Food scene with Home Grown produce served in its Kitchen & Bakery, vast Gardens to explore and more.

Heligan is well worth a visit. It is one of the finest gardens in England with much to explore and see. Its own introduction notes that it is one of the most mysterious and romantic estates in England - so really, how could I add to that? Families are welcome with adventures to be had down in the jungle, or on the farm with animals to be seen in the fields and woodland with foraging pigs looking for nuts and roots, Rare Breeds, a Poultry Orchard and much more. Dogs are welcome too, but not in either the Heligan Kitchen or Steward's House Tearoom. Please visit their website for online pre-booking and further information.

It is possible to walk from Looe to Polperro, with an estimated walking time of about one & a half hours, although it is unsuitable for families with children, prams & pushchairs and also wheelchairs. It is an unspoilt 13th century fishing village, with a history of tales of fishing and smuggling through time. Only a small village, it is very pretty and sits nestled in a cliff ravine. The car park is at the top of the village, with plenty of space.

Port Isaac is a small fishing village on the Atlantic Coast of North Cornwall and has become a popular location for both films & television and the setting for the fictional Portwenn from the TV series Doc Martin. It is also the home of Fisherman's Friends, who would sing their Shanty songs down on the Platt every Friday night. If you are lucky and it is the right time of the year, you may see pods of Dolphins playing or Basking Sharks. I have been lucky enough to see both. Parking is just out side the village, where you will also find a play area.

Just a 20 minute or so walk from the Cottage sits Tintagel, steeped in its myths & legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. There are varied shops and eateries around the village, but of course, it is most famed for its Castle which attracts many visitors every year. The new bridge, which opened last year was a real engineering feat and took months to complete, finally being opened in August 2019. The Island has much Archaeology value and there have been finds, for example, of Mediterranean oil & wine jars amongst the treasures. In recent years Tintagel was the setting for the 2019 film 'The Kid Who Would Be King' and also, a few years before that, parts of the area around Tintagel were used as locations for the Bad Education Film.
