Beautiful beach in Mendocino where Big River meets the ocean. Kayaking, paddle boarding and surfing, as well as bird watching and walking or biking along the old logging road that parallels the river.

Dog and kid-friendly. The riverside is calm and smooth. Lots of seal and river otter sitings. Great for picnics. Walk over to the ocean side for some waves and driftwood collecting. Rent a kayak and travel upstream for a relaxing activity. Walkable access to town via steps. One of our favorite beaches!

Kayak or paddle up the beautiful Big river watershed. You will see seals and otters playing in the water, osprey catching fish, bald eagles nesting in the trees, and if you're lucky bears and cubs have been spotted walking the river bank. If kayaking isn't your thing. You can hike, bike, or ride a horse along the river on a level old logging road now part of the nature preserve.

Awesome safe beach with amazing views, a good hike up the estuary. great biking, paddle boarding, canoeing, surfing. This beach has it all.

The beach is just a magnet. Every Sunday there is frisbee, in the summer, families have barbecues. There is a canoe, Kayak and bike rental. Bonfires, guitars, dogs, tai chi - you name it, you will find it here. And the large parking lot it also the trail head for one of the best hikes - the Big River Trail. We often bring a shaker of our favorite cocktail here at sunset and sit on a driftwood tree to celebrate any thing that comes to mind!
