Our converted farmhouse is a special place to stay.
While you are here you can help pick olives or grapes and see how olive oil and wine are made. (October-November)
We try to be eco-friendly- no weedkiller, no insecticides, we recycle and re-use as much as possible, we grow much of our own food, keep bees and encourage bee and bird friendly plants and flowers. We love the land and hope to share it with people from far and wide.
The farmhouse sleeps 2 adults or a family with two children. It is one space living- galley kitchen, eating area, sleeping area and bathroom.
The farmhouse offers peace and spectacular views and yet is only 10 mins walk from the village where there are shops and restaurants.
Roseto is an idyllic village in the hills.(650mt a.s.l) It is completely off the beaten track, almost in the middle of nowhere but this is what makes it so special. (We offer transfer from Rome by car- contact us for details)
It is away from the madding crowd, far from typically touristy areas, a place to relax, see Italy at its purest and experience real Italian people and their mountain village lifestyle. You will meet some foreigners but most of them are people who emmigrated to America, Canada, Germany and Great Britain many years ago and who come back each summer to see their relatives.
The best time to come is July and August (WHEN THE SWIMMING POOL IS OPEN) but anytime of the year is wonderful (weather permitting- sometimes we can't get there because of the snow!))
This converted farmhouse has one large room with a galley kitchen, a living area with wood stove, a sleeping area at the far end and a spacious bathroom.
The beds are big and comfortable. 1 king size bed n 2 single beds. All sheets and towels are supplied.
Roseto is a small, pretty village in the hills.(650asl)
There are about 1000 residents. It has a main Piazza, a few cafés, restaurants and shops and lots of little winding streets full of cute and curious things to see. In summer there is a wonderful swimming pool (made on the premises of an ancient water mill) where you can relax all day long, and in the evenings the village provides a variety of entertainment- concerts, dances, markets and religious celebrations.
There is an outdoor theatre where they hold all sorts of concerts (classical-pop-theatrical -variety) in July and August. The outdoor theatre area is in front of the main restaurant/pizzeria so while you eat you can enjoy live entertainment. But if you simply want peace and quiet there is tons of that too. There are lovely walks in the countryside or if you like people watching, sit at a cafe with a cold drink and while away the hours.
If you feel like sight seeing, there are many historic towns and villages near Roseto. (Lucera, Benevento, Troia, Faeto, Matera) and other places further away such as Alberobello, Lecce, Bari and the Tremiti islands.
If you want a peaceful but interesting holiday destination then Roseto is the place. It is still very much an authentic Italian hillside village and yet it has some very enviable attractions (attractive, well looked after village, fresh air, friendly village folk, the pool, good food and interesting walks).
There are four grocer shops, a Chemist, a Newsagents, and a open market every Saturday. There are also trucks that come selling fresh fruit, veg, fish and bread. There is a doctor, a dentist and medical staff available for any emergencies.
Roseto Valfortore is a tiny village and yet there's always something going on.
