The 2018 eruption took hundreds of homes, but it gave us unprecedented scientific discoveries. See these artifacts in our new collection. We're also proud to house beloved exhibit props from the Jaggar Museum at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. These were saved when the 2018 eruption earthquakes damaged Jaggar Museum, which is now permanently closed. The Pahoa Lava Zone Museum also hosts exclusive footage from this recent eruption as well as historical flows. Visit us in a historical Pahoa Village building to learn all about the history of these amazing volcanoes in Hawaii

This is a must visit either before you go to Volcano State Park or after. It gives a detailed description of the the current status of the lava flow with videos, hands-on items to hold, etc. This is located near many shops and places to eat.

This brand new museum shows videos of the most recent eruption in 2018 and has numerous lava rock samples and photos of the fissures and lava flow. It’s run by volunteers so call before you go. They are very informative and love sharing their knowledge
