The Bathroom is a short stroll of about 20 meters (60’) from the camper, in a building pod attached to the rear of the converted church, with solar powered night lights along the path.

The location & property:
The grounds are a lush & peaceful retreat setting with several nature paths & lookouts on the property. We are on the narrow ridge of a peninsula with views looking out to sea in two separate directions. One offers picturesque views of the tiny islands inside the Pike's Arm bay to the northeast of us & on out to Little Fogo Islands in the distance. The other looks out across the bay (bight) to the North Atlantic, Herring Neck, Pike's Arm, & Ship Island, among others.
Enjoy the large deck adjacent to Bergy where you can relax & take in the spectacular views of both bays, icebergs, & wildlife while grilling on the BBQ and savoring your meals & refreshments.
Green Cove is about 20 minutes from Twillingate which is a top NL tourist destination for boat tours, educational museums, festivals, food & entertainment .
The ferry to Fogo & Change Islands is less than an hour away.
Popular annual festivals include:" Unscripted Festival"....a digital arts festival, "Fish Fun & Folk Festival" a folk, music & crafts festival, & "Art at the Gate" a new arts festival.
Jayshree is a certified Yoga instructor and can be available for private or group yoga sessions.
She also runs a micro bakery on the property where she makes organic sourdough baked goodies and creates fermented foods that are available for purchase when available. We offer only healthy foods, spices, or condiments that are organic or better (wild harvested)
Besides being a designer and craftsman, Eric is also an artist & sculptor who works in miniature paintings & 3-dimensional pieces, many of which are NL inspired. He has a small gallery inside the church that he is happy to open for guests upon request.
He also offers guided nature walks and hikes that can be educational and/or meditative. Check with hosts for details.
About the Area and surroundings:
Our location & area is a nature lovers paradise with inspiring hiking and walking trails, paths & lookouts, with something for any fitness or hiking level. We are blessed with a close proximity to a large number of diverse wildlife & plant habitats. There is a secluded rocky beach just steps away that is great place to explore. We are happy to provide directions to local trails and secret places & lookouts, or ask about our private guided walks or hikes.
We are in a prime location to watch the seasonal migration of icebergs as they drift along the iceberg alley, and often the bergs get swept up in the currents & into our bays where you can watch them from the comfort of the deck or Bergy’s windows. We are just a short walk from the Pikes Arm lookout that has amazing 360 degree view of the coast line & surrounding islands.
You can see two lighthouses from our property…one a light beacon on ship island across the bay and the other is historic bacalhao lighthouse which was manned as recently as some years ago.
We also have our own mini lighthouse in the restored & converted former bell tower.
There is abundant wildlife that is possible to see both from the property & in and around the area…eagles, whales, dolphins, orcas, fox, arctic hare, Canadian or gray jays, grosbeaks, seals, arctic terns, northern gannet, osprey, kittiwakes, loons, cormorants, beavers, otters, mink, lynx, moose, hawk owls, great horned owls, & snowy owls to name a few.
We are also in a fantastic place for sea kayaking, stand up paddling, & sailing in and around the coves & islands & of course around icebergs and we are very close to several easy places to put in.
Be sure and check the Bergy manual for tips for great places to see & explore in and around the area or feel free to ask your host...they love to share their knowledge of the area.
What to see when:
Everything has its season & natural rhythm here in Green Cove & in NL in general…
Spring/Summer arrives late with wildflowers blooming in late July & on through August.
Icebergs typically show up in early spring to late July.
Whales show up in spring until early Jan. when the bays start to freeze up.
They are more plentiful after late July.
Pods of dolphins or locally known as Jumpers, can be seen from mid summer on into early winter.
It takes a long time for the North Atlantic to warm up & conversely to cool back down again which doesn’t happen until late fall, so we often have long Indian summers. Falls can be extraordinary and are many peoples favorite time of the year to be in this area.
Late fall is when some of the more spectacular storms start to move through and are an awesome thing to experience, particularly from the high vantage point up on our bluff.
Storms in Newfoundland can be legendary.
NL is basically one large wild berry patch and the season usually starts in early August & runs well through October. Berry picking is one of our most favorite Newfoundland experiences.
Berries that can be found depending on the season…blueberry, raspberry, partridgeberry or lingonberry, bakeapple or cloudberry, currants, marsh berry, gooseberry, blackberry or crowberry, and cranberry.
Privacy & Hosts availability:
We have designed the glamping spaces to feel private and separate from the church even with it’s close proximity. We are also dedicated to our guests privacy and comfort and are available for as much or little contact as you prefer.
We are on site and can answer any questions, or offer any guidance/ information to help ensure you'll be a happy glamper. Feel free to reach out.
Things to Note:
Bergy is a cozy intimate space with a 6’ ceiling inside & an entrance door that is 5ft’-4-1/2” tall…be sure to watch your head coming and going from the trailer, especially if you are taller than these heights.
The grounds & spaces are not suitable for pets.
Adults only accommodation, we’re in an area with high cliffs and is not suitable for children.
No smoking inside Bergy or anywhere on the property. The non-smoking policy refers to cigarettes, cigars, cannabis, e-cigarettes, burning candles, incense, or essential oil infusers etc. If you smoke inside your accommodation or in any of the building spaces, a minimum cleaning fee of $350 will be charged against your security deposit.
No fires are are allowed on the property for fire safety.
Wifi works best on the deck besides Bergy, or closer to the main house. It can be spotty inside the Bergy, the insulation used inside Bergy filters the wifi signal. The good news is it protects you from wifi and cell phone radiation.
We are a work in progress… the church and the landscaping are in the process of being converted & upgraded into a B&B and glamping location.
We are also a working homestead. You may see some construction and/or recycling materials, & driftwood collection in some confined areas on site.
