Maybe the greatest urban park in the world. Too big to walk around in a day. Bikes are good, but expect some uphill.

Very near. You'll enjoy the Emily Carr paintings if nothing else. Her work almost defines the area. Robson Square (on both sides of the VAG) is, for all intents, the heart of the city and worth a look.

It's all around you when you're downtown. You can walk parts of it, ride a bike over most of it; in our minds it's the single best way to get a sense of Vancouver.

A great way to see the city from sea level. Will get you to Granville Island and the market there.

Kinda crowded, especially on the weekend, but an amazingly good market, and lots of interesting shops. Take one of the False Creek ferries to get there.

This is gonna cost you, but it's an outside elevator, and maybe the best central view of the city's setting you'll find. At the Harbour Centre Tower on Hastings Street.

Neighbourhoods

Kind of touristy, but well-preserved as the site of the original town.

Funkier, more 'political,' less corporate than many Vancouver high streets.

You're on the eastern edge of it. Take a walking tour by heading 2 blocks over to Robson Street, turning left. The 'upper' end of Robson is Vancouver's Rodeo Drive; the lower end has all the Asian eateries you'd ever hope to find. Go south on Denman to English Bay, where you can chill while enjoying the beach view, especially at sunset. Don't miss the 'Laughing Men.' Head east on Davie, up to 'The Village,' changing now from what was originally called the 'Gay Village.' Complete the loop by walking back along Burrard to The Electra.

Fallen upon harder times lately, especially with the pandemic, but still interesting historically, and the Sun Yat Sen Garden on Carroll Street is a highlight.

City/town information

If you want to get out of town, this is probably it. Better in summer than winter, in our minds. A spectacular drive up there too, along the coast.

旅行者へのアドバイス

必要な持ち物

Bring some good walking shoes.

The entire downtown peninsula, along with the West End, is walkable if you're physically up for it, and with the exception of the Downtown East Side at night, safe. We're told that only Johannesburg and Sydney can rival Vancouver for the beauty of its geographical setting, and who are we to argue.
