Take a walk to the River Lea & Hackney Marshes towards Hackney Wick and back. It's a lovely 3.5km walk (one way) and you can enjoy a beer or coffee along the way or stop for vegan food at one of the restaurants half way through.

Follow south for the Hackney Wick art scene and the Olympic Park in Stratford and follow north for Waltham Abbey and Lee Valley Country Pk. Scenic, full of nature reserves, perfect for ramblers and cyclists. Adele has a song about the River Lea on her latest album.

“This Columbian cafe and restaurant is a Tottenham classic. They serve authentic food and drinks. The atmosphere is very special, and on a summer day you could be forgiven for thinking you're not in London, but far far away... also a perfect place to practice your Spanish if you know any.”

“A local performing arts centre with a focus on the black culture. They have fantastic shows and events and also show films. The beautiful building has been designed by the acclaimed architect David Adjaye and has a nice little café by the entrance.”

“A historic Victorian beam engine, formerly used as part of the London Sewage Works. It's located in a lovingly refurbished grade II listed engine hall. The beam engine has been restored and can be experienced in action on several open days in the year. A very special experience. The sheer size of the machine is impressive. It's set in Markfield Park, and there's a lovely café next door.”
