On the front in Las Negras this is restaurant on two levels serving contemporary Spanish food. It is not a budget restaurant but the food is excellent and the view over the bay is beautiful. You can also enjoy tapas and a drink in their bar next door.

This is hidden gem in a very unassuming spot on the road into San Jose. Perfect for a romantic dinner for two in their quiet, tranquil garden. The food is delicious and the staff friendly and discreet.

We have been going to this restaurant for years. Situated on the harbour in San Jose it serves standard Spanish fare at a good price. We have always enjoyed very good paellas and see food here and the very friendly owners provide brilliant service.

Situated in the middle of the beach, directly on the beach this restaurant is great for drinks & a tapas or a long meal. There are beautiful trees to provide shade and the kids can continue to play on the beach while you sip your drinks!

Monsul is one of the beaches accessed via San Jose. It is set in stunning volcanic scenery and has provided the backdrop for many films (including Indiana Jones). Take a cool box and spend the whole day sunbathing, body boarding, dune surfing and rock pooling.

This small cove is only accessed on foot or from the water. It is a 45 minute easy walk from Agua Amarga village and is often listed on Spain's top beach lists. Leave the village early and you might even get it all to yourself!

Rodalquilar is situated in the centre of the park and is home to the main tourist information and administration centre. Here they often show local artists work in temporary exhibitions. Very close to this building is the botanical gardens. Perfect for a stroll around on a quiet afternoon it showcases plants specific to the region and climate. Rodalquilar was also an old gold mining town and it is still possible to drive up to the old mines at the back of the town. A very interesting trip for those interested in the history of the area.
