Take the Tramway in Palm Springs to the top of the World.
The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, is the largest rotating aerial tramway in the world. Opened in 1963 as a way of getting from the floor of the Coachella Valley to near the top of San Jacinto Peak. Before its construction, the only way to the top of the mountain was to hike hours from Idyllwild. The rotating cars were added in 2000.

Geologically speaking, Giant Rock in Landers is roughly seven stories high and covers almost 6,000 square feet. Some say it is the largest freestanding boulder in the world. Nice area to taste pure desert and to play with toys (dirt bike etc.)
