Great mountain house! House was clean and had everything we needed. The host sent us local recommendations and checkin/out was easy!

3 Nights was not enough for our 7 member family. We cooked, grilled, soaked in the hot and best of all had a delightful tour of Barbara's and Mike's Sheep Farm, all fit in around wedding events in Rixeyville. If life wouldn't have been in the way, 2 more days enjoying the massive deck and game room downstairs would have been perfection.

We really enjoyed our stay! The location is perfect! The communication between us and the host was phenomenal! The house was perfect for everything we needed! The hot tub was a family favorite!

Susan’s farm house was perfect for enjoying a relaxing getaway with plenty of space for multiple families and kids. All of the spices are very large and honestly it’s better in person than in the pictures. We would recommend it to anyone and return again! The kitchen was nicely stocked with everything you could need. And it was great being right on the winery.

Great place for a larger group!

We needed a place to hold us comfortably for an anniversary trip, and Jeff’s place sure delivered! He was quit to communicate with us about questions after booking and stayed in touch up to checking in to be sure we were on the same page. We even had a minor issue on a Friday evening and he was very quick to communicate so that our trip could stay on track! Home was clean and had everything we needed to make our weekend trip no stress. Thanks Jeff and team!

My family had a wonderful stay! The location was so peaceful - we could hear the river running nearby. It was an easy drive the Shenandoah National Park. We would definitely recommend!

This home is so charming, dripping in history, tastefully decorated and equipped with everything you need. It feels so off the beaten path but Charlottesville is within easy reach. You feel a real sense of peacefulness and calm here, and Virginia is a very responsive host.

Absolutely lovely stay! The location was serene and peaceful—ideal for a relaxing family getaway. We loved having fishing spots and national lakes so close by, making it easy to explore the outdoors and enjoy nature. The home itself was super comfortable, newly renovated, and well-equipped for everything we needed. Communication with the host was excellent—friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would love to return!

House was really great! Very spacious kitchen area with everything you could possibly need! Spacious backyard with a fire pit was perfect for the kids to run around and hang out. Overall the house was clean and neat, would definitely recommend!

We really enjoyed this house with its incredible view of the pond and lovely garden. Lots of space both inside and out. The location felt like it was way out in the country, but it was minutes from town and only 30 minutes from restaurants in Charlottesville. We also like how close it was to Massanutten. Great hosts.

It felt like home! This cute little rancher has so much character and charm. The location and views only bring more peace to its tranquility. Lots to do or nothing at all, it is entirely up to the guest. Tracy provides suggestions from tourists attractions to local dives. Think you forgot something and need it, no worries! As the crow flies has it all. A fully stocked kitchen with coffee maker, kitchen mixer, and china if you like. Tracey’s attention to detail is highly evident as she welcomes you into a home and provides you with a place that is as close to home as it could get. Thanks so much for the hospitality! We will most definitely be booking another stay at As the Crow Flies!

Our family rented Joseph's Place for a weekend when we were in the area for a wedding at Early Mountain Vineyard Madison Virginia. I can not say enough good things about the house or the host. The house is located in a very quiet neighborhood and has a great layout for sharing meals and socializing. It was an easy 15 to 20 minute drive to the vineyard. The beds and all of the furniture in the house are really comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and a perfect gathering place. Joe provided us with information concerning walking trails in the neighborhood ,as well as, great hiking trails within a short drive. He told us about restaurants in the area which we would have tried had we stayed longer. We ate our meals at the house. Downtown Charlottesville is an easy maybe 20 mile drive from the house. Joe is a very responsive host. This is a fabulous place to stay. There is parking for 4 cars in the driveway. We did not have one complaint about our stay. It was perfect.

Our stay here was part of our honeymoon tour, and we must highlight that Ron and Teresa made us feel at home, always attentive and willing to help or find solutions at any time. They were truly exceptional. Thanks to them, we also hiked in Shenandoah Park and went to dinner at Skyland, which is a highly recommended spot for sunset. The house is easily accessible and highly recommended. Everything is very clean, tidy, and exceptionally comfortable, allowing you to relax after a day of hiking. In our case, there were only two of us, but the house has many bedrooms with enough space to feel very comfortable, as well as a TV that allows you to watch a movie or series in peace. There is also a bulletin board with directions for hiking. On the other hand, although we didn't have pets, there's also a space for them. If anyone wants to cook, the kitchen is impressive and luxurious. You can make a morning coffee and enjoy it on the terrace. We're very grateful for everything 🫶

I don’t usually do reviews, but I had the privilege of staying here with my family during one of the most difficult weekends of my life. Despite experiencing a personal loss, this beautiful home gave us the space to come together with loved ones we don’t often get to see. The campfire area was cozy and inviting, and we took a peaceful walk along the riverbed that helped bring some calm to the weekend. We hope to enjoy this property again in the future. The neighbors were kind, and the house itself was lovely. What began as a somber stay turned into a weekend of meaningful connection and lasting memories, thanks to this incredible space!

Loved the location and the stay. Great communication. Just keep in mind they designed this for people who travel for pleasure. If you are a working contractor with a larger vehicle then you will have to park in a spot next door. Not a huge deal, just prepare for a long walk.

This cabin is a hidden gem in the woods near Shenandoah—peaceful, stunning, and surrounded by nature. If you’re looking for a quiet, beautiful escape with breathtaking views, this is the place. Photos don’t do it justice. One of the most serene stays I’ve ever had.

The location was great and the house was perfect accommodations for our quick tubing/skiing vaction. Definitely would book again.

Very nice place to stay

My fiancé and I came here to have easy access to Shenandoah National Park. We got that and more! We had a lovely stay with Julie! The accommodations were excellent! Everything matched the pictures in the listing and it was very comfy and cozy. We liked all the little touches that she added to make our stay more inviting and her communication went above and beyond. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be looking to come here!
