A wonderful experience. The house adjoins the To-ji temple which is a must to visit especially on the 21st of the month. We slept very well on the modern futons, the bed clothes smelled so good and the onsen was such a pleasant moment. The house is big and w modern equipment. The room at the back is quiet and really nice. We asked Maya some restaurant tips and trips we wanted to do and we always got a super fast answer. Very helpful.

We loved our stay at the Little House. Everything from the history of the building, to the location, and the friendliness of the owner and staff was amazing. I was originally concerned that the location would be too noisy, but it was the quietest location we stayed at in Japan. I'm a light sleeper and didn't have any issues. The owner was extremely kind and we enjoyed hearing about the history of the building. His renovations are super thoughtful and the space is well designed. The three of us had plenty of space and didn't feel cramped. The coffee shop below is excellent, and definitely worth a visit even if you're not staying here. This home is a rare find in the bustling city of Tokyo. I will definitely be returning! Thank you.

Very nice place with clean and hot tub including place! Drinks, gifts, and quick communications are great to feel welcome at place.

Yukiko’s place was just as described, and the photos accurately reflect the listing. One thing to keep in mind is that the space is quite compact—doorways, stairs, and walkways are narrow, so we found ourselves bumping elbows and knees occasionally. That said, I really loved the traditional aesthetic with subtle modern touches: tatami floors upstairs, sliding paper doors, lots of wood, and a cozy foot heater under the table. Just a heads-up for anyone with a sensitive nose—it does carry a bit of that classic “old house” smell. Location wise it is situated in a quiet neighborhood near Nijo Station (~10 min walk) and there are other Airbnb units that Yukiko has next door. So if you have a group of 4 or more, you could potentially book the unit next door too. Lastly, the in-house 2-in-1 washer and dryer machine was super handy! The machine was also labeled with English translation for easy operation. Would definitely consider booking again if we are in the area :)

Very warm and helpful household (luggage room option). Good location (quiet and few minutes to Kyoto Station). Rooms very clean, spacious and cosy; beds very comfortable. Everything as described. I highly recommend it!

We loved our stay in this peaceful traditional house and Mrs. Yoshino was such a kind and very accommodating host! She would write up a small saying to us in French before we would leave for our day, which was just so kind of her. Plus she did our laundry for us which was an amazing bonus, (and loved the smell of her laundry detergent!) Thank you so much for being such a wonderful host!!

We were welcomed very warmly and felt right at home in Miwa’s lovely space. We loved the traditional feel of the house, with lovely aspects to the garden and surrounding hills. The traditional futon beds were really comfortable and cosy. We definitely recommend it to other guests.

This place was an amazing find. It right in the centre of everything. You have the most amazing shops, restaurants and cafes all 3 minutes away. The place was great to stay at. We would definitely come back!

This was a great place to stay and access different parts of Kyoto. Access to trains and buses was good. The person who did the check in was great. The space was well designed and decorated.

Great traditional Kyoto style house located a short distance away from Kyoto Station. Very clean and comfortable. Kitchen is only equipped for light cooking. There are low beams in the house so if you are a tall person you have to be very careful. The stairs to the upper level bedroom are steep with short steps so if you have mobility problems this will be an issue. Overall we loved our stay and would come back again

8 minute walk from the nearest metro station, less than 15 minutes metro to get downtown kyoto! Our host was helpful with metro tips and the home was beautiful!

This house is located in a fantastic location, only a 6 min walk from the nearest station. Shiho, the host, was very accommodating. She greeted us as we arrived and gave a house tour. She also asked how we were going and made sure everyone was okay, something that is rarely done for Airbnb hosts. Everything in the house was clean and organised, the beds and futons were comfortable, and overall we had a great time staying at this place.

We had an amazing time staying in this authentic Japanese traditional house that blends classic charm with modern comforts. The place was really clean and well kept, and you can tell Xian Jie, the owner pays attention to all the little things, which made it feel really cozy. The best part was definitely the brand-new private onsen—such a nice way to relax and made the trip way better. I highly recommend this place, and strongly suggest booking the optional dinner and breakfast to fully enjoy the authentic Japanese hospitality and cuisine made with local ingredients. This stay offers a perfect blend of tradition, comfort, and luxury for an unforgettable experience. Thumbs up👍

A delightful, charming building within easy reach of trains, buses and restaurants. Located centrally to the top tourist destinations made it easy to travel in any direction and have an enjoyable day and was quiet enough to be away from the really busy tourist areas. We loved our stay and would definietly recommend to friends. Thank you!

