Great spot for our family of six. Plenty of space for the kids and dogs to roam. After hiking the hot tub was a big hit. Easy access to SNP and caverns. River access lot was great for fishing but there was an experience with a neighbor. Be mindful of the white posts that are near the sign on the river lot for fox creek lodge. The posts don’t go all the way to the water but those posts denote separate property although there is no sign saying so. When my son was fishing three feet inside that on the rocks in the water, the very vocal neighbor came down to the road and threatened to call the cops on us and yelled pretty aggressively as he continued to walk towards us. It seemed like a strange escalation on his part when we immediately got my son on the other side of the post as soon as he yelled that it was private property. Just a note of caution, as we didn’t go down to the river after that because the guy left us feeling a little unsettled. No fault on this Airbnb at all.

We have used the same cabin for years and totally enjoy our stay every time. Two things I wanted to mention. The morning of our last day I noticed some water on the floor around the toilet. We wiped it up and didn’t notice any more before we left a short time later. The other thing is I grabbed a knife one morning to make sandwiches with. We needed to buy some jelly on the way to go fishing and make sandwiches when we got there. I accidentally left the knife in the plastic bag that ended coming home with me. The chalet was a perfect home base for our stay in the valley over a birthday weekend. Derek gave us clear instructions ahead of time, we had no trouble getting in. We were able to just crash and watch TV the first night in front of the electric fireplace. Second night we hit the hot tub which we needed after a long hike. We found good restaurants in Front Royal and Luray (Osteria Maria, Chop House Bistro) and for coffee in the morning Broad Porch. Check out was also easy, we just needed to strip the beds and take out the trash. And of course we loved being able to bring our doggo. My fiancee had previously been hosted by Derek and we would definitely stay here again.

Rich & Brittany have a lovely tiny house in a beautiful area! Their place is cozy, clean and has all the creature comforts, plus a nice big hot tub on a nearly wrap around deck and a big yard with a fire pit, with plenty of firewood, courtesy of R & B. If you're wanting to drive up a long and winding road in the mountains of West Virginia, to a cozy tiny house, that's "just right"? Then, Goldilocks will be much pleased! The only part of the stay that didn't get 5 stars was that it wasn't quite as secluded as I'd hoped for. There are a number of homes on the road to the cabin, and a thin line of trees breaks the view. Admittedly unless you're looking for the other houses you don't notice them, so I got past that quickly enough. That said, the cabin was perfect, clean, cozy and everything worked as stated. Having grown up in the country, but living in a city now, I felt the stress melt away as soon as I stepped into the massive yard where my son and I spent a lot of time playing soccer and other sports. My son and wife really enjoyed the hot tub. The location is 15 minutes away from Luray which meant that the stars were amazing for the brief break in the clouds we got, but that it was close enough to get groceries and take out as needed. Plus it's about 20 minutes away from Front Royal so there are places to go and enjoy like Skyline or Luray Caverns. Jackie was a great and responsive host!

Connie's Rock Cottage was amazing! much thought was put into this cottage. Firewood and fire starter for the wood stove on chilly nights, robes we used for getting to and from the private hot tub just steps outside the back door,map of entire 550 acres of land including the wonderful paved walkway which meanders through the property. This was the mosr exceptionally prepared kitchen we have seen in out travels. Tons of utensils, a full set of potsand pans, dish towels, trivets, cutting boards and cooking sheets! We love to cook together when we travel and this kitchen was big enough for 2! We got some amazing pictures all over the farm. The lack of light pollution allowed us to enjoy the stars and Pink Full Moon in all their glory! We will be back to enjoy this cottage again!

This was an awesome stay! The one thing I’d note is to be aware that when you book it’s in a wooded area. We had a run in with a harmless snake that got in the house, but were able to take care of it pretty quickly. There were also some hornets that got in the house. Just be aware that you’re in nature. I recently stayed at a cabin rental near the Shenandoah River, and I can't recommend it highly enough! The cabin was exceptionally clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was absolutely beautiful, surrounded by nature and providing a spacious yard for outdoor activities. Inside, the cabin was just as spacious and inviting. After a long day of hiking, exploring, and fishing, we thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. It was the perfect way to unwind! The owners were incredibly responsive and kind. The gentleman went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction, with thoughtful gestures that made our stay even more special. Overall, I loved my experience and will definitely be visiting again. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway, this is the place!

