Walk to Belle Isle, 6 min drive to downtown! A spacious 1BR corner loft overlooking the river and two parks. Lots of light and beautiful view. Convenient location off Jefferson Ave and Detroit's Riverwalk. Gated parking for one car. First time visitors to Detroit and city regulars will enjoy using my loft as a base of operations. I've been a contributing author to Wildsam Field Guides, an eclectic guidebook publisher, and have great recommendations for most cravings in this unique city.
I have a few spaces in Detroit. If this loft is unavailable, check one of my other cool spots: https://www.airbnb.com/users/6405993/listings This loft is beautiful, open, and full of light. A perfect retreat in Detroit. I grew up in Montana, lived in India for a few years, and ran a journalism startup in Detroit called Jaunt, so I have decorated my place with remnants of my travels. I also contributed to a Detroit guidebook called WildSam Field Guides, so I can help you put together a good itinerary or fill any holes you might have. I mostly live on my sailboat during the summer and I teach Marine Science on a sailing school vessel. The loft is all open except for the bathroom. The bedroom is separated by a wall without a ceiling. The kitchen has all the basic essentials and utensils plus coffee, tea, cereal, oatmeal, etc. for breakfast. I have an HDTV with Blu-Ray, Roku, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and an HD OTR antennae for NBC, ABC, FOX, etc. Then there's the bed. Queen and super comfortable - I splurged on the bed because good sleep is really important to me. For extra guests, there is a queen pull-out sofa in the common area. The apartment can accommodate up to four (two in each queen bed) but you're starting to get a little cramped. I will decline requests for greater than four people unless you have a special circumstance. There are two A/C units: one window-mounted right next to the bed and the other in the living room space. They do a good job on the loft 90% of the time, but if the sun is glaring and it is scorching hot, they won't be able to create the refrigerated A/C frigidity we are used to with central air. The bedroom unit works perfectly if you shut the door to the common area. In the winter, you can turn the heat up as much as you like and make it toasty warm.
I moved here in October, 2014 from the nearby West Village area where there are a few great new restaurants, like Craft Work, Detroit Vegan Soul, and Red Hook Coffee. The loft is on the Riverwalk, which is a bike/walk trail connecting you to downtown and Eastern Market via the Dequindre Cut, a converted rail line that runs off of the Riverwalk. I am also walking distance to the Belle Isle bridge. The building is kitty corner to a Coast Guard base, a U.S. Federal building, and the offices of a private security firm. The streets are lit and other residents of the building are frequently coming and going. I have always felt that the area around where I live is quite safe.
  • Thane was great. Friendly, knowledgeable, prompt. Place was wonderful. High ceilings, great light. Lots of interesting stuff.

  • We are regular visitors to Detroit. Finding new territories and enjoying the different styles of neighborhoods, and living spaces is what makes the airbnb experience so unique. Iron Street was as "Banksy" in person as it was in the photos. Thane...you did an awesome job my friend, with the art-deco, Just walking up the stairs and down the brick hallways put us right in the heart of Greenwich Village, Downtown Capetown South Africa, and London all while walking down the hall to Visit Miles Davis..All rolled into one experience. The Visitor-Contact, was a polite woman who knew a lot about everything. ..which was a great amenity in itself. Thane was quite accessible and the loft was impeccably clean and neat. Great heat, plenty of linens and one of the Best 2 pillows, I have ever laid my head on. Only a few miles from everything,UBER was definitely the way to go. Heck, there's even a gym, barbershop and hair salon right downstairs. Areas of opportunity to really have made a better experience, would be to have more modern Television equipment. Yes, there was a "working" television, but it took quite an effort to operate it and get even the most local television stations. (4 channels just didn't cut it, and ROKU...was non-existant. The home is so nice, that we wanted to just stay there and work and watch tv...which was part of our work...and we had major issues until the Host-Contact person came to assist to find us 4 channels. Laundry could not be done, because the washing machines that are available in the building are obsolete, rusted and not very sanitary. This isn't an issue if you are only staying a couple of nights, but I would bring extra garments if you plan to stay more than a few days. Last but not least, the walls and flooring in this unit are virtually paper thin, and we could hear phone conversations, of the neighbors above us and below us. We could hear every conversation, every laugh, every cough, every Song, every toilet flush a as late as 2am, and as early as 3am. We were deprived of sleep every night. Unless you are a party animal, a heavy sleeper who has plenty of clothes, and a great imagination (who doesn't like tv), I would not recommend stay here until some of these things are addressed. I can't say enough that Thane was awesome and his efforts to make us feel comfortable under all of these circumstances deserve much applause because had it not been for his professionalism and gracious efforts, we would have left. Instead, we made it work, Because we really think none of these things were in Thanes control. He totally made his loft a super cool hang out. And if it were a way to ask the neighbors to quiet it down a little, we'd definitely stay again. Because of THANE.

  • Thane's airy and spacious loft in Detroit was the perfect place to stay for the long weekend. Thane was a gracious and accommodating host. He gave us excellent recommendations for sightseeing & dining. All within comfortable driving distance from his place. Also- there were plenty of spaces to park near the front of the building which was a huge plus. Thanks for everything, Thane!

  • Great space. Great experience!

  • Beautiful loft with an awesome view

    Anthony2018-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful apartment! The place is fantastic indeed. It has everything that you might need during your stay. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. Thane is as incredible as his apartment. He sent us this list of recommendations of restaurants and places to visit so we could plan our visit. The communication with him was all the time fantastic. He gave me very clear instructions on how to get the keys and responded immediately when I tried to contact him after we checked in. Overall, it was a wonderful visit. Thank you very much, Thane!

    Teresa2016-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had an awesome time at Thane's! Karen and he were fantastic hosts, met us on arrival, and took great care! We would recommend this place to anyone, great views of the river and a quick ride to downtown nightlife. The loft was roomy and felt like home. Thanks!!!

  • I loved my stay here! They were so welcoming and made sure I had a good experience. Since it was so cold I loved staying at the loft. I would definitely stay here again. The only thing is the thin walls and the people above, but that's nothing they can control.

A beautiful, open, airy loft space housed within a completely renovated 1926 industrial building. Centrally located on Woodward Avenue, steps away from the Amsterdam stop of the newly-installed QLINE in New Center. Hop on, and be anywhere you'd like in New Center, Midtown, or Downtown in minutes. Relax, you're home.
This is a modern loft apartment housed within a completely renovated 1926 building that originally housed graphic artists for General Motors, and other companies. Designed by famed-Detroit architect Albert Kahn, you'll notice the signature art-deco front-facade and incredible lobby of the building. All the character of the loft is still intact, from the concrete floors, brick exterior wall, and the mushroom columns Albert Kahn was known for. Home includes a large kitchen, front load washer and dryer, incredibly fast internet with wifi and one bedroom with a queen-sized bed. This building is incredibly peaceful, quiet, and relaxing; while being just blocks away from anything you'd want to do in the city. Kitchen includes gas stove/oven, stainless steel sink, refrigerator, toaster, pots, pans, coffee maker, and any other utensils you need to call Detroit home for a few days. You'll find a single bedroom (this was originally a studio unit, but has been converted into a completely-walled one bedroom unit). Beautifully comfortable queen bed, small dresser, and chair. The main bathroom includes a subway tile shower/tub, sink, and any towels and amenities you'll need to make your stay perfect. Awesomely comfy white cotton sheets are included in the bedroom. The living room includes a couch (can be used for extra sleeping space, but isn't a pull-out), coffee table, and two chairs. 50" HDTV is hooked up to an Apple TV with Netflix. Outdoor space includes a small patio (which you'll enter from) with two bistro chairs and table. Enjoy the sunny back-alley of the building with a drink of your choice from the fridge. Local spots within walking/biking distance include the incredibly beautiful art-deco Fisher and Albert Kahn buildings; Midtown Shopping (Shinola, Willys, Nora, Hugh, Carhartt, Fellow Barber, City Bird, Nest, and more); the mid-century gardens and campus at Wayne State, and more. Local attractions include the city and public art, Belle Isle with its beaches, waterpark, Albert Kahn designed conservatory and aquarium, and trails. The world is your oyster. Restaurants nearby including fast food, Northern Lights Lounge, Falafill, Dangerously Delicious Pies, City Wings, Motor City Brewing Works, Jolly Pumpkin, and more. The loft is all yours while you're here. Enjoy, relax, and hang out. I prefer text and AirBnB message for communication. Taking photos during your stay? Make sure you #thatdetroitloft.
Awesome location right on Woodward at the Midtown/New Center border. Just a few blocks either way to a ridiculous amount of inspiration, character, activities, and restaurants. Take in the Detroit Institute of Arts, or check out the art-deco skyscrapers of New Center.
  • Jesse's loft was just perfect! It's conveniently located in Midtown Detroit, close to all the coolest spots. The loft itself was the perfect size for my boyfriend and me. We were able to make breakfast on a few of the days during our stay; Jesse had a fully equipped kitchen. The decór was minimalistic and super chic- totally my style! I loved all the little details paying homage to Detroit. Don't even get me started on the bed, the few night I stayed there were some of the best sleep I've had all month :) I would highly recommend Jesse's loft if you're ever in the Detroit area!

    Michelle2016-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Jesse was an awesome and attentive host. He responded to all of my messages promptly and the house was explained exactly as it was. The house was beautiful and was decorated so cute! Definitely made our experience in Detroit that much more special. Highly recommend.

  • We had a great weekend at Jesse's place- everything was perfect!

    Andrea2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jesse was a great host yet again. His place is a unique beauty in Detroit. I would recommend anyone stay here. I know I will probably stay here again myself. :)

  • Great spot to stay with lots to do and see!

  • This was such a cool place to be in. Beautiful light, a great workspace, comfortable room and a great place to relax and listen to some records. We really enjoyed this space.

    Jackie2017-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was clean, comfortable, and well located. It had everything we needed. Although we never met in person, we had easy and quick communications with Jesse. We had a great time in Detroit and would recommend the loft to friends and family.

  • Solid, beautiful loft space with tasteful decor. The host was very helpful and supportive via communications. The location is busy and central, but the loft itself is quiet and comfortable. It was a great environment to get work done, which I had to do on this trip.

Welcome to Woodbridge Farm! ...a friendly, spacious & quiet neighborhood, close to all of the happenings in/around Detroit. Enjoy the newly renovated 2nd floor of our 1884 Historic house. The apt is cozy w/ yummy architectural/design details.
WOODBRIDGE FARM: We love it here! ...very special and unique. The street is filled with Urban Pioneers and creative types; artists, musicians, gardeners, and makers. You will find that most homes sit on larger pieces of land, giving Woodbridge Farms a unique feel. Many of the houses in the area have undergone impressive renovations, and for the others the renovation is underway. We have completed the interior renovations of this home, and soon we will start renovation on the house next door, which we also own. From the outside they look a little rough, but keep coming back and you will be able to witness the transformation! US & OUR RENOVATION PROJECTS: We are longtime Detroiter’s. We are committed to the City, and we are so happy to have been a part of the revitalization of Detroit. We love old homes …and we love to renovate them! Zac is a general contractor, and Renee is an Interior Designer. Together, we have been restoring old homes in Woodbridge for the last 15 years. LOCATION: You are a short walk/drive from Detroit’s midtown area, where you will find a variety of restaurants and shopping. Both Corktown and Downtown are within a few miles. It is a very quiet neighborhood, conveniently located to all major freeways. Lots of parking. THE LISTING: Newly renovated, with the best of care. Open plan kitchen, dining, and living. King size bed with fine linens and nice pillows. The bedroom windows are opposite the sun rise. It is a very peaceful space, bright, open and fresh. We are sure you will love the apartment. It is clean and private. We have an office on the first floor that is completely separate from the space. Zac is typically there M-F 9-5 should you need to fax ,copy or have any questions. If you have any special requests we will do our best to accommodate you, if given a bit of notice. We live 2 blocks away from the apartment should anything urgent come up.
  • This place is even more gorgeous than the pictures if you can believe it. Centrally located in Detroit it's not that far from anywhere. I couldn't think of one thing that didn't impress me, and we love Taco the cat, he's such a charmer. I'd recommend this to anyone and I definitely hope to stay again.

    Chris2016-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • This Air BnB was exceptional and Zac and Renee were extraordinary hosts in their prompt replies and friendliness. They know Detroit so well and are happy to offer their recommendations for favorite spots around the city. Beautiful, comfortable space, would stay here again in a heartbeat (and I hope to have the chance to!)

    Katie2018-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time exploring Detroit from Zac and Renee's place. (If you want to walk to the shops/restaurants nearby in Midtown, be prepared to cross over the highway.) We'd stay here again!

    Emily And Alex2018-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Zac and Renee responded right away with an informative and welcoming message. Their communication was very pleasant and friendly. The check in/check out was flexible and very straightforward. The space is absolutely gorgeous with lots of natural light and open space. Very comfortable + relaxing and such a cool location in Detroit! I love the work Zac and Renee are doing in the neighborhood and I will definitely be staying here for a getaway again!

