The beef and mushroom pies and the pork and fennel sausage rolls are to die for and the sourdough bread is amazing! Yummy coffee and great staff all managed by the capable Catherine. Its like finding Melbourne or Paris on your doorstep in Port Macquarie!!

Very romantic view at sunset by the window. (must request a window seat if there are two of you) Great Thai food but the deep fried fish with payaya salad and a bowl of rice is my favourite meal in town! Must book

This hotel has just finished a major renovation - it is beautiful! For an afternoon drink, dinner, breakfast or wedding - located on the river beside the marina - we are so very lucky to have this sophisticated stylish Hamptons hotel in our area. Enjoy a glass of champagne out by the pool and watch the dolphin pop up and down in the river or sit around a table fire with a beer and watch the yachts coming and going.

Very high end but worth every penny!! The tooth fish just melts in your mouth and the deserts are a work of art!
This is a fabulous cafe located at the surf club just walking distance from my place. Watch the wales in season, enjoy great coffee from 6am and they have a great breakfast and lunch menu.

The Glasshouse has a stunning theatre space, hosts lots of great plays, ballets and shows and also enjoys a purpose built art gallery. Great shows, fabulous exhibitions and an iconic building in the centre of town. It just about bankrupted the local council but we locals absolutely love it!!

Majestic cinemas
Clarence Streetfive cinemas - lots of choice and of course yummy choc tops!
Very Old School - one enormous ornate theatre and a little Deluxe cosy theatre. Normally this iconic cinema has a very good selection of art movies but in the school holidays it is all kids stuff - they make their own choc tops!!

Shopping
Wauchope has grown into a little boutique town. Lots of lovely cafes and unusual shops. It takes about 30 minutes to drive there from the CBD but is worth the effort. Elements of Design and Elements of Zen is a homeware shop at the top of my list - but I always get my Christmas surprizes from the Hastings Co-op - an old school department store in the main street. Watermans and the Living room are delightful for brunch and the Italian Terracotta Trattoria is the best choice in my opinion for dinner - the lemon risotto with prawns is so delicate and delicious!

A great spot on the river for an afternoon drink or an early pizza. At least once every two visits we see dolphin feeding in the river while enjoying our five o'clock treat! This casual comfortable bar often has music and is very popular with the locals.

Getting Around
I have a bus stop right outside my door. Tthe bus leaves around the hour every hour and goes to the CBD of Port Macquarie. It leaves the CBD at 22 minutes past the hour every hour and brings you home. (but you have to remember to cross the road from where it drops you off in town. ) We have many taxis and they are easy to summon. The train to Sydney and the gold coast leaves from Wauchope - there is a bus from Port Macquarie to connect with this train when it is coming and going.
