Great place to visit to see a genuine market in operation. Huge variety of fish, meat and fruit and vegetables. It's all locals here buying except for the odd curious tourist. It's a wet market so there's a lot of dirt and waste all over the floor so watch where you're walking. Some of the meat stalls may surprise including cattle heads prominently displayed along with all the rest of the animal putting up a powerful stink. No open shoes and simple clothing are the good tips.

Chow Kit Market, hailed as Kuala Lumpur’s largest wet market, boasts a lively and culturally-enriching scene with rows upon rows of seafood, meat, fresh vegetables, local fruits, and spices. Faint-hearted visitors might get a bit squeamish at the sight of live fish swimming madly in pails and slabs of meats getting butchered out in the open, but once you’ve passed that section, a staggering array of street food await you. Shaded by oversized and colourful umbrellas, Chow Kit Market’s dry section is much cleaner and appropriate for tourists as there are plenty stalls offering clothes, shoes, CDs, DVDs, and textiles at decent prices.