    Madeline2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our week at Zac and Renee's place. They have done such a wonderful job renovating this unique Detroit house, and were super accommodating if we ever had questions. We are from Mi, have lived right downtown Detroit, but if you aren't familiar w/the city we could see how this location could be easily misunderstood. Don't worry, it is very safe, and many of the houses are being quickly renovated/restored (even the ones that don't look like it from the outside). Detroit is such an amazing community of people and new developments, and this is the perfect place to stay for the Detroit experience!

    Mallory2016-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • We drove down from Toronto to explore Detroit over a long weekend. We absolutely loved this place! Beyond the lovely decor and cozy feel, the house is very conveniently located. We were only a 5-10 minute drive away from most of the landmarks on our list, and we discovered some additional ones thanks to Zac and Renee. The area is still in the process of being revitalized, but the neighbourhood feels safe. We recommend it for anyone looking for a central place to land in Detroit!

    Anne2016-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful gem hidden on the second floor of a victorian home. We absolutely loved staying here. It was clean, simple, and well-organized. It had little in it but at the same time everything we needed. We would 100% recommend this to anyone spending a few nights in/near midtown, going to a show or checking out some galleries. Can't wait to have a reason to go back.

    Harry2016-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent host. Zac and Renee made my stay very easy and their place looked exactly like the photos.. The place was very clean and roomy. I'd visit again for sure.

Upstairs from Slows BBQ and on the same block as Astro, Sugar House and Gold Cash Gold, this two-bedroom neighborhood inn provides an immersive, welcoming travel experience in the heart Corktown, Detroit's oldest neighborhood.
A small-scale, design-focused Detroit inn, Honor & Folly is reminiscent of the way folks used to travel: a few beds above the village pub or restaurant. You'll be immersed in this historical neighborhood that's also at the forefront of the city's current revitalization. Featured in Martha Stewart Living, Food & Wine, Bon Appetit (made the 40 "Best Food Lovers Hotels in America" Awards), The Globe and Mail, Details Magazine, Conde Nast Traveller UK, and Afar. With a prime Corktown location, you'll be situated smack into the middle of one of the most thriving, charming and walk-able neighborhoods in the city—right across from the city’s most beautiful icon of urban decay: the old train station. Admire it up-close or enjoy the beautiful view through the big living room windows—you can even see the Ambassador Bridge! Sharing a block with Slows, Astro, Gold Cash Gold and Sugar House, Honor & Folly also offers plenty of other nearby bars, shops and restaurants within a quick stroll (I provide guests with a list of my favorite recommendations), as well as easy access to downtown. The well-appointed space is decorated with goods made by Detroit and Midwest-based designers and artisans—much of which is also for sale. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed and its own bathroom, for a capacity of four people, with additional possible sleeping arrangements for kids. From time to time, Honor & Folly is used as a community space, hosting workshops or events, but you will have the space entirely to yourself during your stay. OTHER AMENITIES: outdoor balcony | local design | fully stocked cooking kitchen | potential to arrange custom catering, private dinner parties, etc.
  • Honor and Folly could not be a lovelier place to stay. I arrived before my friends and got to enjoy a few hours all to myself. The apartment was clean, inviting, really spacious, and as beautiful as you would imagine from the photos. Great stuff right outside the front door, too. My friends and I are local, but this was such a welcome respite from our everyday lives. I hope to stay again!

    Lisa2015-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Loved being able to walk downstairs and enjoy a great meal and nice beverages!

    Bryan2017-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing location, right between Slows and Sugar House! The space itself is very clean and cute--beautiful windows overlooking the street and a pretty large back deck. The beds were cozy and the kitchen had everything we needed. We'd stay again for a weekend splurge.

    Jessica2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Meghan's place perfectly met our needs! You simply cannot beat the location!! As others mentioned in previous reviews, you are right in the center of what Corktown has to offer! Countless restaurants, bars, shops, etc on the same block and close by. Really close to downtown and other areas of Detroit as well- such as Eastern Market district and West Village. We enjoyed it all & were so happy to have a place so close to it all as our "home base" for the weekend. There is a bike share right around the corner as well making that another great option to get around. The apartment itself was immaculately clean and the interior decoration seemed very carefully curated. We really enjoyed the space! Very open feel & lots of room + 2 full bathrooms and even a back deck outside. Meghan made sure to check on us during our stay and communication was easy and effective. Would definitely stay again when visiting Detroit and would recommend to anyone considering it. Thanks again for everything, Meghan!

    Lindsay2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Best place to stay in Detroit. Love it.

    Gabe2017-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • From my first inquiry on the listing Meghan was extremely responsive. The place was even better than described and we had the best time. I hosted a group of 8 clients for a pop-up salon before Fash Bash and the space was plenty roomy enough for 8 women to get hair/makeup done and move about with ease. We didn't stay the night there so I can speak to the comfort of beds but the living space was incredibly charming and clean! We will be renting avian hopefully in the near future. Thanks for everything, Meghan!

    Julia2016-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Meghan's place is really nice. It's on a lively block with restaurants & bars right outside the door. It's across from the old train station which we found fascinating. It's easy to get to and a fine location for exploring the rest of the city.

    Amy2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a beautiful weekend at honor and folly. It was so nice to be unplugged yet still so centrally located. The place was pristine and we felt very safe during our stay. It was a welcomed comfort at the end out our daily adventures. We stayed with our two children aged 1 and 6 and they were both also very happy and comfortable during our stay there. The restaurants nearby were also a treat, the coffee at Astros is unbelievably good. Meghan was a gracious host and her suggestions for our time there were absolutely perfect. We can't wait to return!

Many of the building on this block were part of his film production complex that produced 7,000+ films. This building and neighborhood continues to be a welcoming place for industrial design thinking. Henry Ford invented the Model T two blocks away, Motown's Hitsville 8 blocks away, Shinola headquarters 5 blocks away, and the list goes on…
  • The place is in a good location, safe. LOT'S of light. I would recommend a sleeping/eye mask if you'd like to sleep in or are sensitive to light pollution. Also maybe some earplugs. There was some rail traffic, neighbors and a dog that kept me up the first night. We moved to the smaller room the next night and I slept much better! It's clean, kinda feels like a movie set.

    Tallulah2017-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is my second time at the loft's and it's a cool experience, especially for our work group to stay together. Only warning is that it's SUPER bright at night with street lights and in the morning the minute the sun comes up. Love love love those windows, but I don't love not having curtains.

    Rachel2016-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Interior as pictured, large space, well maintained.

    Annie2017-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • The place had really cool vibes and was perfect for hanging out. Unfortunately we stayed during a terrible snowstorm so we did not get to adventure too far from the apartment. Thankfully the place heated up very nicely & we enjoyed making dinner and spent the night watching movies in the giant bean bag chair.

  • Nice and enjoyable experience.

    Stephanie2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kyle's apartment is lovely. The apartment has high ceilings and huge windows. It is bright, airy, and very spacious. There is so much space it was very easy to roll out my travel yoga mat and practice in the morning light. A real treat! If you are a business traveler, you might want to bear that in mind that the apartment does not have a good work space. There is no desk or a table that could function as a desk. Overall, the furniture was on the shabby side with some stains and fraying that made it hard to relax and feel at home. But, again, the apartment is spectacular, and Kyle is an excellent host. He is very quick to response to questions and concerns. The toilet was broken when I arrived, and he send someone immediately to fix it! So attentive and speedy! He made checkin and checkout a breeze! Thank you, Kyle for an excellent stay!

Fresh Gothic-Victorian nearby the Museum of African American History, Wayne State, Third Man Records, Shinola. Sfumato Fragrances NOW OPEN in the garden level, perfume shop and low-key scented cocktail bar (search for the latest Lonely Planet article). Selden Standard across the street. 9 min walk to QLINE (approx 10 min to Downtown on the streetcar). 10 min walk to U of M Ann Arbor shuttle bus. MoGo bike rental 1 block away. Rocket Fiber gigabit internet speed. Sonos controls in wall speakers.
This 1880s Gothic-Victorian Mansion was renovated in 2015. Everything is new, clean and modern. There is a queen sized bed and an air mattress. The space can definitely accommodate 3-4 people, but it’ll be cozy (i.e., it’s a Studio). There is ample closet space, a full kitchen, washer/dryer and a private bathroom. The space gets great light. In addition to the low-key cocktail bar in the garden level, Detroit Clothing Circle clothing shop downstairs offers curated racks of clothing with styles that won't blend in with the herd.
We have a great location in Midtown Detroit, many great bars, restaurants, and shops are within walking distance. Popular nearby attractions include the DIA, MOCAD, Chartreuse, Jolly Pumpkin, Hop Cat, Motor City Brewing Works, Great Lakes Coffee and Whole Foods.
  • A clean and bright little haven that is so close to so many great restaurants and shops! I would stay here again.

  • Sarah's apartment is exactly as advertised, spacious, clean, and everything you need. The neighborhood was my favorite part with so many cool restaurants and bars in short walking distance. Sarah was easy to communicate with and on the ball with any questions we had. 5 star stay. Would definitely stay again.

  • Sarah's spot is super, super close to cute shops, many highly rated restaurants and awesome neighborhoods to wander. Plus, we were able to let ourselves in via her instructions, so our delayed travel didn't add even more stress to the trip - we knew we could arrive whenever. Thanks again, Sarah!

  • The apartment was exactly as represented--clean, sunny, and in a great location. Sarah was helpful and responded to a few minor issues quickly. We were very comfortable for an extended stay, and really enjoyed all of the nearby restaurants, coffee shops, and stores.

My husband, Matt, and I have a lovely flat in Hamtramck that has been restored to its original 1920s charm. Our style is intentional and warm, and decorations include things that we have collected through the years that have meaning to us. Equipped with a queen size bed in a spacious bedroom it is perfect for a couple or close friends! There’s plenty of room for an air mattress too. The living room has a couch, eating table, chair, and bar with stools for enjoying food and beverages. We provide a TV with Netflix access, games, and books for when you feel like relaxing after a long day of hanging out in the city. The brightness and vintage style of the kitchen will warm your heart. You will love cooking in this space, not to mention you will be provided with any cooking supplies you need. Lastly, the bathroom is large and clean with a vintage claw foot tub for a tranquil bath or shower. For longer stays, you are welcome to our washer and dryer in the basement.
Hamtramck is touted as ‘The World in 2 Square Miles.’ Located directly in the center of Detroit, it is a diverse city that has its roots in the rise of the auto industry. Anyone who loves history will appreciate the beauty and architecture that still exists in Detroit and Hamtramck. Originally a hub for Polish immigrants Hamtramck has maintained its eastern European flair and guests will find excellent Polish restaurants, markets with delicious pierogi, keilbasa, and stuffed cabbage along with a Polish Art Center equipped with treasured artifacts and souvenirs. Welcome to our 101 year-old home in the historic Arden Park Neighborhood! Located near major freeways, you can reach downtown/mid-town or the suburbs in minutes. It's all the tranquility of Detroit's historic beauty with access to everything the city has to offer! Come enjoy a homebrew in our cozy back yard in the summer and our warm wood-burning stove in the winter. We've put a lot of work into renovating our place and hope you'll appreciate our labor of love in progress!
You'll stay in one of our lovely second floor rooms. Its gets plenty of light, has a television (with a retro gaming station if you're into that) and pretty much exclusive access to the second floor bathroom. Bear in mind our home is a 101 years old and still a work in progress - please mind our dust and let us know if you have any concerns. Summer: Given the age of our home there is no Air Conditioning. While your room has a ceiling and window fan it is on the second floor and can be warm.
We live in the historic Arden Park neighborhood. If you get time have a walk around to see some of the amazing mansions nearby. It's very safe and you will have access to street and/or behind the house parking. The major freeways are very close making travel to downtown/midtown/suburbs quick and convenient.
  • My friend and I were really only looking for a place to spend the night, not anything extra, and this was perfect. I appreciated the typed out notes about the place and there were even suggestions for food. Their dog, Mississippi, was so kind and lovable!

  • We had great couple of nights in Justin's and Alana's beautiful guest room/house. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. It was easy to communicate with the hosts. Definitely worth the price! I would recommend. :)

  • Great place in a cool historic part of town!

  • Alana and Justin's house is so cool. They were really nice and gave suggestions on where to go around Detroit. Very great stay!

  • Alana and Justin are great hosts - a wonderful stay in their project-of-love to refurbish a family home in Detroit. Very quiet and restful stay. Their jovial dog is a happy bonus!

    Alex2017-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lot of fun to stay with Alana, Justin, and Mississippi!

    Anne2017-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Justin and Alana made me feel at home from the very start of my stay. Justin and Alana are both incredibly welcoming and accommodating people, and I really enjoyed my time with them. They provided ample guidance on where to go and what to do in the city on my relatively short stay. I will definitely look for availability in their home again on my next visit to Detroit. Their beautiful house is just minutes from downtown Detroit by car. The house itself is a treasure. It has retained all of its early 20th century charm as Justin and Alana have worked to make some very successful renovations. They clearly care for the history and well-being of their community and are a tremendous credit to the city.

