京都市動物園の開園は明治36年（1903年）であり、関西では最初の、日本では2番目に設置された動物園。 繁殖に力を入れており、日本初の繁殖成功がたくさんある。特に、ローランドゴリラでは日本で唯一の3世代飼育に成功している。

The zoo was established in 1903. It is the second oldest zoo in the country and In 2003, 100 years after its founding, the zoo was home to 721 individuals representing 175 species.

For guests with children, this is worth a 3-4 hour visit. One of Japan's oldest zoos, it has undergone an extensive renovation and looks great!
