Foggy bottom is the closest metro stop. It's an enjoyable (just under a mile) walk in nice weather. From Georgetown, it is usually easier to get around on buses than the metro.

Centrally located and very safe! Right between the quaint boutiques of Georgetown and the historical monuments of the Mall. There's no other neighborhood that checks all the right boxes!
