Varsamoneros Monastery Perhaps one of the oldest monasteries in Crete. It is located near the village of Vorizia and the Monastery of Vrontisium. No longer functioning but in its heyday it was an important centre for letters and copying manuscripts. The monastery is famous for the frescoes that adorn it, dating back to the 14th century AD.
