I'm an Australian/Singaporean who grew up in California, then went to teach English in China. I got frustrated by how awful the ways we currently teach foreign languages are and what poor materials teachers have to work with. I did my undergrad work on modifying video games to be useful for teaching foreign languages. Went to Grad school to look broader at global and popular culture and media, and generally at the positive-side/possibilities of contemporary youth entertainment culture.
