Gives idea of local history and how the area has evolved over the decades. Records the history of the area from the first contact with the Aboriginal girl, Oura Oura, by Baudin's 1802 expedition, through European settlement to the present day. Cygnet was a centre for timber getting, apple and small fruit growing and processing, and boat building.

This small museum contains a lot of interesting local history from the last 150 years. There are a lot of old photos of people and housing and many family history files. Although the museum is supervised and questions can be asked, the visitor is free to browse the collection
