Our favourite eating places nearby are Swinside Inn and the Ivy Restaurant in Braithwaite. Keswick is a mere 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk for eating out, shopping and outdoor sports.

Braeside is a spacious property. All the rooms are large and light. Plenty of space for getting together and relaxing. Most of the rooms have lovely views of the Lakeland fells. The sheltered enclosed garden at the front of the property is perfect for dining al fresco in the summer. The warm and comfortable accommodation sleeps up to four guests (plus a cot) and was recently extensively refurbished. Changeover days are typically Monday and Friday. One or two well-behaved dogs (restricted to downstairs and not allowed on the furniture) are welcome. Smoking is not permitted in the cottage. 10% discount for full week bookings.

Otterbield is a wonderful top floor apartment in the newly renovated Derwent House in Portinscale. Its many original features offer a unique place to stay for two people, with outstanding views of Derwentwater. it utilises the roof space so please note that some areas of the apartment have restricted headroom. It has a double bedroom with spectacular views, the bathroom has bath with shower over and fantastic living space with kitchen, living area and bespoke breakfast bar.