    Michael2016-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • I booked the room for a last minute trip to Detroit and the host was absolutely amazing. Justin contacted me a few minutes after I confirmed my reservation and provides excellent communication throughout the entrire stay. Once I arrived to beautiful home, I was introduced to everyone and Justin provided a wonderful tour. The home was absolutely amazing and there was a cozy/comfortable ambiance. The room was clean and beautifully decorated. The hosts provided a welcome letter and additional information about the area. I enjoyed the short stay and I would definitely return. Thank you so much for making my experience in Detroit memorable.

Up north at its best! Stay in a custom cabin in the middle of Rocky Top Farms, a cherry orchard. Please read this listing completely!
Custom timber-frame cabin was built by my husband, father-in-law, and me with the help from many, many friends. The little cabin is in the middle of a large cherry orchard in the heart of beautiful northern Michigan and is situated on a pond surrounded by birch trees. The love is in the details at this very special place. Climb a ladder to the romantic sleeping loft and gaze at the incredible northern night skies! Wonderful front porch! Locally made art. Amazing soapstone wood stove for cozy warmth and romantic, flickering firelight. Shared outdoor 6 person hot tub. The small kitchen is equipped with all you might need to make some wonderful meals. Fridge, sink, oven with stove top griddle, microwave. Pots, pans, mixing bowls, utensils, dishes, cups, mugs, basic oils and spices are included. OH~ and coffee maker complete with coffee. Towels, bedding and firewood are also provided. Enjoy acres of Michigan orchard, prairie, and woodlands. The north end of Torch Lake is just a couple miles away. Lake Michigan beaches are within minutes of driving. Ski resorts, breweries (can you say SHORT'S BREWING?), wineries, restaurants, farm markets are all within reach for great day trips. This property is best accessed by four- wheel drive during the winter months. You could say we are off the beaten path. This cabin can be rented in conjunction with The Treehouse at Rocky Top Farms- check it out! The Treehouse is near The Cabin, but both buildings have been designed to have a feeling of privacy. There is a wall of pine trees between the cabins. Please be reminded that this is a working orchard. You may hear ambient tractor noises at various times. You should have 4 wheel drive to access the cabin in winter- I am not joking!!! Surrounded by lakes, beaches and hiking opportunities abound! We are located 15 minutes south of Charlevoix and 20 minutes north of Elk Rapids. Bellaire (home to Short's Brewery) is 20 minutes away. Traverse City is about 30 minutes to our south. See the guidebook for a listing of our favorite spots. No public transport around here, sorry. You must have 4 wheel drive to visit the cabin in the winter.... Otherwise, prepare to hike about 1/4 mile to the cabin, and park at the barn. The water here is well- water. It isn't the city water you might be used to. It does have a yellowish cast because there are many tannins in it. The water has been tested, and is fine to drink. You may want to bring your own drinking water if are used to chlorinated water.
We love our rural neck of the woods! Surrounded by lakes, beaches and hiking opportunities abound! See the guidebook for a listing of our favorite spots. Our immediate neighbors consist of farmers, artists, a college professor, bee keepers, a massage therapist, a chef, an energy conservationist and a professional star-gazer_ truly! Our neighborhood is spread across many miles, but we are look out for each other and are friends.
  • What to say about Rocky Top and our host other than perfection. The perfect get away with an extremely accommodating host, she made us feel more than welcome to the point we regretted having to leave and the cabin is everything you could want even if you don't yet know it. We were planning another trip on the way home.

    Timothy2015-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay in the Cabin at Rocky Top Farms. It is set in a lovely, scenic location--very quiet and relaxing. You can step out the door and take a walk through the orchard, or just lounge outside on the porch. The cabin is cute and cozy, and has everything you need. The loft bedroom has a great view, and an ample selection of books. Our host was very friendly and responsive. The cherry butter was a nice detail. We had a wonderful time, and would definitely like to stay here again.

  • The cabin is even nicer than you would expect from the pictures and we immediately fell in love with the place when we arrived. Everything is really functional and beyond that, Heidi put so much effort in the details of decorating the place, that it is very cozy. The cabin is located in beautiful nature and we had nice walks on the trails on the orchard. It is very quiet and perfect for a relaxing weekend. With Heidi's instructions it was easy to find and we could always reach Heidi by text throughout the weekend when we had questions. The little kitchen is well equipped and we found everything we needed to prepare our own meals. We also loved the porch and it is a great place to hang out and get some evening sun especially once it will be a little warmer. Heidi left instructions for the place and recommendations what to do in the nearby area, which was really helpful. We could not have had a better weekend. Thanks, Heidi!

    Anne2015-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • GREAT! Super cute, tastefully decorated cabin with a nicely loaded kitchen. Big property with plenty of room for hiking/snowshoeing/skiing with a canine companion. Nice hot tub from which you hear chimes quietly chiming from a nearby tree. Super friendly owners who gave us a tour of their farm. Oh yeah, and you can buy their awesome preserves!

    Tawny2013-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin at Rocky Top Farms is absolutely lovely. The directions made it very easy to find, despite arriving in the dark. The cabin looks just like the photos, if not more cozy. I loved the wood burning stove and my boyfriend loved the sleeping loft with windows to the northern sky. The highlight of our weekend was relaxing in the hot tub under the stars! Heidi provided endless unique touches, from helpful notes to a delicious local jam to having a woodpile all stacked up for us when we arrived. We really appreciated the emphasis on sustainability by recycling and using wood to heat the cabin. Heidi was always available to answer questions but we had plenty of privacy. I was a bit nervous about accessing the cabin in our two wheel drive vehicle based on the listing and we were planning on hiking in, but since there wasn't a lot of snow, we were able to get in and out easily. I can't wait to go back, mainly so I can continue my streak as reigning champion of northwoodsopoly.

    Susanna2015-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi was an absolutely wonderful hostess, friendly and social but without any intrusion whatsoever. We owe special thanks for her husband for rescuing us from a snow storm on the way in. The farm is gorgeous and the cabin itself is cute, cozy, and clean. Couldn't be happier - we're already planning a return trip!

    Benjamin2013-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi was the perfect host, offering up helpful suggestions and making us feel right at home, while still letting us enjoy as much privacy and space as we desired. Her whole family was super sweet and friendly, including the animals who were always happy to see us! The cabin itself was wonderful and even nicer than it looks in the pictures. The bed was soft and comfortable, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, and we even enjoyed throwing our towels in the dryer to heat up for a cozy, post-shower treat. We had everything we could want for a nice, relaxing week, and thoroughly enjoyed going for walks through the acres of beautiful cherry trees, or, on the colder days, chilling in the cabin by a toasty fire in the cabin's wood stove. In the evenings, we loved sitting on the front porch overlooking the pond and reading books, or having a fire and cooking marshmallows. Our cat Billy had a blast running up and down the ladder for the loft bedroom, and Heidi very sweetly even made him a little cat toy that was waiting for him when he arrived. Oh and don't get me started on their homemade cherry butter that was waiting for US upon arrival... We ended up taking 4 jars home for gifts and we're still not sure they'll actually make it to their destinations before we bust into them ourselves. :) It was tempting not to leave the cabin at all, but when we did, we were perfectly located just 15 minutes south of Charlevoix and just over a half hour north of Traverse City. We enjoyed both during our week long stay, as well as the beautiful beach right on Lake Michigan, just a few miles away. Heidi's Ellsworth cabin was such a wonderful romantic place for us to spend our first anniversary, and we would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and special getaway. We hope to return soon!

    Samantha2013-06-08T00:00:00Z

Craftsman style, 2 bedroom cabin with large windows overlooking the designated "National Wild and Scenic" Pere Marquette River.
Craftsman style, 2 bedroom cabin with large windows overlooking the designated "National Wild and Scenic" Pere Marquette River. Peaceful and cozy craftsman style cabin in the woods overlooking the Pere Marquette river. Large windows on the riverside allow for a spectacular view of the river and lovely sunrises. The cabin has central AC and central heat, but there is NO TV or Internet/WiFi. The kitchen is well stocked with most cooking essentials. There is a tea kettle, various coffee pots, coffee bean grinder, dishes, pans, small refrigerator, and small functioning vintage stove. Freshly laundered bed linens, blankets and towels are provided. The town grocery store is conviently located less than a mile from the cabin. Both bedrooms have a full size mattresses. There is also a futon in the living room that could be used for additional guests. There is a 2 person tandem kayak, canoe and fishing poles are available at the cabin and are free for guest use. The burn ring by the river and a fire pit on the property that can be used for bonfires or roasting marshmallows. A door code enables guests to check themselves in after 3pm. We are available by text/email or phone during their stay if there any problems or questions. The cabin is located in Baldwin which is a small rural town that has very limited attractions or resturants, but makes for quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Cabin is located on Pere Marquette river which is a designated "National Wild and Scenic" river and is world renowned for excellent fishing for rainbow trout, brown trout and Steelhead. The river section directly in front of the cabin is open for fishing only during the last weekend in April to end of September (trout season). It is also a very popular river for canoes and kayakers since it is steady and considerably clear which is perfect for paddlers with basic skills. The cabin is located about a 2 minute drive from the closest 'open all year round' river location. The cabin is 1.5 hour drive from Traverse City (Wine tasting, beaches, cherry orchards) and/or Grand Rapids MI (Art prize, Fredrick Meijer sculpture Gardens). It is also 45 Min. drive from Ludington which has miles of public beach on Lake Michigan. Pleae note there is a approx. 50 yard walk from the driveway to the cabin. Smoking inside the cabin is not allowed. Pets are ok with the following considerations: no wet dogs in the cabin (most dogs love swimming in the river), no pets on the furniture and up to date flea control is appreciated. The cabin is located 3.5 miles from the start of the Pere Marquette Rail Trail which is a excellent mountain biking and hiking trail.
The cabin is located in Lake County which is over half state (Pere Marquette State Forest) and federal land (Manistee National Forest) with endless hiking opportunities. The cabin is located very close to the North Country National Scenic Trail. There are multiple sections of the North Country trail that allow mountain biking and also the Big M trail is nearby. The cabin is located near the small town of Baldwin which has very limited attractions and no notable restaurants therefore this is not the place to come for man made sightseeing that is nearby.
  • Very well maintained cabin. Highly responsive hosts. Amazing views, nothing like waking up to hot coffee and taking in the sounds of the river flowing right in front of the home. There was also a beaver dam in front of the home, so on several mornings the kids got a chance to see beavers come in and out. We would definitely come back.

    Shiva2014-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • It was exactly what we expected. Jade and Russ were great. The little welcome gift was much appreciated. The cabin was really well done and very clean. We cooked all our meals there, saving a lot of money. The setting was very tranquil. We really enjoyed the fire pit and the river running along the back. We would definitely stay there again if we were to return to the area.

    Jim2014-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to get away, unplug and unwind. Can’t get enough of that view! The personal touches in this cabin are amazing. Lots to look at and soak in. I hope to visit again and improve on my fly fishing skills.

    Patrick 2017-06-11T00:00:00Z
  • Russ and Jade's cabin is absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect place for my husband and I to relax and unwind on our honeymoon :) I already miss our mornings drinking coffee and looking out at the river! We also made time for hiking, kayaking, going to the beach and making a few trips to Ludington. Overall, their cabin was cozy and romantic - the perfect getaway! Thank you Jade and Russ :)

    Alison2014-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Russ & Jade were great hosts - highlights are of course their beautiful spot next to the river, a very clean house, and clear and concise communication. One of my favorite parts is that it felt like home in a that they didn't have signs up all over the place like many airb&b's do (on the back of the door, etc.). It sounds strange, but that one small tidbit was big!

    Emily2016-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This little cabin was the perfect getaway from the city! Low key, simple and charming. The setting on the river is so peaceful. The cabin was particularly clean yet hostiptable. The hosts were readily accessible, but there was nothing we needed! Highly recommended.

    Lindsay2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great house, great property. Worth the drive & so nice to come "home" to after exploring local areas. Needed to child-proof a bit for my two year old, but no big deal (something you'd have to do anywhere). Lots of local wildlife but nothing that bug spray or the owners weren't willing to deal with. Overall a great stay; would love to come back and loved the area.

    Lisa2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time. The cabin is a unique experience: peaceful, secluded, rustic, and on and on. The river and the view from the porch alone are worth the trip. We took day trips to Ludington and Traverse city, and visited a few of the local bars (Government Lounge was awesome). We'd definitely like to come back.

  • I can't say enough great things about Harriet's Lake Side Cottage. The property had everything we were looking for and Harriet went out of her way to ensure our stay exceeded expectations. The house was well-kept and fully stocked with everything we needed-- and the extra bikes, beach toys, etc were just an added bonus. The location could not be beat and we took full advantage of the proximity to the beach, trails, and eateries. Harriet was easy to get in touch with and always responded quickly to questions/requests.

    Heather2016-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was the perfect getaway for myself, wife, two adult sons and my daughter-in-law. We all came in from two coasts and across the globe. The perfect place for a family reunion. Harriet was attentive, yet left us to our own. We will be going back! Cozy spot on the lake.

