Fun & Fitness

Family and dog-friendly beach just 290m from Seaview's front door. Offleash hours 5am - 9am & 5pm - 8pm. Early morning is the best time to spot the families of dolphins surfing the waves. Grab some old body boards if you have kids as they'll love sliding down the sand dune at the north end of One Mile.

Half an hour from Forster, towards Taree, is over 70km of well-maintained trails. Fast and flowing, the trails are all interconnected. The 5km and 10km loops are fine for beginners, and the more techie 15km & 20km loops have B-lines for everyone not crazy enough to attempt the purpose-built jumps, bridges, wall-rides, drops and roller coasters.

A dog-friendly walk, you can start from One Mile Beach and climb the sand dune or, if that's not for you, walk along the path at the entrance to One Mile Beach from Sea View, then along the boardwalk from the carpark next to the golfcourse, walking up the road and turning right towards the top of the dune at The Banksias. At the top of the dune, follow the path up and along the headland to Bennetts Head Lookout. There are also a couple of little lookouts along the way. If you want a longer walk, continue down Bennetts Head Rd, turn off into Frewins Walk, walk past the Tanks and Pebbly Beach, and head past Forster Main beach. Walk around the back of the surf club which takes you along another track which leads to the breakwall. From Sea View along One Mile & back: ~3km From Sea View to Pebbly Beach & back: ~6km From Sea View to breakwall & back: ~10km

Food scene

Consistently good coffee, yummy food, fast service, with a view that you never tire of, and dog-friendly. It's pretty busy and you may have to wait for a table because of COVID rules, so take a walk on the beach (or along the boardwalk if you have a dog) whilst you wait. It'll be worth it :)

Anatolia caters largely for take-away but you can also eat in. As long as you're relaxed about table service, this place is a must. Their Mixed Platter is delicious and ample to share between two, and you can't leave without buying a container of Turkish Delight for just $5.

A little over 20 mins from Forster is this little dog-friendly gem of a cafe at Blueys Beach. Delicious Indonesian inspired menu - their Nasi Goreng is a must-try. Definitely make a booking, especially if you plan to go there for dinner.

Sightseeing

An moderately easy uphill hike (500m) through littoral forest is worth the effort for the views at the end. Climb the 8.4m tower for spectacular 360-degree views along the coast.

A dolphin watch cruise is a must whilst in Forster, and a definite must during whale migration season (June through to November). It's one thing to watch whales breaching from the patio at Sea View, but a whole different experience to witness the sheer size of these amazing creatures up close! Word of advice: even on a calm day, and even if you don't usually get seasick, go to the local chemist and get some travel-sickness pills to take before the cruise. It's just not worth the risk!
