The Gallery has quickly grown to become a local treasure featuring many great Scottish based Landscapes Artists along with James Gordon photography in a most relaxing and heartwarming of atmospheres. The Gallery features collections of all art forms from talented local artists and Highland designers. We would be delighted to welcome our Aldon Lodge guests to 1896 so they can enjoy some beautiful artwork. 1896 is just a 15 minute walk from the lodge, you wont be disappointed.

1896 Gallery, born in November 2014 after the conversion of the Boat of Garten village public hall. Dated 1896. We are pleased to say it is still being enjoyed by the local community, as well as our much travelled visitors. The gallery was created to share and celebrate the amazing landscape of Scotland through our Scottish based artists and resident photographer James Gordon, as well as the creative 3D work of artisans and craftmakers. This combination of art and craft is a feast for the eyes, and hopefully it will inspire and arouse the art in the soul.

This relatively new café in the village of Boat of Garten is gathering quite a reputation for its cakes and bakes. 1896 serves soup as a light lunch. It is a lovely coffee shop to visit, with plenty wonderful art work, photography and locally made goodies to peruse and even purchase as a momento or a gift.
