Sightseeing

Khao San Road - The popular book 'The Beach' famously described Khao San Road as "the centre of the backpacking universe". Judging by the truth-seeking travellers who converge here to shop, exchange tales and prepare for their next stint on the backpacker trail, it's a phrase that sums it up pretty much perfectly. BTS from Asoke to Saphan Taksin 22 minutes, 40 baht (not counting transfer time at Siam), plus about 25 minutes on the Chao Phaya boat (not counting waiting time), 14 baht, plus 10-15 minute walk.

Set in 320 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens on the outskirts of Bangkok, its success or failure in this lofty ambition is not clear. What is, however, is that it succeeds at preserving Thailand's singular heritage, its wonderful art, customs and culture for future generations.Opening Hours: 08:00 - 17:00 Location: Samut Prakan, Bangpoo How to get there: Taxi is probably the best way to go.