Our family had the best stay at Amy’s place! It was clean, well stocked and the beds were super comfortable! The fire pit out back was so nice to relax after a day of exploring and wine tasting. We would definitely stay here again!

I’ve been in some more rustic conditions with Airbnb lately, but this house was clean and in good condition overall. It was right by the water and just perfect for what we needed.

Great home. Very private and plenty of space. Walking distance (via a fire road) to Shenandoah National Park and the Appalachian Trail. Plenty of nice touches to keep adults and kids feeling at home. Excellent value for the price.

My family of 4 plus our 2 fur babies had the best time at Julie’s home. The house is beautiful and unique with all the original remnants of wood and brick. It’s clean and very well maintained. The kitchen is well equipped with all the necessities. The pictures don’t do this house justice, honestly. The property is very private. We hardly saw any neighbors. We enjoyed everything the house had to offer, hot tub, couches outside, bathrobes, etc. we appreciated the tea, chocolate, wine and flowers left for us, too. Such a pleasant surprise, really! There are plenty of things to do around in the area. We had a great time. Thank you, Julie, for allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home with our entire family.

Mary Scott and Mark's cottage was a wonderful little getaway. The cottage was quaint and cozy. Check-in instructions were very clear and our hosts were very responsive. It was a great location with beautiful surroundings and had many things to do within a 20-25 min radius. Downtown Charlottesville and Monticello were close by and were great day activities. We also really enjoyed the Glass House Winery which was about 5 min away. Beautiful home, highly recommend!

Very much enjoyed a short but sweet stay in this cabin! Appreciated the little touches including both fireplaces being set up for use upon arrival & maps of the area being laid out on the kitchen island. This quiet, pet-friendly Airbnb was a great escape for the weekend. Thank you for having us 🙂

Great place!! We really enjoyed our stay. Mary provided everything we needed...even extras. We brought some steak to grill and Mary provided a charcoal grill with charcoal so we could cook out. Sh also provided some great local hiking options. We'll definitely be back when in Charlottesville!! Thank you Mary!!

We loved using the pool and the patio/grill area. The view and the landscaping are beautiful. The owner was helpful and responsive; she supplied firewood and charcoal. Plenty of dining space both indoors and out. Good A/C.

Nice and cozy finished studio apartment above a garage. Nice amenities, clean place and quiet location. Stayed one night this time; stayed several nights a year ago. Would recommend this place for anyone needing a short stay in thr area.

Fantastic stay overall. The host was very responsive, friendly and accommodating. We made an oversight during our booking in that we didn't notify in advance that we were bringing a pet, but once we explained the issue and discussed it with the host, she was very accommodating and allowed us to pay the pet deposit and stay. She has two small puppers who tagged along with us on several walks around the property (highly recommend walking up Bruce's Mountain for a spectacular view!). Would happily return for another stay in the future.

Comfortable beds, super clean hot tub and such a nice place to spend spring break. Excellent communication and very pleasant hosts. Will definitely keep this place in mind for future trips.

Our family of four spent two nights at Callie's Cottage. We had a great time enjoying the trails, fishing the pond, and watching the horses. Our kids had a lot of fun playing in the treehouse. The house was cozy, clean and well appointed.

We had such a peaceful stay! The surroundings are beautiful and the guest house (and especially the bed) is super comfortable! The farm is amazing and Whittington and his family are gracious hosts—they even shared a nice fire with us outside one night!

Very private location. The house was a nice cabin with spectacular views and comfortable furnishings. Very spotty Verizon cell service, but wifi worked very well for calling and internet. Would recommend for a private get-away.

I have absolutely no reservations recommending Angelique’s Airbnb. We had a terrific two months stay here, Angelique is very responsive, property is as described. It has comfortable beds and living room and even walkable to the closest shopping area. Highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a place in Charlottesville
