A state park with beautiful views of the mountain. Admission is $1-2 per vehicle. The pathways are mostly flat with some small hills. My favorite time to go is about an hour before sunset.

Elena Gallegos is a great place to go for a hike in the Sandia Foothills. Located just 2 miles east of our vacation home. Adventurous hikers can hike up the trail next to the access road and save the $2 parking fee upon entering the park, but beware: the access road is quite steep.