Floyd Gompf's cottage in Lakeside. A well equipped clean and comfortable cottage furnished with Floyd's famous furniture. Has a wood stove and really nice wrap around screen porch. There's plenty of parking. A short walk or ride to Lake Michigan Pier Ave. Beach. Warren Dunes is close by too. The house is bright and sunny and is surrounded by lots of mature trees and is located on a quaint and quiet dirt road. Two bedrooms, one has a queen size bed the other has a double. One bath with a Jaccuzzi bathtub. A clean simple well equipped kitchen, brand new stove and refrigerator. Farmers markets in Union Pier and Three Oaks on weekends. Greenbush Brewery in Sawyer. The cottage is close to many quaint small towns. Three Oaks, approximately six miles from the cabin offers antique shopping, galleries, a distillery, movie theater and several restaurants. Sawyer is home to Greenbush Brewery, and Mesa Luna a restaurant which features home grown fare, a grocery store, a clothing store in a former fire station and Sawyer Garden Shop, featuring, fresh produce, a great wine selection and gourmet foods.
  • We loved the cottage - sprawling, ecclectic, rustic-y... It really felt like a getaway! Only complaint was that it got buggy quickly -- our fault for leaving the doors open in a Michigan summer -- but we made do! Would highly recommend and absolutely stay again.

    Laura2013-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time at Floyd's Cottage. The cabin is a decent size but also very cozy. The area is very wooded, and though there are lots of other homes around it still feels very private. Hosts were very welcoming. Floyd is an artist with a studio next to the cottage. The cabin is decorated with some of his work, which adds to its charm.

    Jesse2014-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Floyd's cabin!

    Laura2014-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second time staying at Floyd's cottage and I look forward to going back again in the future. The huge screened in wrap around porch make it perfect for a relaxing summer weekend out of the city and the wood stove and wooded surrounding are a peaceful and cozy escape during wintertime. The cabin itself and all the furniture are beautifully hand made. It was close to Warren Woods and Dunes which were perfect spots to take our dog to play and great Breweries and Distilleries in the area for us.

    Liz2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • It was our third time staying at the cottage and as always, we had a great time. Floyd's Cottage is spacious for two couples and very cozy. We love lighting the fire, cooking and either binging on netflix or playing board games. The Cottage is conveniently located for us (1.5 hrs outside Chicago) and near nature (the beach, Warren Dunes etc). We will be back again in the summer!

    Ashley2016-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience at Floyd's Cottage was magical. The whimsical and abounding creativity of the space was so inspiring. It is a beautiful house surrounded by nature and close to everything. The screened in porch area was, let's just say, FABULOUS. We ate out there for each meal. The kitchen had everything I needed to prepare a nice dinner, the master bedroom was cozy and refreshing (loved the window behind the bed) and the wood burning stove kept us warm and toasty on a chilly evening. The beach sunsets were incredible, Warren Dunes was amazing and the Canopy Walk, right down the road, was breath taking. Linda and Floyd have put a lot of love and care into this artsy getaway. I can honestly say it felt like home and will definitely return as often as I can.

  • Linda and Floyd were great hosts. Good proactive communication, making sure checkin and check out easy, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed (checking in every few days to see if we needed additional towels, linens, etc). The house is filled with the unique, beautiful art and furniture made and curated by Linda and Floyd, making this a one of a kind and lovely house. There is a large wrap around screened in porch and firepit in the back that look like they would be great to use in the summer (we visited over NYE though, too cold for us). Floyd's studio is in the backyard and he was there most days working on furniture. He respected our privacy but was also willing to help or provide firewood when we needed it. The location is very quiet and relaxing. It's a short drive to the Warren Dunes, New Buffalo for groceries/restaurants, and Sawyer for Greenbush brewery and taproom.

  • The Love Shack is a beautiful property & was perfect for what we were looking for: quiet, secluded, spectacular view & close to Marquette. We were weary of going camping with a baby & this was the perfect alternative. Can't wait to go back!

    Jessica2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • We LOVED our time at the 'love shack'. It was exactly how it is described. Perfect for an unplugged get away! The view is incredible! The sauna was perfect during the cold fall nights!

    Sarah2016-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Bruce and Karie have a lovely piece of property in the UP. It is fresh, exansive, and isolated - exactly what you want in a rustic cabin on the lake!

    Manny2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly peaceful, beautiful, and awe inspiring view. Cozy little cabin with nearly all glass walls made you feel like you were sleeping outdoors!

    Joel2016-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing!!! Great 4 days, Sauna was perfect, views incredible, record breaking warm temperatures (75 degree's in November) and everything was as advertised. We will be back and a couple of our friends that visited us at the property are booking their next trip here as well.

    Michael2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • As advertised! Sauna was great, beautiful property! Even caught a fireworks show in the distance 🇺🇸

    Thomas2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place off the grid. Clean and secluded. A bit more work than your typical hotel or cabin but well worth it. Especially the wood fired sauna!

Log cabin on Grand Traverse Bay in beautiful Suttons Bay. Private beach. Super kid and dog friendly (extra dog fee applies). Grill, swim, read, cook, walk, hike, bike, wine taste and more...
Beautiful, fully-equipped beachfront log cabin on West Grand Traverse Bay. Lee Point is the place to be! Sleeps at least 8 (max 12) across 3 floors with 3 full bathrooms, washer/dryer, full kitchen, decorative fireplace, etc. The Beach: 150' of private West Bay beachfront for your use. Water is shallow (great for little swimmers/dogs) for a ways out. Beach toys, a few chairs and towels provided. We suggest aqua socks for little children given our own experience! There is a fire pit on the small bluff overlooking the water as well. The house: This is a traditional log cabin that is fully outfitted (towels, linen, cookware, etc) and furnished for comfort and a Northern Michigan vacation-style. 3 floors of space to sprawl, relax and enjoy. There's a very private deck off the back of the home. Linens and towels provided. Lower level bathroom completely remodeled and updated in December 2016. The indoor fireplace is only decorative. (please note!) The upstairs jacuzzi is permanently retired and not in use. Neither of these features are advertised as perks at the cabin, so please don't be disappointed that they are not available! Both are for the safety of our guests! *We are unable to accommodate weddings or special events due to insurance liability and facility requirements. Dogs welcome with an additional $25/day fee payable 1 week before check in. Please inquire with questions!
Location: located half mile off M-22, Lee Point is a quiet street made up of beaches, houses and local neighbors & vacationers. It's friendly, private and beautiful. It's a short trip into the charming village of Suttons Bay, and very close to the hustle and bustle of Traverse City and all it has to offer. We're a stone's throw from Black Star Farms as well! The house is located directly across from the private beach. Lee Point Road is generally very calm, but does pick up in the summer due to tourists and cherry season, so it is advised that children have an adult to cross over to the beach.
  • House was wonderful, location was perfect!!! We absolutely enjoyed our stay and will definitely be a return customer!!

    Michelle2018-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Colleen's place was perfect! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves for Spring Break with the kiddos and doggies. Colleen was very communicative, response time was awesome and the place was clean upon arrival. We highly recommend this wonderful cabin right across from the beach. What was especially helpful was her basket of tips of things to do and her check-out checklist.

    Monique2018-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is in a great location with access to a nice private beach, perfect for swimming. Right up the road is downtown Suttons Bay. It's also quite close to downtown Traverse City and not far from Sleeping Bear Dunes. We had an awesome time visiting with family and there was plenty to do. Even though we didn't have any small ones with us, it is great house for kids as well.

    Sara2017-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Great place and fantastic location. Can’t wait to rent it again!

    Robert2017-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • Great house with a great water front view! Came equipped with many items that were needed for us to enjoy the stay. Couldn't have asked for more for a weekend on the water in Michigan! Would definitely come back!

    Jenna2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a great time! House was clean, and had everything we could have wanted. Thanks for having us, we really enjoyed our stay.

Scandinavian modern home within a wooded setting, convenient to the towns of Leland, Suttons Bay, Northport, and Lake Leelanau. Walk to lake access, hike the cherry orchards, explore local wineries, distilleries and farm markets.
The house comfortably sleeps 6 people, there are two queen beds and two twin beds. There are two full baths and a powder room. The master bath has the soaking tub while the second floor bath has a large shower. The simple euro style kitchen is well equipped for cooking and serving, complete with convection oven, gas cooktop, drawer dishwasher, and refridgerator/freezer. The windows and location gives the feeling of being in a very comfortable treehouse.
The Wayfarer is located between the neighboring home, a wooded area and cherry orchards. Within a short walk there is a very nice public access to Lake Leelanau, a great spot for daily swimming and sunsets. The public access even has a boat dock for meeting up with boating friends.
  • We had a wonderful and tranquil stay at the Wayfarer house. Sean has created a fantastic retreat, with a unique mid century design aesthetic that's set on a beautiful piece of property. We plan on coming again and definitely recommend the house to anyone looking for a peaceful northwestern Michigan experience.

    Taylor2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • We have never used Airbnb prior to this stay. Reviews of properties and other sources allow us to make the best possible decision for a weekend getaway or vacation. Sean's Wayfarer Treehouse was a perfect place for our family. The house was updated, clean, comfortable, cozy and spacious (family of four). Sean was responsive in all communication which allowed our arrival and departure to occur without any stress or uncertainty. Traverse City just 20+ minutes away (sledding hill as well!) We are particular when looking for a place to stay. Sean's house was exactly what we needed for a weekend getaway. We would gladly book Sean's house again and we highly recommend the Wayfarer Treehouse. Thanks, Sean!

    Scott2015-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Waking up to nature all around was exactly what we needed. The house had all the essentials and the cherry orchard behind the house was beautiful. Sean was great and quickly responded to any of our questions. We hope to stay there in the future.

    Natalia2015-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I spent a couple of cozy nights up at Sean's place last week. Sean has great taste and clearly has designed/built this house with a lot of thought and intentionality (no surprise to see Dwell magazines throughout the house). We loved the vaulted ceilings, wrap around windows and soaker tub. As mentioned by others, the kitchen is very well outfitted with all the pots/pans/utensils you would need, even a gooseneck kettle for pour over coffee (byobrewer). Good selection of spices and baking supplies. Location is great. One neighbor to the south, but lots of open land to north/east - where all living space windows overlook. A couple notes - at the time of our visit the shower supplies were running low. Our bad assuming they would be there (based on previous reviews). I would just make sure to pack your own to be safe. Driveway can get slick in the winter. He has a plow service, but be prepared and smart navigating it if your up there when it snows. Sean was very communicative and helpful. He provided some great activity and restaurant tips (we loved Redheads Cafe). Seems like a great dude. We're looking forward to continuing to come back!

    Gabriel2016-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our family (six adults and one two y/o) had a great week in this perfect location. This is such a quiet setting while so close to all that is offered in the area. We biked to wineries, walked the dunes, enjoyed the beaches, and ate very well! The Wayfarer Treehouse is very clean and communication with Sarah was always quick and helpful. My two top priorities while away are comfortable beds and a good shower: the Treehouse has both! Sheets and towels were also great. We appreciated all the extras here, including a highchair. The only thing we missed was space for clothes storage/closet space, and towel bars in the bathrooms. Overall, this is a great place to stay while enjoying the area!

    Phoebe2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Every bit as gorgeous as the photos. Lovely setting, beautiful house. Sarah was a great communicator, and we couldn’t have asked for a more lovely place to stay!

    Spring2017-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • My partner and I stayed at here for a week during the peak of fall and the location was perfect! Close enough to the water, towns, and wineries that there was always something to do while remaining tucked away enough for us to enjoy some privacy. We’d love to come back!

    Erin2017-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at the Wayfarer. We loved the custom furnishings, modern design, and clean feel of the house. The location is perfect for touring around the Leelanau Peninsula. Close to wineries, cider tasting, beaches, and other attractions. Sean was quick to respond to questions and even texted me the night we arrived to make sure we were enjoying the house.

This second- story, custom built cabin in the middle of a cherry orchard has huge windows that allow for great natural light. Polished concrete countertops and floors with radiant heat. Sleeps 6. One bath. Shared hot tub. Large decks. Basic kitchen. Please read this listing completely.
Up north at its best! The Treehouse sits on a pond among the birch and pines in a working cherry orchard. Built by my husband and me, with a whole lot of help from many friends, it clearly has love in the details. Large windows bring the daylight in and allow for dreamy star- gazing - maybe even the northern lights! Six person outdoor hot tub is shared with the cabin also on property. Locally made art. Big garden. Access to trails for hiking, groomed cross- country ski trails, and mountain biking all around the orchard and ponds. Minutes to Lake Michigan and Torch Lake beaches. The cabin makes a great getaway for couples and families. There is a sleeping loft which can sleep four and a private bedroom which sleeps two. Limited kitchen has a smart oven, countertop two burner range, microwave, sink, coffee maker, electric frying pan and refrigerator. The Treehouse can be rented in conjunction with The Cabin at Rocky Top Farms. Towels and linens are provided. You must have four- wheel drive to access the Treehouse in the winter, or plan to hike the 1/4 mile from the barn. Please note! This is a cabin and not a traditional treehouse! We don't mean to mislead with the name- The Treehouse is what we have always called it. *Please read this listing entirely!
We adore our very rural neighborhood! Just a couple miles from both Torch Lake and Lake Michigan-beaches abound! Ask us about our favorite spots. Hiking and paddling opportunities are plentiful. We are not far from XC, downhill skiing and snowboarding in the winter. Rocky Top Farms is centrally located between Traverse City and Petoskey. We are located just off 31N. Our nearest towns are Elk Rapids, Bellaire, and Charlevoix, and East Jordan. The closest villages are Torch Lake, Ellsworth, and Central Lake. There are so many things to check out while visiting- or- just laze around the farm!
  • The Tree House was incredible! Warm and cozy yet bright and cheery with tons of natural light. I'm used to camping and roughing it so this, to me was a luxury experience. A perfect getaway for the winter, can't wait to come back again.

