書院の東狭屋の間の天井には様々な形の書物が散らされているのですが、その中に一匹だけ猫が描かれた巻物があります。睨みをきかせているように見えるこの猫は、どこから見ても目が合うことから八方睨みの猫と呼ばれています。ぜひ探してみてください。 Various forms of books are scattered on the ceiling between the Toei shops in the Shogakuin, but there are scrolls with only one cat drawn in it. You might be able to find a cat which calls eyes of everywhere because you could see the eyes from anywhere. You might find interesting to see the cat of the eyes. JR・近鉄京都駅より京都駅　市バス『京都駅前』より9番,28番,75番（西賀茂車庫行など）に乗車、『西本願寺前』で下車。阪急電車利用の場合河原町駅　市バス『四条河原町』より207番に乗車、『島原口』で下車。タクシー利用の場合行き先は「西本願寺」とご指示ください。 JR京都駅からは数分、阪急大宮駅、京阪七条駅からは約10分です。 The Honganji temples are located a 10-15 minute walk north of Kyoto Station.

境内には桃山文化を代表する建造物や庭園が数多く残されており、平成6年（1994年）に国の史跡に指定され、同年12月にユネスコの文化遺産に「古都京都の文化財」として登録されています。西本願寺（にしほんがんじ）は、京都市下京区にある仏教寺院。浄土真宗本願寺派の本山 Nishi Honganji (西本願寺) and Higashi Honganji (東本願寺) are two large temples in the center of Kyoto. As headquarters of the two factions of the Jodo-Shin Sect (True Pure Land Sect), one of Japan's largest Buddhist sects, they are a good place to experience contemporary Japanese Buddhism.
