Sightseeing
Kananaskis Provincial Park surrounds the Bow Corridor and the towns of Deadman's Flats and Canmore. It expands in all directions and offers hundreds of trails and sightseeing opportunities. Activities range from short walks to difficult scrambles and hikes, back country skiing, river surfing and kayaking, ice skating and awesome nordic skiing. Some maps and guidebooks are available in the suite and there are some great online resources. Please take the time to look online to ensure there are no wildlife closures in the area you plan to explore.

Dead Man's Flats is a community just minutes down the highway from Canmore. It is surrounded by provincial park boundaries and is about 10 minutes to the Banff Park Gate. There are some beautiful river trails and easy walking or driving access to some amazing trails in the Wind Ridge hiking area. There are some beaches along the river great for fishing and a campfire. There are only a few services here including the cheapest gas in the Bow Valley and a great restaurant. It is a quiet family neighbourhood with a great community feel and only minutes to the busier Town of Canmore and all services.

Banff is another great town situated inside the Banff National Park Boundaries. Explore amazing shops, restaurants, galleries and museums. Take a gondola up Sulphur Mountain or explore the historic and beautiful Banff Springs Hotel.

The Lake Louise area is a "do not miss" if you want to see some of the surreal colours of the glacier lakes or hike some spectacular trails. While Fortress, located on highway 40 in Kananskis used to be a fantastic ski hill that seemed to always get a lot of snow, it is now reserved for CAT skiing only. If you have the opportunity, this is amazing fun for for powder seekers!

Norquay is a great family option with a good beginner lift and some great more advanced options. While smaller than the larger resorts in the area, it is a local favourite for families and is very close to Banff. It is the only hill in the area that offers night skiing. Check out some of their "kids make their own pizza" times. This is a very busy place with no reservations so plan to wait during busy seasons. I believe this is a nut free facility and offers vegan and gluten free options. In my opinion this pizza is much better dine in option than take away.

Both lead to Grassi Lakes. These are very cold lakes more for viewing than swimming.

Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise
These communities are all extremely busy, especially in the summer months. Parking can be difficult and expect to leave very early in the morning if you wish to get parking in Lake Louise. There is a Roam bus service between Canmore, Banff and Lake Louise which may be a great option that will also take limited. bikes. Lake Louise also offers a shuttle service to access some of the busier areas like Moraine and the Lake. Winter shuttles to all the ski hills are also available.
There is a great paved bike trail between Canmore and Banff if biking is in your plans.

Mountain Weather
I would always recommend bringing a variety of clothes on any outing. The mountain weather can change quickly and dramatically so please be prepared. Never hike with out proper footwear, warm clothes and some food and water.
Even on very hot days, the evenings can cool off quickly so be sure to pack a few warm clothes even for you summer holiday.

The summer months are very busy here so if you are here for a short stay and there are any restaurants you wish to try please reserve before you come! Not all places take reservations but those that do, can be booked up well ahead of time.

Wildlife
We share these beautiful mountains with a lot of wildlife. You are in bear and cougar country. These animals don't typically pose a threat but it is important to be prepared. A bear spray is provided for you in the suite. Please familiarize yourself online with it's use. Don't travel alone and make lots of noise! Update yourself on wildlife closures with Kananaskis Provincial Park and Banff National Park.

Thursday Market Day
Over the summer months, Canmore hosts a market day outside of Elevation Place. The market has many local artisans, farm fresh produce, food trucks and entertainment. Popular with locals and visitors, this a great place to hang out for awhile.

There are amazing places to eat in all the Bow Valley Towns. While you do have a full kitchen, I have a guest manual in the suite that provides numerous suggestions on restaurants in the area. I love good food and am happy to provide suggestions!

Adventures
There is no lack of organized adventure in the area. Included in the suite manual are some resources for the different companies offering guided adventures. Paddle boarding, white water rafting, cave tours, climbing adventures and ski touring, sled dog tour are among some of the great activities.