    Sarah2015-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful private cabin surrounded by gorgeous cherry trees

    Katie2015-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • The Treehouse was the perfect cozy retreat after our busy wedding day in Mission Point. We adored the eclectic decor of the space, all the personal touches from the cozy throw blankets, plenty of napping spaces, the creek which we canoed down, to the hot tub on the property. Everything made us feel like we were at home, but also felt like we had found an amazing gem hidden away from the busy downtown of Traverse City. We hope to return one day, Heidi and her husband are truly amazing hosts, answering all of our questions over the weekend, making us feel like we were always able to be in contact with them.

    Nicole2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi made everything so easy and enjoyable. We loved the treehouse and the lad back feeling at the farm! Out stay was very restful, just what we needed. Heidi was also very helpful sharing their experience building the cabins and using Airbnb, which will be useful as we build our cabin and are thinking about using Airbnb as well.

    Lisa2016-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • What a delightful place! This was our second visit to the Treehouse at Rocky Top Farm and we stayed for a week. Heidi was a very gracious hostess and made sure we had everything we needed. The cabin was spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable, beautiful and joyfully eclectic. We found it had everything we needed in the kitchen and bath and the beds were very comfortable. The secluded location and beautiful views of the orchard and sunsets are breathtaking. We highly recommend this location for a nice escape. Heidi answered any questions and helped us navigate the area when needed.

    jennifer2016-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a nice stay at the treehouse! Heidi was very helpful providing recommendations and accommodations for our little ones. The treehouse was clean, comfy, and the perfect little getaway! The location is great as well - surrounded by all different types of northern Michigan adventures.

    Meghan2015-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • The Treehouse at Rocky Top Farms is far beyond what's expected at an ordinary cabin. There are so many little surprises just waiting for you as soon as you open the door. The sweet Serenity and the beautiful Farm was amazing. We made some very Cherished Memories at the treehouse and I highly recommend a weekend at Rocky Top Farms. It is absolutely beautiful.

    Lisa2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Love nature? Want to unplug? Camping is great but it is a lot of work. Get the best of both worlds and book a stay at the tree house on Rocky Top Farms! The house has everything you need for a relaxing and romantic getaway. Heidi and Mike are glad to help if you need it but give you the privacy you want. The outdoor hot tub on a cold night was amazing. Our well behaved dogs were welcomed and that meant more to us than can say. Do yourself a favor and check it out!!

Charlevoix provides residents and visitors with opportunities to golf, boat, sail, ski, skateboard, listen to music and enjoy beaches or parks.
  • Outstanding service & location!

  • Great place, great value.

  • We had a great time staying at Justin's place. We skied at Boyne Mtn then drove over to check out Charlevoix for the night/next day (40 minutes). Enjoyed movies that were included with the place, plenty of cookware to make dinner/breakfast and super close to Olesons (grocery store) and shops downtown. Great location, and cool little house to have as home base to explore Charlevoix.

    chris2017-12-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was a clean and cozy little(actually surprisingly roomy) place. Justin was very helpful in helping us settle in and was always a phone call or a text message away. It's very short walk(couple blocks) from the water and the town shops. Made for a great weekend getaway. Highly recommend it!

    Hyung2016-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • There was a quick response time to email communications. The host gave us all of the information we needed to have a great stay. We stayed for three nights in the Cottage. There were 4 of us in our party, myself, my husband our 7 year old daughter and my Mother. We all enjoyed walking to town, the movies and the beach easily from this location. We found the beds very comfortable (SO important in a rental) and the listing is just as shown, cozy and quaint. The linens and towels were nice and there were enough for us all. We appreciated the nice coffee maker and the kitchen table area to play games and cards. We also enjoyed movies from Netflix and the great wifi. We appreciated the fans for the bedrooms and the air conditioner in the main living area. The kitchen had everything that we needed to cook breakfasts and lunches, but we took advantage of the great restaurants near by for dinner. We enjoyed hanging out on the deck to read a book or to enjoy the nice weather. The neighbors were all very pleasant and we would return to this location. The only suggestion I would have is to consider another window unit for the master bedroom and to consider more comfortable seating in the living area. The futon was not bad, but two of us were fine there and the other two were not as comfortable in the evenings. We also appreciated that it was pet friendly. Charlevoix is surely a town of dog lovers as is the nearby Petoskey. Overall, we all thought it was a great experience and a nice cottage in an amazing location. Great for couples or families of 4 or less.

    Jaimie2014-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great rental. A cozy little cottage near Downtown Charlevoix. Even though the temperature outside was -5 F the inside was nice and warm. A very clean place with everything you need for a long weekend.

    Dav2016-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Justin's cottage. He has thought of everything for making a great stay! The cottage was spacious and so close to downtown. The kitchen is stocked with dishes and appliances. Justin provided a lot of information on nearby restaurants and shops, with brochures and several binders. There was a smart tv which was great for staying in due to cold weather. Justin was very accommodating for late check out. We would definitely stay here again!

    Marlise2015-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Justin and Amber's cottage was wonderful! Not only was it welcoming and cozy, but it was also very clean and accurately described here. We loved the back porch and all of the windows. Although we love to explore new places, the cottage definitely made us want to visit Charlevoix and stay here again. Thanks for everything!

No kitchen, but space is furnished with a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster. Flat-screen TV. Cable and wifi access. Please visit the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce website for more information on the area.
  • Andrea's place is perfect. I had an awesome two night in Petoskey. Friday when I got up, I was unsure if I'd be able to watch the Red Wings game - as if was on an obscure channel, Fox Sports Detroit Plus. Sure enough the game was on. I visited a couple cool restaurants including the brand new Tap 30. I drove but I suspect you could easily walk, especially in summer. The flat is located close to both Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands. I hit both during my stay. The bed made me feel home and I'll definitely be back. One of the best airbnb listings I've stayed at.

    Blake2015-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • I reserved the loft for my pastor during our wedding weekend. He said it was very nice. Thank you Andrea, for your hospitality.

    Carole2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Andrea was very nice, she showed us around the loft and asked if we had any questions. The loft was very nice and perfect for a couple looking to get away. Very close to skiing and only about 10 min walk to dowtown Petoskey. The neighborhood seemed to be very nice and well taken care of. We will definitely stay here again.

    Luke2014-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying in Andrea's cozy loft. It is beautifully appointed, a nice space with bedroom, living room area with futon TV and internet and a lovely bathroom. There are many thoughtful amenities including a Kuerig brewer, games, DVDs, and a small fridge. The loft is on a quiet street with parking very close to downtown. Andrea greeted us warmly and was a great communicator.

    Kate2015-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the nicest accommodations I've ever stayed. My husband and I stayed here with our new baby for a couple nights while in town for a wedding. Andrea's place was perfect--comfortable, clean, quiet, easy parking, nicely decorated, lots of pillows! My husband even took a short walk to the shops and cafés in downtown Petosky while I slept in one morning. It was very convenient! And there are games and other great "extras" that made everything so 'familiar' and comfortable-- a wonderful stay for our first trip with a new baby! Definitely recommend!!

    Kate2014-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful location! Wonderful host! Beautiful rooms!

    Trina2018-05-19T00:00:00Z

  • Sean has created a very unique home. The farmhouse has everything you need, and nothing more. We really appreciated the simple, sophisticated design of the interiors. There is also a beautiful outdoor space behind the farmhouse. It is an extremely peaceful, relaxing place we hope to return to.

    Christina2013-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • If I could... I would buy this farmhouse and write the next great american novel here. I rented this for a women's literature retreat... and EVERYTHING about this property exceeded my expectations three times over. In fact I'd like to be married on the hill behind the farmhouse. Sean had me at hello. Extremely responsive. Had the drive plowed when unexpected snow visited. The property is immaculate, simple, understated. The kitchen - well what would you expect from a chef? The beds so comfy with crisp white sheets. Heavenly beds, actually. Enjoyed waking up to the song of birds, so quiet and serene you can hear yourself think. The sauna / shower was a hit. Hoisted an egg from the hen house for breakfast. The "room" we spent the most time in - next to the kitchen naturally - was the back porch. I can't imagine how PERFECT it is in the summer months with the outdoor cooking area. In summary, I am madly deeply and impossibly in LOVE. Oh, and if I may add a shameless plug for the book we were reviewing: My Own. "Live W I D E" ~ first review - from a "first look" at the unpublished manuscript - written 3/22 for the Gray Lady by an eloquent lady. By Elizabeth Mary Catherine Distel The narrator in EMC's literary debut “Live W I D E" is a restless, introspective woman with an appetite for life and it's meaning. The warrior at the center of this medical odyssey dances with her "dragon" of mortality through fervent scribes and scribbles, chronicling her battle with an aggressive and rare cancer - seamlessly weaving original quotes into the fabric of her character, "There is one thing in this life nothing can suppress... not even death" and otherwise inspired, “The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to (URL HIDDEN) Scott. Quotable epiphanies resonate throughout the book's beautifully wallpapered pages like the first, second, and third movements of Górecki's Symphony of Sorrowful Song. Of mid-western values, Elizabeth has always been a perfectionist, the ultimate "project manager" in a big-city industry of advertising execs. Now in Chicago, it is August 1998, and she approaches "Project Beth" with the same strategic finesse and fierce competitiveness with a campaign slogan: "I am worth it". As she wages her war, her narrative wanders back and forth in time to excavate morsels of family history, allowing the story to meander through laughter, disparagement and heartache within the context of the author's proprietary blend of profundity and sarcasm that give this story a lyrical voice as she presses her audience to "Listen to the music." EMC's voice is both deeply haunting and hilariously captivating, witty, and as wise as her Grandmother Virginia she fondly characterizes while exposing striking truths about herself and the universe. In the end, EMC defeats the "Dragon" "Fairy-tales are more than true: not because they tell us that Dragons exist, But because they tell s that dragons can be beaten."...

  • Our family enjoyed a wonderful week at the modern farmhouse. It was everything it was advertised to be and we could not have asked for anything more! Beautful, comfortable home in a very peaceful setting! Loved visiting the winery's, beaches and towns...all within a short drive.

  • What a wonderful place to get away from it all! Sean's house is located in an idyllic rural setting, yet close to shopping and restaurants. The house has everything that vacationers could ask for. The nice white robes waiting for each one of us was so thoughtful and appreciated. We had some dodgy weather, but we were able to have a cookout and watch the sunset from the top of the hill. Loved seeing the chickens roaming around outside and their babies under the warming lamp. I would absolutely stay here again.

  • (Website hidden by Airbnb) what I texted Sean after he inquired about our arrival. Everything about this home is absolutely right. From the impeccable design down to the creature comforts and equipment. I have rented many homes in my day and I always travel with knives, whisks, wine opener, pillows, candles and decorative coverings for offensive upholstery, etc, etc. But from the reviews I read that Sean provides a well equipped kitchen and perfect bed linens. I did bring a coach cover only to protect the couch as my dog will only lay down on someones else's couch. Also its a good guest practice when you bring a dog. The grounds are perfect for a small stroll to the hill top to view the surrounding farms and orchards and a glimpse of the lake. My friends and I are big fire people, all of us excited about the outdoor fire "cauldran". Alas, it rained most of the weekend...on our last evening we had a nice fire in the wood stove in the house. However, during a lull in the rain my husband lit a fire outside and it was AMAZING even when it started pouring again we just suited up stood by drinking scotch and telling funny stories. The extra bonus and hospitality of the fresh eggs and garden pickings really makes you feel cared for. I would HIGHLY recommend this home. There is nothing like it in the great lakes region let alone in one of the most beautiful area's in Michigan. Thank you Sean for hosting us in your stunning home, its so unique, lovely and memorable. And also thank you for the spot on follow up. Cheers! Martha + four family and friends Chicago, Il

  • The Farmhouse was the perfect for a winter getaway with friends. The house had a comfortable and stylish atmosphere that enabled us to relax, cook together and enjoy each other’s company. It’s really an impeccable place to stay. Thank you!

  • Best stocked kitchen of any place we have ever rented, and we love to cook where we stay. The wide open outdoor space was a true bonus to this gal who loves photography and exploring. The iPad music set up in the living room added great ambience to family game nights. Very comfortable beds, for someone who has back problems. We will definitely rent this house again.

