We had a wonderful stay at John's place. He communicated thoroughly with us and was very kind and responsive. The house was larger than we expected and very cozy. Everything was clean and well organized. The location of the house is great, the shops are walkable, the area is safe, and the house has a beautiful view of the sea. I would definitely stay again and would recommend to families. We had three adults, my 6 year old son and my infant daughter with us and it was the perfect size.

Cutest wee cosy cottage on the Kintyre coast

We loved our short stay in the wee cottage. It was very cozy, clean, and homey. We would happily return for another stay, and highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet rural accommodation. Admittedly there isn’t much in the immediate vicinity for food or activities, but plenty to do just a short drive away. Diane was excellent recommending some places to visit and eat. If this catches your eye - book it!

Entire Flat- Closest to the Three Distillery Path

Wir waren für 2 Nächte hier. Als wir die Wohnung betraten, haben wir uns sofort sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Ausstattung ist sehr gut und es war blitzeblank sauber. Jackie ist unglaublich nett und sehr zuvorkommend, reagiert schnell auf Fragen. Wir können die Unterkunft auf jeden Fall mit sehr gutem Gewissen weiterempfehlen. Vielen Dank für den tollen Aufenthalt.

You can’t find a better spot to stay. You really feel like home with magnificent view from the house. Anne has been very helpful in all our requests and questions. You must stay here if you’re coming to Islay!

The Old Byre, An Gleann

We loved our stay at The Old Byre and left wishing we could have stayed for much longer. We enjoyed chatting with Jane and Iain, who were very friendly and welcoming, and their lovely cottage is homely, comfortable and full of thoughtful touches. There was a lovely bowl of fresh fruit, some samples of Jane’s delicious tablet, fresh eggs from their chickens, filter coffee for the machine, as well as tea bags and instant coffee, and milk in the fridge. There were clear instructions, which were particularly helpful for the heating and hot water. The log burner was terrific and well supplied with logs and kindling. The kitchen appliances were high-quality and easy to use. The whole place was spotlessly clean with a comfortable bed and an over the bath shower. We loved watching the chickens and guinea fowl roaming around the garden. We were very sad to leave and will definitely be back soon not least to dip into the excellent selection of books!

Gartartan Port Ellen Modern home with sea views

We had a wonderful couple of days staying at Gartartan. It was the perfect location, being only an approximate 20 minute walk from Port Ellen, which also makes it accessible if you fancy visiting the south coast distilleries such as Ardbeg, Lagvulin, Laphoraig, Port Ellen, Islay Rum and the upcoming Portintruan. The house is beautifully decorated with lovely little nods to the island and was very clean and tidy. Our hosts were also great at answering any questions we had both before and during the stay. This will definitely be my top choice for accommodation when coming back to the island in the future!

Beautiful and spotless accommodation in the most perfect location just outside Port Ellen. Well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Karen was extremely responsive and helpful. Hot tub and outside space was a lovely bonus. We enjoyed every minute and would 100% rebook if back in Islay. Thanks again!

Linda’s flat is lovely and bright and spacious with everything you might need for a holiday stay. Lovely traditional period features give it lots of character and make it feel just like home and the beautiful local artworks hanging on the walls in each room make it quite unique. Not forgetting to mention that the views of Campbeltown Loch across to Davaar Island really are stunning and even the garden view from the other direction is lovely. There’s plenty of on street parking and a bright clean access close up to the flat which is made homely with plants and scents. Plus it’s only a short walk across the esplanade to the town centre. A peaceful and picturesque spot! I wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend to others.

TL;DR - This is the best Airbnb I’ve ever stayed in. Linda and Colin took the time to meet and chat with us. They gave us recommendations and had a fire going so the cottage was warm and cozy when we arrived. The cottage was very comfortable, the views immaculate, and had everything we needed for an ideal stay. It is centrally located on Islay and you can get anywhere on island in under 25 min. You’re right on the edge of Bowmore (the town), Co-op is just down the street, and several restaurants less than 5 min away (including the Bowmore Distillery). I cannot recommend it enough. Thank you, Linda and Colin!

What a perfect place. Just what we needed. the house is gorgeous and spacious with breathtaking views. Its so well equipped, you just need to bring yourself really. We had a wonderful christmas and no doubt we will be back. The only minor thing was, the heating wasnt set on for our arrival, which should have been done. Instead, we were sat in freezing cold house the first evening. Overal, one of the best places we stayed so far.

Beautiful cottage, very tastefully decorated and everything you need for a short holiday. The garden is very pretty and the views out onto the harbour are lovely. Not many food / drink options nearby and the only grocery shop is a small coop, so take plenty of supplies! One small niggle would be that even though there are 3 tvs, none of them are smart so don’t have Netflix or apps.

we had fantastic time at Kintour School House loved the place from top to bottom the house and gardens were better than we could have imagined the open country side with all of the farm and wild animals around us all in all a great place and would thoroughly recommend the property peter April 27 2025

had a great stay. I'm over on Islay every 6 months and have done this for the past 12 years and this has to be the best accommodation I've stayed in. I've stayed in the Machrie, harbour inn and various other airbnb. but this property is head and shoulders above the rest.

Four golfers stayed here, one of us brought a blow up bed and stayed in living room. Plenty space and only 10’ drive to the courses. Central location for bars and restaurants. Excellent all round
