Once you have visited the Moinhos da Serra da Atalhada (windmills), you may want to learn more about their historical importance in the Penacova region. Between May and October, it is still possible to observe, in Penacova, the work of the miller, namely in Gavinhos (Figueira de Lorvão) and Portela de Oliveira (Sazes do Lorvão). In the remaining months of the year, visitors can observe the ancient art of grinding flour in the waterfalls of Ribeira de Lorvão. Also see the Moinhos walking trail.
