Saint-Maxime is a commune in the Var department of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in Southeastern France. It is only a half hours drive from the house (traffic permitting)! Located on the French Riviera, 90 km west from Nice. Its inhabitants are called Maximois or Maximoises in French. There are some good family beaches along this strength of the Mediterranean. Several of the restaurants are on the beaches and make a lovely beach day out. From Saint Maxime it is possible to take the ferry that runs every 15 mins over to Saint Tropez. The enjoyable ferry ride is about ten to fifteen minutes long.

Saint Maxime has a family orientated feel to it and there are many sandy beaches along the coastal front that are perfect for a beach day. There are good restaurants within the village and several lovely ones situated on the beaches. In season you will find a market at Saint Maxime everyday from Tuesday to Sunday.

Domaines Ott is 6 mins up the road from the Bastide. Closes at 7pm. Well worth a visit for some wine tasting.
