Cervantes is great for fast bites that don't hurt your wallet. They even have fresh beer on tap ("chope") and other drinks.
It is a must if you want to experience the colorful lifestyle of locals.
At night the place tends to get loud, so come early and leave before the dusk.

At night the place tends to get loud, so come early and leave before the dusk.
One of my favorite places in Rio!
Incredible selection of cachaças (Sug, Nega Fulô, Velho Bento, Salinas, Seleta, Germana, Magnifica, Boazinha) and don't forget to eat either some bits (bolinha de queijo, bolinha de carne, bolinho de mandioca com queijo, caldinho de feijão incrementado) or a main dish (feijoada).
All is amazing!

Incredible selection of cachaças (Sug, Nega Fulô, Velho Bento, Salinas, Seleta, Germana, Magnifica, Boazinha) and don't forget to eat either some bits (bolinha de queijo, bolinha de carne, bolinho de mandioca com queijo, caldinho de feijão incrementado) or a main dish (feijoada).
All is amazing!
A chain of bars, Belmonte in Leblon and Jardim Botânico are the best of the bunch. Great food (nibble or have a full meal), proper "chopes" (beer on tap) and caipirinhas. The Leblon one can get quite crowded in the evenings (especially weekends).
Must eat: Empada and Picadinho
