The Cañón de San Cristóbal Natural Protected Area is located at an elevation ranging from 748 feet (227.8 m) to 2,140 feet (652.2 m) in Puerto Rico’s Metro-Central Region. The area owes its name to its most outstanding topographic feature, El Cañón de San Cristóbal (San Cristóbal Canyon). Extending for approximately 5.6 miles (9 km) in the heart of Puerto Rico’s Cordillera Central, the Cañón de San Cristóbal is a unique geomorphological phenomenon. It is one of the most spectacular and significant geological features in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. El Área Natural Protegida Cañón de San Cristóbal se encuentra a una elevación que va desde 748 pies (227.8 m) a 2.140 pies (652.2 m) en la Región Metro-Central de Puerto Rico. El área debe su nombre a su característica topográfica más destacada, El Cañón de San Cristóbal (Cañón de San Cristóbal). Extendiéndose por aproximadamente 5.6 millas (9 km) en el corazón de la Cordillera Central de Puerto Rico. El Cañón de San Cristóbal es un fenómeno geomorfológico único.
