Chestnut Lodge is situated in one acre of private gardens set in a quiet rural location, with far reaching countryside views. The Lodge dates back to circa 1750, it was originally the horse stables for the farm. The main barn was purchased and renovated in 1986. We purchased the property in 2017 and renovated the Lodge to a luxury standard, keeping all the original character and exposed oak beams throughout. The Lodge is on a quiet lane a perfect base where you can explore Norfolk.
My home is in a secluded area with access to a delightful river walk and the Gressenhall Museum which has many special events during the year. The Norfolk coast is within a short distance:- Walsingham (Catholic Pilgrimage Centre) is 25 minutes away with Wells and Holkham 15 minutes further on. Fakenham racecourse is ten miles away. Dereham's Mid-Norfolk Railway - offers steam and diesel trains plus the 'Polar Express'. The area is also local for Sandringham and the Thursford Christmas Show.
Strawberry Cottage is a sweet little one bedroom annexe, surrounded by meadows, garden and a plentiful orchard. The perfect base for discovering the charms of Norfolk. A couple of steps away from the farmhouse, the bedroom in Strawberry Cottage can be adapted to accommodate one or two adults in a single or double bed. A travel cot can be provided if needed. Please note, the toilet is in the main house, but is accessible 24/7. A simple continental breakfast tray is set out for you.
