Manor House Cottage is located in the small hamlet of Holme-On-Swale 7 miles from the market town of Thirsk which is known for its connection to James Herriott and within easy reach of North Yorkshires National Parks. Set within the grounds of the Manor House, It is a quirky upside down cottage with a well appointed modern kitchen, two bedrooms and bathroom on the ground floor with sitting room upstairs, private garden with table and chairs. There are no other holiday cottages in the grounds.

Tucked into a quiet location with views overlooking the Church of St. Margaret's, is this ideally placed one-bedroomed quirky mill conversion within a 5-minute walk of York city centre. Additionally, nearby on Walmgate and Fossgate are a variance of eateries, shops and bars. The interior has an industrial yet cosy feel and comprises a ground floor bedroom with a king-sized bed, a private courtyard and shower room; to the first floor is the living areas with dining space and church views.

The property is in a peaceful setting but only two minutes walk away from the village pub and post office/general store. Our cottage was completely renovated in 2021 and is in a great location for walkers, cyclists, and explorers. Off the main street in the small historic village of Linton-on-Ouse which lies close to the national trust property of Beningborugh Hall and within 30 mins drive of York, Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon. The area provides open countryside which is popular with cyclists and walkers. “Fig Tree Cottage” is a recently completed conversion project finished to a high modern standard providing quality accommodation. There are a couple of pubs and the Lock House Pub serves food and takeaways.

There is a shop/Post Office, and walking routes right outside the door. The village pub, The Highwayman, serves good pub grub.

With easy access to York by car, bus, cycle track or (in the summer months) riverbus, you can explore the city’s history or the beauty of the surrounding countryside. This one-bedroomed cottage is well-equipped and private, with the owners next door for information or advice on your visit.
