Eyrie: "the nest of an eagle or other bird of prey, built in a high inaccessible place". 1100 metres above sea level, perched at the top of Abbott’s Peak, is the Eagles Eyrie: a large glass and timber building housing a café and restaurant, with large viewing platforms for taking in the breathtaking panoramic views over Tasmania's southwest wilderness.

Parks & Nature

This short nature trail follows the Junee River through rainforest and open woodland.  The track arrives at the entrance of the cave where the river rises to the surface after travelling 30 kilometres underground through a system of almost 300 caves.

This is a moderate short walk beside the Tyenna River to impressive falls surrounded by fallen logs, ferns and rainforest trees. The walk passes through groves of tree ferns and immense swamp gums.

This world heritage-listed park has a wide variety of waterfalls, wildlife and vegetation, ranging from tall swamp gum forests and massive tree ferns at the base of the mountain, through to rainforest and alpine vegetation at the higher elevations. The lower section near the park entrance includes picnic facilities and the famous Russell Falls. Stunning walks through enormous fern forests and some of the tallest trees in the world are available in this area. The upper section at Lake Dobson includes long day walks and skiing areas.
