Art often imitates nature, but less common is nature imitating art, especially the art of the ribald. But in Thailand anything is possible including, on Koh Samui, the natural geological formations known as Hin Ta and Hin Yai Rocks (the Grandpa and Grandma rocks), which look, respectively, like male and female genitalia.

Hin Ta Hin Yai are the most famous and most visited rocks in Koh Samui. Reminding the shape of the male and female genitals, Grandpa and Grandma rocks are located at the end of Lamai Beach. A legend writent on a board there tells the story of an old couple, Ta Kreng (grandfather Kreng) and Yai Riem (grandmother Riem), who lived with its son in the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat. When their son arrived at the age when it was time to marry, they decided to go by boat to the neighboring province of Prachuap Khiri Khan to ask for the hand of Ta Monglai's daughter. During their trip, their boat was caught in a storm and they were thrown into the sea.

Interestingly shaped rocks at the end of Lamai beach. This place is highly visited, mainly at sunset. There is a legend that the father Ta Kreng and the mother Yai Riem sailed across the sea with their son to ask the girl of his dreams for her hand. However, his parents drowned during a great storm and transformed into the rocks on the coast of the island. The rocks therefore stand until today as proof of their good intentions. Be sure not to miss the viewing point, which is located on the highest rock. From here there's a wonderful view over the whole beach. There is a small entrance fee. Szabo, Pavel.
