Wonderful experience staying at Villa Mitoreya. It's not your usual Airbnb, it's a lot more. The house is amazingly built with beautiful views and Tsuyoshi was an excellent host. He was present to welcome us, he went out of his way to drive us to a nearby restaurant so we didn't have to worry about parking and having a drink. His breakfast were delicious with many small details. It was like having a personal chef at home. We really enjoyed the peaceful environment and watching the local train pass in front of the house. It was like being in a Ghibli movie.

We loved our stay there! We were two people so the appartement was big and very nice, also with the cute cat decoration everywhere. the big bathtub was awesome, and the option to use the sauna was cool (but we didn't use it). that we had easy access to a cat room was an amazing surprise, very cool to calm down in the evening and cuddle the cats! the staff was super nice too. there were some drink and food options available so that was convenient. Train station was not far by foot, so it was a great place for a trip to Takayama and the surrounding area. but if you want to visit the Shirakawa-go villages and go by train/bus, it's better to stay in Takayama, cause all the busses start there (so you would have to drive from Hida to Takayama first always). but that's still possible, just takes longer. but we would recommend this appartement cause it's special and supports the cat shelter, so very cool concept!!

It's an amazing place for longer stays. Our group of 6 (male, 20s) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Compared to other places, what made it stand out to us were the living room, large bathroom and multiple toilets, and combination washer-dryer. Communication during our stay was also excellent and a problem with the microwave was resolved quickly. While the location is great for visiting nearby attractions like Kenrokuen and as a base for driving out of the city, there are better options if you plan to take the train out multiple times. Parking is out front and fit our Toyota Alphard. Our group didn't have any significant complaints.

Very friendly host! Super responsive and gave local recommendations. The stay is also quite good - the living room is really cute. Only issue was the bathroom door downstairs is a little broken because the door knob wasn’t functioning and you could lock ourselves out. But Mickey was super helpful and we got it resolved.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is beautiful and looks exactly like the photos. There is a beautiful park directly behind the house, and it snowed while we were there, which was spectacular. Takayama is a relatively small town, so almost everything is walkable from the house. Iori manages several properties in the town and does a great job. I suspect that any property managed by Iori would be a great choice.

Takayama is a relatively small town, so almost everything is walkable from the house. Iori manages several properties in the town and does a great job. I suspect that any property managed by Iori would be a great choice.

Absolutely stunning home! Very traditional and beautifully decorated, spotless clean and lovely design. Very comfortable traditional Japanese beds and pillows (floor mats), we fell in love and want this type of beds in our home now! Kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need! We had a welcome pack left for us- water, rice, Japanese tea and coffee with all the instructions on how to brew it Japanese way. Parking is outside the house. Kohei was very responsive and helpful- gave us loads of recommendations on where to eat and what to visit, so huge help! We were lucky and our stay was during Furakawa festival which was the highlight of our stay in Hida. Absolutely amazing and beautiful and traditional festival which was right outside our house. Location is absolutely amazing with the river nearby, loads of temples around, sakura blossoms too! Cute little local restaurants and cafes. People are very friendly- we are in love!
