caesar's Casino and downtown You are a few minutes ' walk of the Detroit Riverside Park。 My listings close to nightlife, public transport, suitable for family activities. Because of location, landscape, and you will fall in love with my listings. My houses are ideal for couples, solo travelers adventure, business travellers, families with young children.
The house is composed of four old Winsor apartments, located in a very quiet old quarter. Between the four apartments is very independent. The house is a bit old but beautiful, and you live in a house that will make you feel back to the past of Winsor.
You live in this house, you will be very surprised. Close to the bar and a few minutes to the city center. Going out is shops, groceries and restaurants. Block bus, a minute is the station. The most important thing is to get through the Detroit Tunnel. 5 minutes' walk to the casino and Detroit riverside park.
  • Overall good place, would stay again

    Laury2018-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan’s place was beautiful and cozy. We actually ended up asking her where she got some of her furniture pieces because we loved them so much. The only thing to point out is the back alley to the parking spot is filled with potholes so be careful when driving in, but do not let that deter you from booking with morgan. Highly recommend, would stay again!

  • Morgan's place was lovely, minimal and comfortable - both the bed AND the couch. The neighborhood was wonderful - even though we were out and about in the city, we still ate breakfasts, dinners, desserts and some coffee & beer within a short walking distance! (Sister Pie every day? YES!), Detroit Vegan Soul, Brut Detroit Biergarten/Yum Village, Red Hook) As one user said, the back alley to the parking spot is in need of some help filling in some potholes. But we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again!

Sunny, welcoming one bedroom apartment located right in the middle of Midtown. Includes parking! Tucked in a 2nd floor corner of a historic building the space has an updated kitchen and bathroom. Fits two in bedroom and one (or two snugly) on couch in living room. Convenient location just blocks away from the Q-Line, shops, restaurants, museums and less than 5 minutes from downtown. Visit Detroit and explore the midtown neighborhood with this cozy space as your starting point.
This is a lovely, bright corner apartment located on the 2nd floor of a 1920’s building in Midtown, Detroit. The apartment itself is efficient in size overall with a large living area. Wifi is available in the apartment and I have a TV set up with Hulu and Netflix. One parking space in the front driveway is included in your stay!

The Duck 'N' Roll inn is a three bedroom home situated on a urban duck farm. A combination of contemporary features and old-time cottage charm will keep you comfortable and cozy while you enjoy Detroit's east side. It is close to Grosse Pointe, and most Detroit destinations are quickly reached by freeway.
The Duck 'N' Roll Inn has been a home to journalists, documentary filmmakers, artists, performers, urban planners and explorers, and this year, a temporary home for families reuniting. It's been a joy to teach the kids about the ducks! The "Duck 'N' Roll Inn" is an eclectic farmhouse on an urban duck farm, officially known as Laid In Detroit. The farm provides pasture raised duck eggs to Rock City Eatery, as well as local residents. Located in the easy-going east side, Laid In Detroit was voted "Best Inner City Duck Farm" by the staff of the Metro Times. Though it's not so much an "inner city" vibe as it is a laid back oasis amongst urban sprawl. It encompasses 4 city lots full of trees and garden, The house has 3 bedrooms--a nautical room, and kid friendly room, and a spacious bedroom known as "the disco room," which features a large skylight, a woodburning stove, enormous chalk boards, and a sound system with a disco ball so that it doubles as a dance floor! There is one full bath with an extra wide jacuzzi tub, as well as a half bath on the first floor. The property also features a steel bbq in the form of a dinosaur, an adobe pizza oven on site, as well as panoramic views of the gardens and the ducks frolicking in the pasture. We have a new addition to the farm! Meg, the livestock guardian dog is keeping us safe from predators and prowlers. Great Pyrenees guardian dogs are known for their friendly, gentle demeanor, as well as their superior livestock guarding abilities. When you meet her, give her a biscuit and a pat. She loves guests! (By the way, the dog is off limits to the house unless invited! No worries if you are allergic or not an animal lover.) The house is full of character with a large kitchen and dining area. The property also has many ecological features, such as a green roof over the duck coop. Your stay here will not only be relaxing and fun, but educational as well. Typical guests who have really enjoyed the Duck 'N' Roll Inn are artists, urban gardening fans, photographers, journalists, film makers, animal lovers, students, musicians, world travelers and anyone with an adventurous mindset. You can also rest easy knowing that the money from your reservation is going directly to a small farm business in a developing neighborhood in Detroit. Laid In Detroit has hosts many events, including an annual Easter party for the kids.
Cornerstone Village, once a stable working class neighborhood founded by Belgian immigrants (some refer to it as "the Belgian triangle") has also been affected by the recent mass exodus from Detroit. But a strong coalition of homeowners with deep roots in the community have held things together. You will encounter some blight and vacant homes in the neighborhood. There are characters, and oftentimes people are out and about, playing music and socializing, but it is a friendly neighborhood. All guests have had a safe experience here. There are many great restaurants nearby, as well as bars, pubs, and grocery stores. The Cadieux Cafe and Ye Olde Tap Room have been around for a century. Trader Joe's and Kroger grocery are within walking distance.
  • I think yes book it ! felt like the house was ours for the few days we where there. Suzanne is easy going and helpful with tips. The ducks where easy going to and quite. The cat said Hello on day one than left us alone. All good i would go back and probably wil (Website hidden by Airbnb)

  • Suzanne was helpful and always responded quickly when we had questions. The house was exactly as pictured. The neighborhood was fine. We knew we were in for a bit of an urban adventure so a changing neighborhood doesn't really phase us. This is a very convenient place to say if you are visiting anyone in the Grosse Pointes.

