Port Carlisle has a faded splendour - built on the site of a fishing village, for a brief time it was a major port serving Carlisle, with its own canal & later a railway; in the 1850s the Firth silted up so ships could no longer get in. Birdwatchers, walkers, fans of history, dogs will love it!

Our charming shepherds' huts sit in the old orchard of our farm in the village of Bowness on Solway, Cumbria. The site is named 'The Garrison' as it sits on the remains of the former Roman fort of Maia, a world heritage site at the end of Hadrian's Wall.