Clean and very traditional. Good location, right next to a great Ramen place and close to Nijo Castle. Tall people might have to watch their head sometimes, but thats part of the fun!

A brilliant stay. Yuta was a wonderful host and the accommodation was beautiful, we loved the design touches and courtyards. The location was great and we especially enjoyed visiting the sento across the road!

Absolutely perfect stay in this onsen bathhouse! Hiroto-san spoke to us fluently in English and introduced some places to go for our stay. The place is 500-ish years old and very well maintained for it's age. The onsen was really fun with 43°c medicinal pool, 41°c, 38°c epsom salt, and 1 very cold pool. And a traditional charcoal sauna that felt like fire went into my nose when I was breatheing. loved it! Had an amazing final night as we chatted away drinking sake and beer with Hiroto-san while talking about our travel and life experiences. I would definitely come back here if I go to Japan again. Takayama is beautiful, and this stay made it so much better. Thank you Hiroto-san, for the unforgettable experience here!

Très bonne guest house ! Tout était très propre, l’ambiance était très paisible et traditionnelle, de bons petits cafés à proximité, et des bus qui peuvent nous emmener dans les stations principales ! Le seul petit bémol que je pourrais cité, est que la chambre « Twin Room » est au rez-de-chaussée, et les murs sont très fins. Donc on entend absolument tout ce qu’il se passe dehors et à l’intérieur. Pour le reste c’était parfait. La chambre était grande et spacieuse, les lits confortables ! Le petit déjeuner servi est super bon ! Le saumon et l’omelette était délicieux ! Je recommande ! Et le personnel est très gentil. Vous pouvez notamment louer des vélos directement avec eux, c’est top !

Hallo, es war super. Obwohl im Zimmer nebenan weitere Gäste waren, haben wir uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Geteiltes Bad und WC waren für uns kein Problem. Der Kuchen zum Frühstück war sehr lecker. Dankeschön

A place where you can slow down…the space was warm, cozy, clean and friendly . The area was small and yet vast with mountains all around and apple orchards for days. This place makes you feel alive and yet so quiet and peaceful. Thank you for the stay and all the wealth of knowledge and care for making my stay feel like home :) I will be back again :) and recommend to those who want to slow down :)

Our stay at Yamashita’s beautiful 100-year-old Japanese villa in Kyoto was the perfect way to end our 2 week vacation in Japan. The house is spacious, very clean, and well-equipped, perfect for our group of 12. It has everything you need and more. It has a serene garden, jacuzzi, and sauna—the kids especially loved the jacuzzi! Yamashita is an EXCEPTIONAL host—very warm, helpful, and accommodating. She drove us to supermarkets and places we wanted to go and even picked us up for a small fee. She prepared simple yet delicious breakfasts. She was quick to respond to messages and even guided us on using local buses. Though the house is a bit far from the touristy areas, the peace and quiet of Yamashita’s home made it the perfect retreat. It offered a more authentic and relaxing experience of Japan. I highly recommend Yamashita’s villa to anyone looking for comfort, culture, and outstanding hospitality. And to anyone looking for a truly memorable stay in a traditional Japanese home.

Chieri en haar moeder en hun schattige hond zijn hele lieve hosts die er alles aan doen om je verblijf een echte authentieke Japanse ervaring te laten zijn. Hun huis is prachtig ingericht, ruim en voelt heel fijn en gastvrij. Het café en de biertuin van Chieri zijn ook zeker de moeite waard om te bezoeken. Het eten en drinken en het gratis Japanse ontbijt waren heerlijk. En als je nog authentieke Japanse souvenirs zoekt zijn die hier ook te vinden. Al met al een perfecte plek om even tot rust te komen na het bezoeken van de drukke steden als Kyoto en Osaka.

Amazing location for a getaway. Miko is super helpful and responsive. It is like a private resort villa with a few other people in the area. Was perfect after spending time in a busy city if you are looking to get away into the countryside. Within walking distance there are a couple cafes, citrus groves, and a glass making studio. Free bike rental is super helpful if you want to bike around the mountains in the area. We only spent the weekend here but wish we could have stayed a little longer to explore the area more. Would highly recommend this experience if you like getting away from the hustle and bustle like us.
