LEARN MOSAIC IN ATHENS A four (4) hours course in the center of Athens, right above the Ancient cemetery of Keramicos and very close to the Acropolis and the historical center of Athens, we teach people how to create their own mosaic based on Ancient Greek, Roman and modern designs. Using the direct method our participients will be able to create their mosaic and take it to their home in four hours. Before our walk, we meet the donkeys and find out about their nature and special needs and features. You will learn how to approach, groom, feed, put on the halter and handle a donkey. To start our trip we choose the appropriate donkey for each hiker. The distance we shall cover is about 3-6 kilometers depending on your courage and includes a break for water and beverages. The path we take is full of old olive trees and vineyards. During our trekking you will learn how to read and understand the donkey's behavior and how to lead and negotiate with your donkey. Walking by the side of the most patient and calm animal is a unique experience that you will remember forever. When we arrive back to the stable, you can participate in feeding the donkeys, as well as the chickens and the ducks. Together we will discover the memorable ATHENIAN RIVIERA, which starts from the city center and ends at Sounio Peninsula, where the temple of the God of the Sea is located. The total route is around 140km (around 87 mi) by the coastline. For you to get to know the suburbs of Athens and enjoy the views, cliffs, lakes, sea, sun, FOOD, beaches with emerald waters. The walk starts by swimming to an amazing well hidden waterfall. Its power and greatness will impress you. Then we will follow the river's bed splashing into crystal clear waters and natural pools having fun inside a beautiful natural landscape. Our gorge is a unique ecosystem and you will have the chance to observe several amphibious animals such as frogs , colourfulll dragonflies , sweet water turtles and if we are lucky spot some vultures flying above us ! The middle part of the route is isolated from the crowds and suitable for everyone without demanding parts. Later on we will stop for a snack under some huge plane trees having time to swim around! Before we finish our tour we will walk through some beautiful gardens with tropical vegetation and a typical Cretan olive grove ! Last but not least if you wish to have lunch follow me on a shady Greek taverna for some Greek tapas and a cold beer. We will begin with an introduction to organic olive farming , focusing on cultivation methods which result in healthy trees and top quality olive oil. You will learn to identify some of the varieties of olive tree, and will acquire basic (or more advanced if you are interested) knowledge of growing olives. We will give you a briefing on the exciting, ongoing research on the health giving properties of excellent olive oil and you will learn about the role of oleocanthal in promoting good health. We will show you round the farm and then if you wish you can participate in watering, pruning, repairing stone terraces, mending olive nets or picking olives (the harvest is from October onwards). Finally you will enjoy a well deserved tasting session, with our own delicious olive oil and different accompaniments.