Beautiful land, rustic, comfortable home, quiet & private! Take a hot tub at sunset looking out over property, cook in our great kitchen; have a campfire at night. Oh yeah, really nice bedrooms w/sliding glass doors. Listen to the wind thru pines.
Our four-season dwelling is on 4 acres of gardens, pines, and ponds. One small Japanese pond, and a really big pond out back which goes up and down with the river. That's the Galien River which is at the west end of the property. A very comfortable hot tub (2 seater and great jets!) is just outside one of the bedrooms on the porch with a lovely view of the land. It feels like more than 4 acres because there are blueberry fields all around and you can't see or hear any of the neighbors. We have 40 mature organic blueberry bushes ourselves which are free for the picking from July-Sept. There is a pet fee of $20/night. The home has 2 bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a Queen size bed and a small sofa bed. The other bedroom has a trundle bed with 2 twin beds that can connect or not. In the living room is a long sofa bed that folds down to become a full bed. Really comfortable. We also have two Queen size raised air beds which can be set up in the living room, in a big a 4-person tent outside in the summer, or on the porch. 2 bathrooms, one with a marble walk-in shower and the other with an old fashioned laid-back bathtub. And- a fantastic record collection of Classic Jazz and Modern Classical albums! Home has a beautiful kitchen with a big stainless steel refrigerator, great stove, lots of cooking tools and lots of space for creating great meals. Plus a few Weber BBQ's outside for grilling. All rooms have sliding glass doors looking out to the whole property. The big screen porch (14'x26') is great. We eat and even watch TV out there, which is a LEDHD TV. (Streaming available) - Or play the piano? The house is all wireless, ceiling fans in all the rooms and on porch, and air conditioning/central heat. Great for a romantic and peaceful getaway, a small wedding, honeymoon, family reunions or small retreat groups. Three Oaks is only 90 minutes from Chicago in beautiful Harbor Country, with sparkling beaches, art galleries, great restaurants, dunes and hiking trails. Sometimes we love the winter even more than the summer out here...with the cozy fireplace and tons of firewood at your disposal- or use the fire pit and have a campfire outside. You can even cross-country ski right out back and down the little slope to the river! You will not want to leave when you're here. No one does.
Since I've been here for almost 30 years, I know all my neighbors and we're all good friends. I've always felt very safe in this neighborhood. Everyone looks out for each other. (It's a good way to live.)
  • This is such a serene, lovely place! I came with a group of girls for a weekend and it was the perfect spot. It's so green and quiet, but close to great wineries, breweries, and the beach. The house is spacious and there's everything you need. Would definitely stay here again!!

  • Donna' place was wonderful for our weekend getaway with another young family. The toddlers loved roaming around the grounds, and Donna's place made it so easy for the adults to kick back and relax. We loved the fireplace, record player, and hot tube! The proximity to multiple Harbor County towns made it easy to find activities during the day. It was just what we needed for a getaway from the city!

    Ellie2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • We went to Donna 's place for a girls weekend. It was fabulous. Donna was an amazing host and kept in touch whenever we needed anything. We will definitely be back!

    Dannah2015-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • Just returned from a wonderful stay at Donna's Blueberry Fields House and Retreat and what a retreat it was! The home and property are enchanting. We enjoyed lazing about listening to records by the fireplace, cooking in her well appointed kitchen and the master bedroom's bed was quite comfy. The outdoor hot tub was a real treat as was the claw foot tub. Our dogs enjoyed wandering around the pond and along the river. At night the sky was lit up with stars and although we didn't see any owls we listened to their chatter as we soaked in the hot tub. Donna is a warm and welcoming host who has created and shares a wonderful restorative space. We look forward to a return stay.

    Celia2016-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Donna's home was the perfect weekend escape for us city dwellers. Every nook and cranny was warm, inviting, and filled with character. We especially enjoyed nights by the fire listening to the amazing record collection available. After a full day of skiing about 1 hour East in Swiss Valley, the hot tub was a welcomed perk. We can't wait to schedule our next trip in the summertime to check out the Blueberry fields.

    Matthew2015-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I were looking for a quiet retreat from the Windy City to celebrate our 2nd anniversary, and we definitely found it at Blueberry Fields. It's quiet, quaint, and peaceful. Our only complaint--and it's minor--is with the living room furniture. It's stiff, so not perfect for lounging around by the fire. Everything else was great. We enjoyed morning walks down to the river with our dogs and evening dips in the hot tub. Donna has a beautiful property and had everything we needed. If you're looking for a quiet, romantic getaway, this is a great place for it!

    Jake2014-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Myself and a group of my friends stayed at Blueberry Fields for my bachelorette party. Donna is a fantastic host. Her communication was excellent and she made us feel so comfortable. She really is a sweetheart. The house was clean, charming and came equipped with everything we could have possibly needed. This is one of the coziest and most beautiful properties I've ever had the pleasure of renting. I would highly recommend Blueberry Fields to anyone who needs a relaxing getaway with friends or alone.

    Ashley2015-07-12T00:00:00Z
  • Donna was sure to welcome my guests upon their arrival. The house was so warm and welcoming so it was easy to make ourselves at home. The kitchen has everything that you could possibly need in it so I definitely recommend bringing groceries. We def made sure to make use of the hot tub. All 4 of us were able to sit in it comfortably! Thank you Donna for opening up your home to us!

Welcome to Esther House. We took a 1930's catalog vacation cabin and turned it into an inviting 2 bedroom retreat home. We are steps to the Spring Lake Beach and Village, bike paths, a 2.5 mile bike or car ride to the beaches of Grand Haven.
This charming, fully rehabbed 2 bedroom home makes for the perfect getaway, and the best alternative to a Hotel/Motel in the area. Although the footprint of Esther house is small, we offer 1100 sq ft of comfort over the basement, main level and lofted bedroom, designed with easy and comfortable living in mind. A fully stocked custom kitchen with high-end appliances, granite breakfast bar and an open plan to the cozy living/dining room. Small dinette table seats four. The living room has a comfortable sofa, reading chair and 42" TV. No cable, but its hooked up to stream all your favorites. In the basement we have a brand new bedroom with a queen sized bed, nightstands and dresser. A separate utility area with washer/dryer. Nice and quite fenced back yard with a cement patio.
The home is located in historic Strawberry Pointe area of Spring Lake, Michigan. The area is littered with these small cabins that once served as hunting and fishing vacation homes in the 30's, 40's and 50's. We are walking distance to the Spring Lake public beach, the expansive bike trails of the area and to the Village Baker (a must visit for great baked goods, fantastic brunch and dinners, as well as a great cup of coffee!!)
  • Beautiful property. Within a five minute walk of the tiny public beach. Spring Lake is definitely a little more quiet than Grand Haven, but we preferred it that way. Everything was within a 10 minute drive. House was well furnished and new. My wife and I loved our stay. Will definitely be back!

    Yunwei2016-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was good. Clean and presentable. When a slight issue came up the owner was immediately available. No noise issues. Close to some very good eats.

    Rick2016-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what a great job updating a little lake cottage! Feels very contemporary once inside. The house was quite clean and Frederick gave very explicit instructions for what we needed to do regarding coming and going. We enjoyed walking down to the lake (although the public beach is very small) and having a great bike path a half a block away. We drove to some of the neighboring towns for most of our dining and shopping, but it was nice to have the bakery a few blocks away for coffee or breakfast in the morning. If I had one thing I could add to my wish list, an outdoor seating area would be great. We had some beautiful weather while we were visiting and it would have been lovely to cook and eat outside. Perhaps that's part of renovation phase 2! :) It was a great trip...thanks, Frederick!

    Jennifer2016-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This was a terrific AirBnB for a long-weekend getaway. I particularly appreciated the quality and well-stocked cookware.

    Mark2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautifully remodeled home that is located a block-and-a-half from a small sandy beach area and a block from the public walking / bike trail. The location was phenomenal! It was very clean and the beds/linens were extremely comfortable. Because the house is spread between three levels it felt more spacious than the 1000 square feet. I would recommend this home to other travelers!

    Sarah2018-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • Frederick's place is in a cute little area right by the lake. It was quiet and we felt very safe. Great location! The Home is beautiful and clean. The mattresses, bedding, and pillows were all very comfortable. This is the only Airbnb that I've ever stayed in where they've asked me to strip the beds and wash the towels if I have time. It's not a huge deal, but it was awkward because I was traveling with a work colleague and I did not realize that would be a part of our check-out procedure.

    Julissa2018-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • This home was so charming and is located in a beautiful little town. There is a wonderful restaurant in walking distance and is steps from the water. This was a perfect winter retreat.

    Ash2017-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was our second time at the Esther House. We love that the home is comfortable and cozy. during this stay it snowed everyday and the owner had arranged for someone to remove the snow from the parking area and walkway. This was an added bonus since it snowed everyday we were there.

    Spring Lake, ミシガン州, アメリカ

Country getaway! Located 1/2way between 2 small towns: Pinckney and Howell. Near Nature and Recreation areas. Our place is secluded and along a private road - but shopping restaurants and highway for commute are only 10 minutes away. Only 1/2 hour -45 minutes to Downtown Ann Arbor and University of Michigan. Our Private Lake (no public launch) is GREAT for fishing, swimming, kayak and canoeing. Birds and wildlife abound. Peace and quiet given and expected! Available all year round - in the winter there is skiing nearby - either cross country or downhill. Four bedroom and 4 full baths, fireplace, open floorplan with open kitchen/great room with vaulted ceiling, wrap-around deck and wrap around patio off walk-out finished basement. Fully furnished and well-appointed kitchen. Laundry room, game room stocked with card and board games, bookshelves full of books, 2 TVs with DVD players and large movie collection (no cable TV and NO INTERNET service unless you bring your own hotspot via cell phone.) We also have a firepit with sit-upon logs for roasting marshmallows or weenies.. We have a shore area, 2 rowboats, a 4-person paddleboat, and a 2-person kayak for exploring the private 82-acre lake.
Rural location for those wishing for a place "off the beaten path" and surrounded by nature. I do have neighbors, but am on almost 2 acres nestled into the side of a hill, along a private road, with 200ft lakefront on small sleepy lake. Our little private road is paved, but narrow. No parking on the street, plenty of parking in my long driveway, 4-6 cars easily.
  • Susan was a great host. The lake house came pretty much complete with everything our family needed. For an all around 'City guy' the location of the property was just remote enough to be 'away' from everything, yet only a few miles from markets. With the exception of a bit of rain, which was beyond everyone's control, I wouldn't change a thing.

    William2014-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Susan's cottage. The house and property were really nice and peaceful, and Susan was friendly and very helpful (and made some terrific homemade salsa for us). It's the perfect place for weekend away, or in our case, a weekend UM reunion. Not far from Ann Arbor, but worth the drive for the beautiful setting.

    Ben2013-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Susan's place a couple years ago and when we needed a place for this year it was a no brainer to rent it again. She's the most gracious, accommodating, and attentive AirBnB host we've ever had. We hope to rent her place again!

    Vince2016-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • What a beautiful house and lake. I would recommend staying at this house to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation.

    Douglas2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great holiday at Susan's place. The cottage had everything we needed and being just 15 minutes from Brighton, the location was a perfect mix of nature and small town. The kids loved the cottage, massive lawn and the lake. We'd definitely go back again next time we're in Michigan.

    Devin2015-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful property! Serene and private landscape!! Splendid stay! Just know that although the description of the home makes it sound expansive, all but one of the beds are appropriate for singles or children (twins, trundles, & shared spaces). Susan is very matter-of-fact in her dealings, but also straightforward and honest, caring for you in her abilities to provide all of the items and information necessary to have a wonderful stay! Even remembering to mention that kind neighbors don't mind sharing the dock with you, and where to find every little thing you need to achieve successful campfires. A solid place and woman... Hope to return again!

    Amelia2015-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Our family really enjoyed our stay. My boys loved to fish off the dock and go out in the boats. We would definitely go back again!

    Angie2014-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay at the "house by the lake". The house was beautiful , with beautiful surroundings and a beautiful view. We were celebrating a college graduation from UMICH and we the house was our home away from home. The house was a great location for a party and for the relaxation time we needed after the party. Susan was amazing and answered all of my questions before we arrived, she was flexible in meeting us, and she was great during our whole stay. We want to find an excuse to come back to this house in the future. Thank you Susan for making our time perfect.

  • I was hoping for a relaxing vacation and I got it at this cabin. It was so nice sitting on the porch watching for wildlife in and around the lake or going out in the canoe and trying to catch a fish. Communication with Michelle before and during our stay was never a problem and she had a caretaker nearby if we needed anything that couldn't be handled over the phone (we never had to have her come to the cabin but she was available if we needed her). My only complaint is that my relaxing vacation wasn't long enough. I hope to make it back to this beautiful cabin someday soon. Thank you Michelle for sharing your wonderful cabin with us.

    Jessica2015-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Listing description was very good. No words could really describe the beauty of the area, however. The kitchen was well equipped. Grill had gas. All of the conveniences of home away from home. Saw a bald eagle flying over the lake, it was just amazing. Road getting in would have been tough to navigate with a lower riding car, we brought a truck. Glad Michelle said something about that! We encountered no problems, was family of 8 staying. We all talked about coming back one day.

    Heidi2014-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed ourselves so much! The area, lake, and cabin were all beautiful. We hiked, lit a fire, attempted fishing, enjoyed the outdoors, and relaxed, which was much needed. We think our five-month old German Shepherd Bruno had the best time as he got to run around without a leash, he played in the snow, and barked at nature. Thank you!

