Brijuni Islands is an extraordinary combination of natural and cultural heritage. The mild climate and favorable geographical conditions, deep bays and  well defended high altitude locations, ensured the continuity of human activities on the island from prehistory to recent times. The relatively small islands, covering an area slightly larger than 7 km2, have about a hundred of sites and buildings of archaeological, historical and cultural value. From ancient Roman villas, palaces of the Illyrian, Byzantine fortresses, a medieval church to the luxurious presidential residence, which was visited by the most powerful politicians and the most famous stars of the 20th century.   A mild Mediterranean climate makes it a pleasant and healing place. Here there are almost 700 species of plants and 250 species of birds. Brijuni consists of 14 islands of which the largest is Veliki Brijuni.   The usual half-day introduction to Brijuni is conducted on a tourist train through the different natural beauties, through the safari park, the Byzantine castrum, the Roman residential villa in the Verige Bay and many other interesting sights. Along the harbor, there are the hotels "Istra", "Neptune" and "Carmen" and the church of St German from the 15th century in which there is an exhibition of Istrian frescoes and glagolitic monuments. Nearby is the natural, archaeological museum and the exhibition of "Tito on Brijuni".

One of the most 'photogenic' towns in the Mediterranean, once a fishing town, today is a tourist resort. At a distance of some 40 kilometres from Pula, Rovinj-Rovigno has long been known as the town with favourable and beneficial climatic features. So, today its people are still proud of this long tradition and 'fight' for the title of 'healthy town'... The rest is nature’s work. The entire coastline, with its twenty-two islands is an area of protected natural heritage.

It was built in the 1st century AD during the reign of Emperor Vespasian, at the same time as the magnificent Colosseum in Rome. The ground plan is elliptical, the longer axis measuring about 130 m and the shorter one about 100 m. Gladiator fights took place in the central flat area called the arena, while the spectators could sit on the stone tiers or stand in the gallery. It is believed that the Amphitheater could seat about 20,000 spectators. Local limestone was used for its construction. In the Middle Ages it was the site of knights tournaments and fairs. Today, it is the venue for many different events – Pula Film Festival, various concerts, opera, ballet, sports competitions… since its capacity is about 5000 spectators. Every week during the summer months, the Arena hosts gladiator fights as part of the historical and entertainment spectacle “Spectacvla Antiqva”. The underground passages, once used by the gladiators, nowadays host a regular exhibition of viticulture and olive growing in Istria in ancient times. The exhibits include reconstructions of machines once used for the production of olive oil and wine (mills, presses, vessels) and amphorae used for storing and transporting olive oil and wine. The Amphitheater is situated outside the old city walls because of its size and geographical configuration. The road that leads to the center was constructed during Emperor Vespasian, after whom it was named – Via Flavia. Even today it represents one of the main city roads. Meet the mystical world of nature which has been developing for thousands of years, far away from the light of the day and the human eye. Visit the underworld the Baredine Cave. This cave is a treasure chest of stalagmites and stalactites, underworld sculptures created through time by the patient work of water. Such shapes have been created, some of which are exceptional, such as the 10-meter long and high curtains, a very realistic sculpture of Our Lady, the body of a milkmaid called Milka, the leaning tower of Pisa and snowman the torchbearer who has become the trademark of our cave.  An interesting detail of this adventurous trip is also the encounter with the underground world of animals: visitors will see the cave olm (Proteus anguinus), endemic of the Dinaric karst area. Visit The cave is a geomorphological monument of nature since 1986, and it has been opened for visitors since 1995. It is situated in the western part of Istria between the towns of Poreč (8km), Višnjan (5km) and Tar (5km). The sightseeing lasts 40 minutes; visitors descend along a 300m long pathway up to 60m below the ground and an underground lake and visit five beautifully decorated chambers. Guided tours start every 30 minutes with a guide (included in price) in the following languages: Croatian, Italian, German, English, and Russian. The cave is well lit and equipped, the paths and stairways have a firm railing, and the temperature is very pleasant at 14˚C so that it can be visited without special clothing of footwear.
