This is about one block from the cottage, great place to people watch, ride bikes on the bike path, check out the weight lifters at Muscle Beach, visit the spot where they filmed Baywatch for years. Also some inexpensive souvenir shops

Great place for shopping, eating, and movies! Very close to the Santa Monica Pier which is a fun place to take kids, also close to Tongva Park- another kid pleaser. A MUST for Serious shoppers. Amazing and gigantic outdoor mall with restaurants, movie theaters, tons of outdoor space for the non-shoppers. This is my GO-TO place for shopping on the Westside.

Bike to the Pier and the kids will love you for it! Rides, food, games- it's got all that and more. Great photo ops, great little kids roller coaster, a whole section for little ones too.

These are not the most expensive but still great and close by. Also don't miss "First Fridays" on Abbot Kinney Blvd., LA's Premier Food Truck event. Go hungry! They take the entire street and turn it into a Gourmet Food Truckie's heaven.