    Marek2012-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • The property was gorgeous. I really appreciated having access to the pond and canoeing!! I am used to other airbnb properties having linens, we brought our own, but it would have been nice to not have to bring sheets and towels. Thank you for the beautiful spot! Rachel

    Rachel2014-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the private lake. We were able to have a 'catch and release ' fishing tournament and we took full advantage of the recreational toys Michele had to offer, canoe, kayak, pattleboard, pattleboat, etc. We spent the entire first day on the lake. We also spent a day at presque isle park which was beautiful for biking the trails, sightseeing, geocaching, and we even got ice cream right at the park. We spent 5 days there and we didn't get bored at all! We also saw 3 moose! It was an amazing experience and the perfect place for our family vacation trip. Also, there was 11 of us and the cabin accommodated us comfortably.

    Sarah2017-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is my dream cabin! Michelle was super responsive with the few questions we had. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for a fantastic week. It overlooks the private lake facing West, making for some beautiful sunsets. The Northern Pike were biting like crazy and it was an awesome vacation. I would stay here again.

    Alexander2016-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Our trip started off with a miscommunication between the property manager and Michelle. The property manager was not aware that we were going to be arriving at the cabin and we couldn't get a hold of her to get the keys. I was impressed and grateful for how quickly Michelle reacted and within a short period of time, we were able to access the cabin. The cabin was still a little dirty from the previous couple who had stayed there but it wasn't too bad. We really loved playing air hockey in the basement and loved the view. The cabin was cozy and a great place to go to after our long days outside. We would certainly love to come back some day in the summer and really take advantage of the lake. Overall the cabin is an amazing place and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice, relaxing getaway.

    Amie2013-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Words cannot describe the beauty and special meaning of this home and its surroundings. As a family we had so much fun, we fished, walked trails, boating, ( I loved the paddle boat) had a camp fire, played carpet ball, enjoyed the sunsets on the deck, and relaxed. This will definitely be our second home, a must getaway. We will see you next year Michelle, thank you for everything.. it was perfect.

Floyd's Cabin is a spacious rustic loft style one bedroom cottage with kitchen, extra large living room, wood burning stove Long front porch spanning the entire front of the cabin.Screened porch which overlooks the woods. Located in Lakeside,Michigan on a quiet gravel road, surrounded by a forest of mature trees on all sides. Air conditioning in bedroom, which spills over into the living (Website hidden by Airbnb) fan in living room. Wifi a bit sketchy in the cabin but a good signal is available in and around the cottage (100 ft from the cabin) We're working on that. There are great restaurants, a micro brewery, art galleries, antique shops a short drive away. Warren Dunes is four miles from the cabin. Lake Michigan Pier Ave. Beach is a few blocks from the cabin. It's a short walk or bike ride away. Pick blueberries in the summer or shop at nearby farmers markets for fresh produce. Pick apples or pumpkins in the fall. Lakeside is a quiet, long established summer community. Another nearby small village is Three Oaks, where you will find several restaurants, shops and art house movie theater (the Vickers) . Other things to visit in Sawyer are GreenBush Brewing Company, Joe Hindley Artist Studio, Katherine Doll Clothing Shop, which is located in the old Sawyer Fire House. Apple Cider Century Bike tour is in the fall.
  • I had an amazing experience here! Just as described. It is close to the beach and antique shops, but far enough that you feel secluded in your own space. My friend and I had the perfect weekend getaway here! The art in the cabin is gorgeous and it is very spacious and cozy. I would definitely stay here again!

  • Linda and Floyd - were wonderful. They provided us everything and with helpful tips on places to check out. They had a fully equipped kitchen that was awesome for us to cook in and enjoy a peaceful dinner with interesting pieces of art in the cabin. At first we weren't sure on the dirt road to the cabin, but it was helpful to see the "Floyd sign" on the right hand sign of tree that made us realized that we were on the right track. The directions were spot on. :) Warren Dunes is a must, David's Deli coffee shop in New Buffalo cute place for coffee, and Sawyer for beer and a cute market. We would love to come back....

  • Floyd's cabin was just as expected! Secluded enough from the hustle and bustle of a city, yet close enough to other houses to feel safe. It was a great get away from the city, and Floyd was kind enough to meet us and show us where everything was. My boyfriend and I had a great little get away, got to enjoy the beach nearby as well as many restaurants and stores down the road. The cabin was fully stocked with towels, blankets, dishes and even board games to pass the time since we got rained in every night! We enjoyed the quiet treelined cabin and even had time to use the BBQ grill on the patio. We will definitely be coming back to this little get away!

  • Great little cabin. We spent two nights and had a great time. There is a beach and a park close by. Our dog was able to come along and he loved the park.

    Christophe2014-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended if you want to escape the big city for a few days. Beautiful place, beautiful people. Floyd and Linda are extremely friendly and helpful, this was our first experience with Airbnb and we couldn't have wished for a better initiation. Don't forget to spend some time in the small village of Sawyer, especially in microbrewery Greenbush. Emma and Fedde

  • We loved Linda and Floyd's cabin. It was cozy, had all the amenities and in a great location. Easy access to the wine country, Sawyer and Lake Michigan. Both Floyd and Linda were great hosts, finding a replacement TV when the picture tube went out on the one there and being extremely responsive to our questions and/or requests. There were some minor drawbacks: The hot water is very limited. The bed was really tiny and, finally, it's not as secluded as we thought. Floyd's workshop is adjacent (shares a walkway). That said - we found the cabin wonderful and would definitely come back.

  • Cute cabin! Very private and cozy. We loved making a fire on cool evenings.

  • Deb & Mully met us at the cabin with open arms and made us feel very welcome! The cabin is exactly as listed, it's very quiet, simple, and perfect for two people who just need to get away. It was a great spot to stay for my wife and I who went on a wine tour in the area. My favorite part of the stay was the country breakfast Deb & Mully made (to order) for us. My wife and I really enjoyed our time here and would love to visit again. If you're looking for something simple, this is the place. Be sure to bring your bugspray! :) Also...when placing your breakfast request get the O'Brien potatoes, excellent!

    Dan 2015-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • The most relaxing time I've had in awhile. Mully and Deb were the greatest, the food was absolutely wonderful and the cabin was so peaceful. The hiking trails were literally a few steps from your front door and the lake was just across the street. Couldn't have asked for a better trip. Will definitely be back.

    Julijana2014-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Deb and Mully were great hosts. We has such a wonderful time during our peaceful stay in the cabin. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. If you're looking for some time away from your busy schedule, look no further than Deb and Mully's place!!!!

    Breanne2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is so cozy, clean & nicely decorated; perfect for a couple's getaway. We loved reading in the two comfy chairs at night with nightlights and during the day. The trail is a must do and just right outside the door. Mully greeted us in the morning with hot coffee and cups and then Mully & Deb came in shortly after with the most delicious breakfast ever and perfectly cooked! Must try corn pancakes & O'brien potatoes. Such a treat as we frequently prepare our own meals while on vacation. Plenty of wood was provided for the wood stove which made a warm environment. You will not be disappointed; we're planning on returning when the opportunity arises; thanks Mully & Deb! If you're looking for a way to reconnect with nature; this is it; tucked right in the woods!

    Karen2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Mully and Deb were great hosts, offering us a place to stay at very short notice! This place was completely off the grid, no electricity and no plumbing. However, despite this it was still a great place to stay, both hosts made us feel welcome and showed us how to work the toilet and the fire! Complimentary breakfast in the morning was of a very high standard, offering us a choice of a variety of things (we recommend apple pancakes). Overall this place was a lovely place to stay and we would both stay here again!

    Ryan2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • This was such an amazing stay, everything was very lovely. It was so cozy and quaint and there were beautiful nature trails to walk out back. The breakfast that was provided was so well prepared and there were so many options. I would most definitely come back.

    Alexabelle2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • What can I say? If you like the description, you will have a wonderful stay. If you're unsure, but curious, give it a try - you will probably not be disappointed, and you will definitely have a unique and nourishing experience. We had a magical visit at the Hanuman Cabin and would do it again without hesitation. The breakfast alone is worth the price of admission - one of the best meals of my life, not only for the fresh and vibrant flavors, but for the obvious love and care that went into preparing the meal. Deb and Mully are superb hosts and you will be well cared for during your stay.

    Suzie2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful short stay at the cabin. It was exactly as described, and we could not have been happier. Mully & Deb were great hosts, giving us a warm and welcoming check-in but then quickly giving us our privacy, too. The breakfast was fresh and truly delicious. We walked on the trails nearby and enjoyed the quiet of the woods. As long as you read carefully about the toilet situation (which, to be honest I didn't until after booking the cabin. Though it was not an issue for us) and are comfortable with that, you will not be disappointed. It really is a very special place. We would return for another stay anytime.

  • I stayed at Karl's place with four other girlfriends for a girl's weekend out. Karl's place was very clean and comfortable. The directions he gave to the house was very easy to follow and it was very close to all the nearby wineries, so if you want to do the wine trail and have a place to come back and relax at, Karl's place is perfect for it. I definitely recommend this place!

  • Karl was a great host, we stayed there for two night due to wedding we attended. Wish we had more time to spend on the property. The house was very clean and it had all the amenities we needed. Karl had suggested places to eat which we enjoyed very much. Will definitely recommend to friends.

  • Karl was very attentive to us and went over and above our expectations. He came and set up the stereo for us, started our bond fire, gave us tips of where to go out to eat and places to hang out. Every time I asked him for something he got back to me right away. The place was very clean and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this place.

  • Three Springs was perfect for our winery weekend getaway. It is literally down the street from 4 or 5 wineries in the area, great location. The property was just what we were looking for: private, secluded, comfortable. Karl was a very accommodating host. We had everything we needed in the house, check in was a breeze and he made himself very available if we needed anything.

    Meghan2017-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Karl's place really is the perfect location for enjoying southwest Michigan's beautiful wineries. Our group loved how close they all were! The house was exactly as described and had everything we needed for our girls weekend away. Karl even picked fresh flowers from the property for our stay. Prior to our trip, Karl was quick to reply to any of our questions and did all he could to make it an enjoyable weekend for all.

Enjoy springtime in SW Michigan's wine country! A beautiful, recently renovated, historic estate. The 2,200 sf Carriage House has 4BR 2BA, private patio, pool, hot tub, beach/lake, dock, very large backyard and two fire pits. Enjoy a peaceful retreat or a place for family fun. Close to wine tasting, Lake Michigan, shopping, and dining out.
Our property is one-of-a-kind with a rich history. Both the Manor House and Carriage House were built in the early 1900's, and have ties to Chicago legend, Al Capone, as well as to one of the winery families in Michigan, Warner Vineyards. Both homes have been lovingly restored within the last two years so everything is fresh and HGTV worthy! We know you will enjoy the charm and comforts of the Carriage House and delight in relaxing by the pool and the waterfront. This property is perfect for hosting weddings, family reunions, business retreats, and girlfriend getaways! Please contact us with inquires about event bookings.
Our lake community is very relaxed. In addition to the year-round residents, people from 3 different states own summer homes here and enjoy the "chill" atmosphere. The area is rich with vineyards and orchards. Come and pick your own blueberries, strawberries, cherries and peaches, and/or enjoy wine tasting at 21 different wineries within a 7-35 minute drive. Farmers markets, flea markets, and retro, vintage, and antique shops are dotted throughout the area. And the beauty of Lake Michigan is just 25 minutes away.
  • I was so excited to come across this property when searching for a place my family and I could escape to for a few days. As excited as I was, the pictures don't do the house justice. There is so much character and charm here not to mention each room is thoughtfully and beautifully decorated. We weren't really sure where the lake was when we booked, we knew it was close, but I was thrilled to find it was directly across the street. There is a ton of beachfront property, a dock, a cabin to store your fishing supplies, etc, and even a pit for bonfires. What I found to be so lovely and thoughtful, is the owners asked us each night where we were planning on spending our (Website hidden by Airbnb) night behind the house, the next night by the lake and both times they lit bonfires so they were just waiting for us and they even had smores supplies. Another time they set 2 beautiful, older bikes out for my husband and I to ride. I have never seen my husband ride a bike before. We rode up and down the road until our legs burned and we were out of breath. It was so much fun. We weren't able to use the pool bc the weather was a bit too chilly but we sure did get our use out of the hottub. My children, ages 12 and 5 had a fantastic time in the hottub, they were completely content. They also loved the badminton net, we played so many games together, something we had never done before. Overall, our experience was a 10/10. We had a fantastic time, so much in fact we didn't want to leave. We really hope to return next year.

    Melissa2015-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jan and Dale were great hosts. When we arrived, they walked us through the property and showed us where everything was. Their property is beautiful and there are many more amenities than they're advertising. They had multiple fire pits already stacked with firewood and even left us stuff to make s'mores. They have a big, flat yard on which they set up a badminton and volleyball net on. This was a big hit with everyone. The lake is great and they have a private beach with a deck, dock, and chairs. The carriage house is probably the nicest rental property we've stayed in, and my family has been doing this for decades. If you're looking for a relaxing, wonderful place for your family, with amazing hosts, look no further.

