This is a diverse neighbourhood dating back to the Victorian period in the mid 1800s on. The Tate and Lyle sugar families donated considerably in the area for public works. The library on south Lambeth road being the main one in this borough. The neighbourhood is very safe and can be walked around. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants from a variety of cultures. Portuguese being especially represented on South Lambeth road.

Between Brixton and Kennington - loads of great bars and food, Little Portugal is located in Stockwell. The Canton Arms is a great pub and does exceptional food too - you can usually get a walk-in booking.

Stockwell station is a ten minute walk or 2 minute bus ride. It is on both Northern and Victoria lines - it's 6 minutes to Victoria and 10 to Oxford Circus.
