Added on to the south side of the South Dining Hall 1998, Reckers is named after the University’s first student, Clement Reckers (check out the plaque outside the entrance for his story).
Reckers’ operating hours, comfortable seating (available both inside and outdoors on a large patio), and made-to-order menu make it a popular hangout, but not only for students, faculty and staff—the public is welcome here, too.

Main Building
With the glistening Golden Dome and ambitious gables and spires, this resplendent building is Notre Dame's capitol. It serves primarily as a headquarters for administration, although it still contains classrooms, harking back to a time when it was a crossroads where students learned, ate meals and resided. This structure is actually the third building to stand on the site. It was built in 1879, the same year in which the previous building was destroyed by fire. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. The Golden Dome was added to this building in 1882 and was most recently regilded in 2005.
