Sugar Bird villa is perched atop a hill above Cruz Bay and has beautiful panoramic views of St. John and other islands in the Virgin Islands archipelago below. The kitchen is stocked with plenty of spices and condiments (we had to buy oil but that was it for cooking) and was very clean.

The location is super convenient. It’s right by Cruz Bay but also tucked away in a peaceful neighborhood with great views of Pillsbury sound below. You have to drive up a big hill and go through a one lane road to get to the home but there are no worrisome potholes or switchbacks along the way. Just make sure to rent a AWD or jeep for tackling the hills of St. John.

Checking in was easy. Kristen met us at the ferry dock and showed us the way to the Airbnb and got us acquainted with the villa and walked us through power outage preparations in case an outage would hit (which did happen on our last day). She was a great host when the power outage happened and made sure we were okay!

This Airbnb would have been a better value if the washing machine worked and if the air conditioning units were clean and mold free. It made it very uncomfortable to sleep, due to the weather being quite warm. The unit was listed as having a pool and there was no pool. The view, however was spectacular and otherwise very clean. We asked for some monetary compensation and did not hear back as of this review. We were disappointed.

Great place to stay! The host was very helpful and responsive. Beautiful view and perfect location near the main part of the island.

Amazing airbnb find! View was amazing, close to Cruz Bay, downtown, and the popular beaches. I compared literally every Airbnb on St.John before booking this and this is by far the best price for the best place. It is a bit hard to find, it’s a lot of turns / driving way up into a neighborhood, but Kristen did a great job of directing us, and after finding it the first time we didn’t have a problem the rest of our trip. Would book again!