    Andrea2014-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Suzanne was great. Description is very accurate to the state of the neighborhood. Neighborhood has clearly been affected, but we all felt safe.

  • We had a wonderful time at the Duck 'N' Roll Inn. The house was very spacious for the four of us (a couple and two singles). The pictures don't do it justice! It has wonderful architectural details, including amazing light and a great kitchen set up. We had a lot of fun in the yard feeding the ducks, and it was the middle of winter so that I can only imagine how much better it must be in warmer months. The location is about a fifteen minute drive to downtown (maybe closer - there was a snowstorm during our stay that slowed us down considerably), but it's VERY convenient to the stores and restaurants in Grosse Point, a tony suburb of Detroit. As others have said, the house is not in the best neighborhood of Detroit, but it's far from the worst and we never felt remotely unsafe during our stay.

    Marco2013-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at the urban duck farm. The house is quirky and artistic. We loved the upstairs loft and wonderful bathroom (good water pressure and large tub were a plus), both complete with skylights. We cooked a light lunch in the kitchen. Suzanne even had coffee and cream available for us. The neighborhood has blighted homes, but we thought the property was secure. The big guard dog, Meg, actually started barking in a i-think-someone's-afoot sort of way when I woke up and walked around upstairs in the morning. Coincidence? Maybe - but I felt safe knowing she was guarding the property. She was a gentle giant when we met. We would stay here again and were happy with our experience.

  • Clean, comfortable accommodations. Suzanne was a great host. Loved the ducks, dog, and whirlpool!

  • Great place to stay. Clean, comfortable, close to the museums. I didn't meet Jeremy but he answered quickly to my text message and was very hospitable.

  • Jeremy's place in Detroit's Midtown neighborhood was great. Considering we rented his entire townhouse, the value was superb. It was very clean and nicely laid out. The kitchen was well equiped. The immediate neighborhood consisted of a few blocks of similar townhouses. We were very close to several of Detroit's major museums and there were a lot of good restaurants close at hand. We felt safe in the neighborhood, exploring it into the evening hours. Public transportation -- we left our car parked in Jeremy's garage -- was close by and moderately priced. Unfortunately, Detroit's public transportation system was not all that user friendly. That said, we had a wonderful visit to the city. The Midtown neighborhood was very nice and downtown and the riverfront were quite impressive. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Jeremy's place and would return in a heartbeat.

  • this was the perfect location for us to access Wayne State University. I loved the location. We ate locally at Chartreusse (very good) and also had cofffe at The Great Lakes Brewing Compnay ( awesome vibe and great coffee). Communication, and check in were so easy with Jeremy! We would definitely stay here again!

  • Jeremy’s place was clean and cozy. All of Detroit was easily accessible by a short ride on the Q-line or Uber. Definitely would recommend this place!

    Krista2018-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • Jeremy's place was great! He even let me use his bike which came in handy riding to Wayne State each day for the conference. The house was clean, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay.

  • Jeremy was a great host. Very quick to respond and everything was easy. This was a perfect place for us to stay, very close to everything we needed and comfortable accommodations. We comfortably slept four people and enjoyed hanging out in the airbnb since the weather did not cooperate with our plans. Stylish place and very homey. Loved having the garage to pull right in and unload our stuff. I would definitely recommend it!

    Abigail2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jeremy’s place was great! I came to Detroit for an interview by myself and I felt very safe - I especially liked having a private garage directly connected to the townhouse, so I never had to walk outside. The place was clean and looks exactly like the pictures shown. The bed was comfortable and plenty of towels were provided. I would stay here again!

  • I am a bit familiar with the city of Hamtramck and I couldn't ask for a better place to stay while visiting. Close to Keyworth to see the Detroit City FC and a short uber ride away from Corktown and Cass Corridor in Detroit. The place has great style and communication was amazing. Checking in and out was seamless and easy. I highly recommend Morgan and her surf shack!

    Natalee2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Not only was the unit perfect, Morgan went above and beyond to make sure our stay was excellent. I would have given 10 stars, but 5 was the max.

    Chris2017-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • The decor is very well put together, everything was clean and simple as well. It's very close to Detroit for anyone traveling! The only downside is the neighborhood is really busy and the streets are packed with cars but that's not really that bad, you are provided with private parking which is really nice.

    Anthony2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very cute and clean place, pictures are accurate and Morgan was wonderful - she gave us a long list of places to eat while in Detroit!

    Ashlee2017-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Morgan & the surf shack are totally rad! So easy to enter the space, awesome communication. The cleanest Airbnb I've ever stayed in & a super comfy bed. Morgan gave us incredible recommendations in the neighborhood & was so lovely & kind. Also, free parking was clutch! Stay here & fall in love with Detroit!
