Eri was so beautiful! So helpful and the way she showed us around the home and her attention to detail was phenomenal! I even asked to stay an extra day because kyoto became my favorite place in all of Japan! Coming to Japan i was a bit disappointed with Tokyo, but i am so grateful for Koji and Eris gorgeous home and their recommendations. We rented kimonos and spent the whole day visiting local shrines and temples, all within walking distance. It was such an amazing experience. I will be coming back next year and am going to spend my entire vacation in Kyoto. Hopefully I will be able to stay at Tsubara house again!

Stayed 3 nights at this beautiful home. great location... short walk to the metro station and centre of Kyoto. The accommodation had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. Very responsive host and would definitely stay again.

The Hanna Bamboo house was outstanding. It was typical Machiya and the tatami room and outdoor garden were such a beautiful experience. The home had all the bits and pieces that we were expecting, and the location was so easy to get around Kyoto…walkable to Gion and the river, and easy train/bus to anywhere in beautiful Kyoto. Beds were comfy, esp the master bedroom. The washing machine was a great asset as we were on the road for a few weeks. Thankyou Hana.

Great Machiya stay with a traditional feel, but with modern amenities such as heated floor! Also perfect location to explore Kyoto. Tokuji san was always very responsive during communications. Overall, highly recommended!

We came in April — 8 of us. This space was just perfect for our families. We especially loved the quaint neighborhood location. What a secret gem. We are all left wanting to move to Kyoto. Thank you for hosting us!

honestly it was so peaceful that it rocked me to my core. it gave me the relaxation i longed for. if you want peace this is it. locals do ceremonies on nearby shrines,it makes for a beautiful and soulful experience.

Ume's place was a fantastic place for our time in Kyoto. It's far enough away to be quiet yet close enough to grab a quick train (3 minute walk, 2 minute ride) to the nearest station for things like Gion and Nishiki. it's only about a ten minute walk from Kyoto station as well. Ume was a great host, giving recommendations, checking in with us a couple of times throughout our trip, etc. Do note the stairs are a tad narrow (not uncommon for Japan) so if you've got mobility concerns keep that in mind though there is a bedroom on the lower floor as well to help with that. would definitely stay here again.

The location is fantastic — just a stone’s throw from the metro, and only 10 minutes to the city center. We really liked the area because it feels local and authentic, not touristy at all. The house is spacious, comfortable, well-equipped, and full of natural light. Niko is lovely and very thoughtful, which made our stay even better. If I had to mention something, a few things felt a bit worn, and the place wasn’t completely spotless, which we expected. But honestly, it didn’t affect our stay. I still totally recommend it and would definitely come back!

Mulan’s accommodation was perfect — we were happy to sleep on the tatami mats with our children. The place is very clean and welcoming. It was cold in the morning when we woke up, but we were warm and cozy under the thick comforters during the night. The bathroom is quite basic but very practical. The water is nice and hot, with great pressure. Communication with the host was very easy. They kindly drove us to the Golden Pavilion and then to the Silver Pavilion. They were very accommodating and helpful. They also dropped us off at the station so we could catch our train from Kyoto Station. The location is about 20 minutes by subway from Kyoto, and we enjoyed staying in such a peaceful residential neighborhood. There’s a FamilyMart on the street and a little place where we had some delicious pastries!

The place was walkable distance to Kyoto station and in a quiet neighbourhood. The host offered us snacks and complimentary Tea and dropped our luggage at the station which was very kind. The house is big with 4 bedrooms, 2 baths and 2 toilets and an outdoor balcony for washing and drying clothes. Overall had a fantastic stay

Obviously Jinn has a lovely home, but he is also an extremely gracious host. He was available to answer any and all questions and made us feel right at home in his space. The location is a serene and peaceful neighborhood which allowed us to enjoy parts of Kyoto we otherwise would have missed, while still being close to main attractions. I would recommend anyone to stay here, amazing experience.

