Bentfield is a fabulous place to stay in a beautiful location. There was more than enough space for our extended family. We particularly enjoyed the outside (but covered) seating area for a BBQ and of course the hot tub. The house has everything you will need for a great holiday.

We spent 5 nights here at the end of March and start of April 2025. We were really fortunate with the weather and took full advantage of the wonderful location: scaling Slight Side and Scafell on one day, riding to Coniston via the bridleway on another and 'bagging' most of the Coniston fells on another day via Wrynose Pass. We ate in on a couple of nights and also went to the Wainwright's for some pub grub, as well as Stoves for their evening menu. Simon and Belinda's place is very well situated in Great Langdale for all kinds of walks and rides, food and decent pints. The house itself is a lovely place to return to in the evening with easy parking outside for our van and once inside, everything is spotless, well equipped and cosy. We really appreciated all the helpful information on bike routes and walking routes and spent the late evenings by the fire pouring over the Wainwright books planning the next day's adventures. 100% recommended.

We had such a lovely stay! It was well located for getting out for local walks and was wonderful to come back to at the end of the day (the hot tub and sauna were wonderful after a day hiking!). The place had everything we needed and Jane and Steve were really helpful - thank you!

We loved this place! Its peaceful with good local walks, a pub just down the road. Tea and coffee and a loaf of bread were provided which was very welome. We'd brought our 2 dogs along, and Soraya had thoughfully left some dog treats out too. Just outside there was a hot tub, which was a real bonus, and a great way to relax after a day out walking.

Beautiful cottage. Was perfect for us and the dogs. Fully enclosed fenced garden with a gate down to a quiet riverside walk. The hottub was huge and warm ready for our arrival. Everything we needed was available in the kitchen. We only stayed for 1 night so cannot comment on the local area as we did not do much exploring but we noticed a spar walking distance just down the road and a few cafes.

Beautiful home, very spacious and plenty of amenities. felt right at home! perfect for toddlers too. Ian was great, very helpful and easily contactable.

We had a really nice stay. The cottage was lovely and well kept with great shower facilities and little touches including a welcome pack of local produce. Sharon came to clean the hot tub each morning with the filter being changed between guests, bbq area (with large disposable BBQ to use, birds singing in a sheltered garden. Bathroom and hot tub towels provided, washing machine and tumble dryer easy to use. The beds were comfy and blackout blinds in all rooms. Beautiful surroundings; able to walk 30 minutes to an ice cream farm with play area or drive 5 minutes to Lowther castle

We had an absolutely lovely time staying at High Swinside. Diana was an amazing host and went out of her way to make us all feel comfortable. I would highly recommend any of her cottages.

Lovely little house. Received advice on the way in that the house was ready and we could check in early without asking if we could. Just a 30 min drive to Scafell for the corridor and popular routes up. Great pizza place nearby and curry delivery spot on.

we had a fantastic 4 days in the cottage, everything was as described, what a lovely quiet place with fantastic views. would definitely recommend and would love to stop again.

Most enjoyable few days in this warm, cosy cottage. Lovely walks for the dogs and so many little birds! Linda very friendly and able to make recommendations for places to eat in area beyond Leadhills. Many thanks.

The cottage was lovely inside and out. Great and peaceful location. Close to everything you need. Inside is a very cosy, clean and well furnished place. All small details made our stay even better. The host was great, left a lot of information about everything (what to visit, best restaurants, pubs shops and cafes, how to recycle etc.). Moffat is a beautiful place, locals are lovely and most of the places are extremely dog-friendly. Our dog Vicky, which is normally quite anxious with new places and people, relaxed right away at the cottage and was super happy to get a treat or two from the lovely people around. Absolutely worth it!!

If you value peace, quiet, beautiful surroundings, do not hesitate to visit this place. I definitely recommend it, the house is equipped with everything you need, spotlessly clean, drinking coffee in the garden you can admire the walking deer, you really don't need anything more to relax .

Beautiful little cottage, spotlessly clean with everything we needed. The surrounding area was so peaceful with stunning views. The garden was fabulous , a place where we could relax after lots of walking and the perfect place for our puppy to explore.The location was excellent for visiting the lakes. Our hosts were so friendly and helpful ,made us feel extremely welcome . Would definitely stay here again!!

Great cottage, beautifully decorated in a really sweet village

A wonderful stay and an excellent host. Anthony was friendly, welcoming and proactive. His instructions were extremely helpful and we were pleased to find that the property was exactly as described and had all of the contents listed plus more. We felt right at home and relaxed for the duration. We would thoroughly recommend Anthony's house as a superb location to explore the lake district.

The fact that I’m writing this review is a testament to how lovely Joan is and how much I want to support her business. It is a tragedy that our livelihoods now rely on other people’s personal opinions on the internet. However, Joan was lovely and I wish her all the best possible luck. We had a great night.

The Fairy Cottage was absolutely perfect!! Hugh met us at the door and showed us around the place, explaining how things worked. It was so neat and clean but very well decorated. Felt immediately comfortable! Speaking of comfortable, the bed was a dream!! Wish we could have spent more time there but next time we will!!

Lovely stay in a comfy and cosy house. Location was perfect for us visiting family and with it being pet friendly meant we could bring our dog too! Thank you so much 😊

For what our group wanted it was perfect not a bad word to say about the place, perfect or group weekend away in the country side just what a place!