    Matt2015-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Let me start off by saying that Jan's lake house is even more beautiful in person! She was so quick in responding and a truly amazing host. Her and her husband greeted us upon arrival and it's rare to meet people who are truly genuine. It felt like I had arrived with family. She gave us a tour of their lovely home and seriously went above and beyond. The house itself as I said, is BEAUTIFUL! We were a family of 7 and we had more than enough space to enjoy. The home is situated a few feet from a lake. Unfortunately due to weather conditions, we couldn't enjoy it however we were not disappointed as we all enjoyed being inside the cozy lake house. It's also located in a wooded area which I can only guess is even more amazing in the summer. I can't say absolutely anything bad about the place or experience. The ONLY thing I regret is not staying longer. If Jan will let me, I would love to go back in the summer.

    Nazareth2015-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time! The house is so clean and cutely decorated. Jan and Dale are wonderful! I would love to go back next year!

    Sarah2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Spent the weekend here getting reacquainted with grad school friends and wives, and having our small children all meet for the first time. Just enjoying the nature and weather outside was perfect and exactly what we needed. Didn’t get a chance to use the hot tub but the fire pit and bar were put to good use. The little boat house was a nice addition not shown in the original ad and by far our favorite part. Also a great spot for history buffs as it is rumored that Al Capone once stayed on the Property! Jan was extremely helpful before and during our stay but not unreasonable or overbearing. We would definitely stay here again!

    Peter2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Our family spent a wonderful week in the pool, hot tub and exceptional house. We hope to have a chance to visit again!

    Anne2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was extremely nice and everything we had hoped for and expected from the pictures and information given. The home was beautifully decorated, clean and well stocked with everything we needed....all we had to do was bring food. The yard, landscaping and pool area were lovely and we especially enjoyed the decorated boat house down at the lake. It all felt like a home away from home and was a peaceful, beautiful retreat for our family. Jan & Dale were incredible hosts and checked in on us every day and were always available for any questions or needs. I would highly recommend the house and Jan & Dale as hosts...we will be returning.

    Jennifer2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our family's week stay was nothing short of wonderful. Jan and Dale were incredibly thoughtful and kind hosts who went above and beyond in every way to accommodate us during our stay. The Carriage house was beautiful and comfortably housed our group of 8 adults and one baby. We loved cooking food, playing games in the backyard, swimming in the pool, and heading down to the lake. We even rented a pontoon boat for a few days and were able to use the dock down at the lake for easy access. As impressive as the house and grounds are, my family and I cannot say enough about our hosts, Jan and Dale. They are gracious and genuine and clearly have a spirit and gift of hospitality! We felt so welcome and cared for during our stay; their generosity only added to the special time we had as a family coming together from all over the country. We are so thankful for our week on 3 Mile Lake!

The Grand Mere Coach House is in an eclectic neighborhood surrounded by Lake Michigan, small lakes, and sand dunes. Grand Mere Park is a year around beautiful place for walking, cross country skiing, and sledding. The family room and kitchen face Lake Michigan with lots of windows. The house has a queen bedroom, queen pullout in family room, and laundry. A bird feeder adds to the charm. There is also a HOT TUB located on the back patio directly on Lake Michigan, behind the main house.
The coach house is on the Lake with a view of Lake Michigan and normally a beach. It has a full kitchen a living room with a queen pullout and a queen bedroom and bath. Grand Mere State Park is very close containing 600 acres of dunes, trails and several thousand feet of beach. Note: Lake Michigan is currently at very high levels and we have to access the beach from the public beach 100' to the south. The beach is still walkable all of the way to the south into the state park.
Grand Mere is an eclectic neighborhood in between Lake Michigan and 2 inland lakes. Grand Mere State Park containing 600 acres of lakes and dunes is next (website hidden). Joseph, New Buffalo, and wine country are within 15 minutes.
  • He made us feel very welcome! The best!

    Becky2016-04-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is great! The house is clean and bright, the view is amazing and the hot tub and fire pit made it even better. Thanks John!

    Jill2016-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • The Grand Mere Coach House was wonderful, small but the perfect size for a family of 4. The coach house is a small apartment (1 bedroom, 1 bath, kitchen/living area). The Pros: 1. Very clean and inviting. 2. The bed/bedding was very comfortable. 3. Soft bath towels. 4. We loved the location. Easy to get to, tucked away off the highway in a quiet neighborhood. Also, very close to St. Joes. 5. Washer/Dryer access. The Cons: 1. We booked this property at the end of April specifically because it stated in the listing there was private beach access on the property. When we arrived we were so excited to get down to the beach and we came to find out what once was 75 feet of beach has now been washed away and large boulders are now in its place. Now, I completely understand you can not control the weather or Lake Michigan BUT I feel that the owner didn't represent his property honestly. We talked to a few locals and they said back in March there where terrible storms that tore apart and washed the beaches away. The owner should have contacted us explaining we would have to go to a public beach before we arrived. 2. The hot tub and fire pit are wonderful features however, the owner needs to cut down all the tall over grown brush that is blocking the million dollar view. All that being said John was very nice, we enjoyed our stay, and the property is in a great location. We would consider staying again.

    Erin2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely view of Lake Michigan. John is a super host! Nice clean digs. Bed is comfy, though the pillows are down as well as the duvet, so my wife could not use them (she brought her own knowing likelihood)

    Michael2017-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay. The house was clean and comfortable and although there were other homes close by it was very quiet. Great views from the back patio at the main house. Lots to do very close by. We would definitely consider staying there again.

    David2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • John was an awesome host who answered all of our questions in a very timely matter. We were able to check in a little earlier and head to the nearby beach (which is within walking distance). The house itself is absolutely perfect, very clean and tighty. We had 5 adults stay. We weren't there unfortunately most of the time due to a wedding, but I look forward to booking again and just enjoying the incredible view of Lake Michigan from the back porch! Thanks again, John!

    Danielle2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • John was great! He came right out to greet us. Had extra towels for us as well as 'every imaginable convenience' as my wife kept saying over and again. The kitchen was 'lovely' amazingly stocked with very nice appliances and cooking utensils. Very nice bed. Nice and roomy cottage with skylights that made it seem enjoyably bright. The view and access to the beach was great. And the dunes right there. We very much appreciated that John was quite aware of how our kids were enjoying themselves and them to experience the dunes and other attractions in the area. Just a great host and great accommodations! We will like to return to the cottage in the future for the location and because John made it so enjoyable.

    Will2015-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in John’s coach house and were happy overall. The space is so clean and bright, and the bed is hotel-level comfortable, with fresh white bedding and plenty of pillows. The proximity to the beach and state park/dunes is amazing, and the neighborhood is really cute. Our one disappointment: we were informed after arrival that other guests were renting the bottom floor of the main house, and that, like us, they were “pretty interested” in the hot tub. While we appreciate the communal aspect of Airbnb, we chose John’s place specifically for the hot tub and for the sense of privacy and calm implied by the posting. Since the hot tub and fire pit are situated just steps from the very well lit, big-windowed bottom floor, making use of them felt very much like we were intruding on someone else’s space, which made it hard to relax. I’m sure this wouldn’t bother everyone, but we would have chosen another place if we knew we’d be sharing key amenities with other visitors. Aside from this lack of advance notice about the other guests, we really liked our stay.

This private studio suite acquires the best area of our 100+ year old house. A modified parlor and sunroom with traditional glass windows overlook historic Heritage Hill. Minutes from downtown, you'll be able to experience the best of Grand Rapids!
Our private studio suite is located within what we jokingly call the "East Wing" of our 100+ year old home. It has its own front door and is locked off from the rest of the house, so you'll be able to rest at ease knowing that you won't be sharing with others. Traditional glass windows wrap around the sunroom, creating a perfect place to drink coffee in the morning and sit on the couch while the sun sets. The suite offers a full kitchen and bathroom with a queen size bed.
Our neighborhood is part of the historical Heritage Hill district of Grand Rapids. Home owners in this area go to great lengths to keep up to code to preserve the aesthetics of this old neighborhood. A half block away is the Meyer May House designed by Frank Llyod Wright and is considered Michigan's Prairie masterpiece.

  • Quiet and comfortable apartment in a historic neighborhood.

    Douglas2017-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • The listing is accurate, however, i was not aware that the walls that connect this apartment to the main house are rather thin & out of respect for the host, we found ourselves making an effort to be extra quite. The sunroom is great! the only issue is the heating.... it is not consistent & at a comfortable temperature in the bedroom, the sunroom is very cold. and if you make the sunroom comfortable, the bedroom is too warm. for me, this is an issue since i do like low temps, never turned up the heating too much to enjoy the sunroom. as a host, although very friendly, cody did not respond to messages and made certain promises that he did not come through with. my stay was long, 3 weeks. i had come in for surgery. during that time my sheets were only washed once and due to the lack of communication and out of frustration, my sister and care taker went to wash our sheets at a laundry mat. also, there is no furniture to properly unpack. overall, location is great. i enjoyed that part of town, seems hip & cool pubs close by. i choose it mainly because of the amount of lighting from those windows, it is beautiful having the sunlight come in although the proximity to the neighbors is close. hands down recommend for a short stay.

  • My wife and I stayed here to check some breweries out and it was the perfect location. Founders was one of the places on our list and this was 5 minutes down the road. Great little place to crash for a night and we loved the character of this older home. Would recommend to anyone needing a nice place to stay in the Grand Rapids area. Thanks again, Cody!

Newly finished bathroom with shower. Linens, towels, and toiletries are provided. There is also a mini fridge and coffee/tea supplies. The space comfortably sleeps 2 adults. Your booking indicates the number of guests authorized to stay on the premises. Additional (adult) guests will incur a $50 charge per day with our approval beforehand. We can provide a portable crib if needed and families may choose to use the pull-out couch for children.
The Old West Side is a tree-lined residential neighborhood comprised of late 19th century and early 20th century homes. It's a quaint, friendly, walkable neighborhood, immediately adjacent to downtown Ann Arbor. Dozens of nearby restaurants and shops are an easy walk.
  • Great place, location.

  • Greg's Air BnB was lovely, comfy, cute and so convenient. We definitely hit the jackpot with this one. My husband and I adore the studio. It was clean, organized and filled with snacks, water and other goodies. Even though we only met for a bit, we felt like we were being spoiled! It had everything we needed and more. We will definitely be staying here again if we are ever in Ann Arbor!

  • This was one of the most seamless experiences we've ever had. Greg was extremely easy to communicate with - and responded right away to any questions we had. The place was cozy, well appointed and well stocked with the essentials for our visit, and the location was perfect. It was a short walking distance from all of the downtown fun and an easy walk to campus. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it anyone.

  • The studio has all the comforts that you could hope for in a rental space. It is modern, well furnished, and cozy. The property is located in a quiet neighborhood within a few minutes walk of many restaurants and stores. Greg provided very clear instructions for check-in and made himself available if any help was needed. Highly recommended.

  • We were very pleased with everything about our stay. It was private, yet Greg made sure we knew he was there if we needed anything. It was above and beyond our expectations! Thank you.

  • I booked this space super last minute, and Greg was extremely accommodating and helpful. The loft was absolutely lovely, and the unexpected amenities of coffee, tea, and a kettle were a life savor the next morning. Even though we live in the area, my wife and I would love to come back again sometime for a small weekend getaway.

  • Greg's Red House was charming and serene. Beautifully done with very comfy bed, hardwood floors and vaulted ceiling. Exactly as described and pictured, with a mini fridge stocked with water and juices. Our hosts were available and responsive. With a student at U of M we will be seeking to book again. Highly recommended.

  • I live in Ann Arbor, and my parents stayed in Greg's place while visiting me. I can't say enough nice things about the experience - the unit was clean and had everything my parents needed (coffee, wine, fridge, AC, nice bathroom), check-in was extremely easy, and the location was great (easy walking distance to downtown Ann Arbor). I would highly recommend Greg's place to anyone who is visiting Ann Arbor.

Reviews from guests who stayed here in Michigan

The guest cottage was wonderful and Marilyn was an exceptionally gracious host! The location, just a relatively short drive from Traverse City, is very quiet and secluded. The entire property is extremely well-maintained. An unexpected bonus came in the form of Marilyn's animals: two cute little dogs (including Ben, the official greeter) and two affectionate cats (including Samantha, who is one of the friendliest and nicest cats I have ever met). My wife and I had a very relaxing and pleasant stay, and would certainly stay again if our travels take us back to the Traverse City area.

The furnishings in this delightful condo are attractive and a very efficient use of space. From the moment I opened the condo door, I felt welcome. The queen bed is very comfortable and the "kitchen" well-equipped. Shanty Creek resort is peaceful & scenic any time of the year.

The cabin was great for our family of 8 to relax and enjoy time with each other. Our family lives in 3 separate towns, so anytime spent with family is priceless. Sharon was so helpful and suggested several great places to eat and fun towns to visit. The cabin was furnished above and beyond our expectations. This was a first time visit for our family to vacation in Michigan. We loved the beaches, fishing towns and quaint shops. Can't wait to return !!