Hele fijne plek op een prachtige afgelegen locatie. Een goede manier om een deel van Japan te zien dat afwijkt van de ‘toeristische highlights’, een waardevolle toevoeging aan onze reis! De gastheer en gastvrouw zijn enorm vriendelijk en gastvrij en hebben heerlijk voor ons gekookt!

Yasuhiko san was waiting for us when we arrived and explained everything about the place in careful detail, and provided what turned out to be great recommendations for a bakery and a grocery store, both nearby. The staircase, as he warned us ahead of time, is quite steep -- my older friends preferred to stay downstairs; I used the upstairs bedroom and found it easier to use the staircase by walking down backwards like a ladder -- it is quite steep. The area is very busy with tourists, many foreign, and both the bakery and the grocery had more non-Japanese than Japanese when we visited -- I suppose this is to be expected so close to Gion. But in short, the place was wonderful, as was Yasuhiko.

Aya's place was clean and comfortable. There was a nice cafe close by and it was close to transit to get anywhere in Kyoto we wanted to.

Our second time staying here and will come back again. Naoko is very kind, generous, hospitable, and helpful. The apartment is clean and comfortable and in the location that's not overwhelmed by seasonal tourists. We feel very much at home here.

とてもすばらしい宿泊施設です。 閑静な住宅街に位置しているので、静かでゆったりとした時間を過ごすことができました。 ホストのTakaさんはとても親切で、チェックイン時には荷物を2階まで運んでいただいたり、施設について細かく説明していただいたりと、温かいホスピタリティマインドが感じられます。 部屋もかなり広くて、2人で宿泊するには十分すぎるほどです。 部屋が広いだけに場所によっては少し寒かったので、赤外線ヒーターを持って行って正解でした。 アメニティや炊事道具などもすべてそろっており、何不自由なく過ごすことができました。 建物の1階部分に車を駐車することができるのもとても便利でした。 また京都で宿泊する際には利用させていただこうと思っています。

Sanae's home was perfect for our family of 4 - very close to the metro and to Kyoto Station for the bullet train. Easy walking and pleasant and very pretty neighborhood. I don;t know if it was mentioned but this home has two stories and the stairs are very steep! Some folks may have trouble navigating those stairs, but it was fine for us. The two bedrooms were spacious and comfortable and Sanae was really helpful with advice when we needed it. All around, this was a great place to stay and we enjoyed our time there.

Resi Stay Yasaka An is and excellent two bedroom place. It is small but very efficient and very very quiet, especially considering the closeness to so many highly trafficked tourist areas. The place is romantic and exquisitely designed. Perfect to have 2 bedrooms for ourselves, and our 14 year old granddaughter. The bathroom facilities were beautiful, washing machine à plus, too,

Went with my mom and aunt. They ABSOLUTELY loved the open air bath. Place was clean, two toilet and separate bath/shower came handy for 4 people (though I guess this is because of us being all ladies). 2nd floor has two rooms but one is supposed to be living room so you have to go through one room to get to the next. Again there was no problem because we were all ladies and family. This is very typical Japanese house so it's perfectly normal I'd say. Again, it is very typical Japanese house which means thin walls and there is a very sensitive old lady next door. She won't confront you or anything, but you can get some Kyoto style sarcasm (We were asked how much we pay per night! Haha, we should have joked that we were staying for free). But do keep in mind, for the sake of the poor lady, your voice can be heard more loudly than you think, and keep it low during night time. It is a residential area, you'll rarely find fellow tourists in the neighborhood.

I recently stayed at Saito’s place and had a wonderful experience! The check-in process was smooth and easy, and communication with the host was prompt and helpful throughout my stay. The place was thoughtfully furnished, with all the amenities I needed for a comfortable visit. The location was perfect — close to one of the attraction, restaurants, and subway station, yet peaceful enough for a good night’s sleep. Overall, this stay exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend this Airbnb to anyone visiting the area. Thank you again, Saito, for being such a great host. I would definitely love to stay here again in the future!

We had a great time at Taiyo’s apartment. The location is exceptional for the price. We were able to visit many tourist attractions by foot. Taiyo and his mother are lovely hosts. Thank you for being so flexible on our date change and arrival time, we greatly appreciated it.
