An amazing Bronze Age granite mushroom! just above our farm and near to Chun Castle, an Iron Age fortress. There are incredible views and an opportunity to feel the ancientness of the land.

Chun Quoit dates from the Neolithic period, over 5000 years ago and would have been built some time between 4000 BC and 2000 BC. Four huge stones support a capstone to give a fully enclosed structure. Some evidence of its surrounding circular mound are still visible. This would have covered the whole structure with stones extending to a diameter of over 42 feet (13 metres). Take a walk around it in any weather and feel the history around you

The quoits are particular to the far west peninsular of Cornwall, burial chambers perhaps for groups of people or perhaps important chiefs, they are usually in places commanding wonderful views - and why not, after all, we're dead a long time. Chun Quoit predates the nearby Chun Castle by a couple of millennia making it about four thousand years old. If you get there have a thought about how on earth the builders got the capstone in place.
