Plain Hardware does have the basic hardware essentials but is also so much more than that with a cute and well stocked gift shop, coffee bar and seasonal cross country ski rentals (trails are right across the street). The store next door will provide basic groceries (and only frozen meats, etc).
It’s a great place to stop on the drive in to Leavenworth if you take Chumstick highway. I recommend taking different paths to and from Leavenworth so you see the mountains through Chumstick (also wineries and Reindeer farm on this path) and highway 2 provides beautiful views of the river.

This is a great, very small local shop to grab some quick snacks, firewood, s’mores fixings, a bottle of wine or local beer and other small essentials. About 3 miles from our cabin.

Leavenworth an incredible Bavarian village and a must see year round. There is always something to see and do, a festival, Oktoberfest, Christmas tree lighting, etc.

This is a wonderful steak house with all the Leavenworth charm. Be sure to enjoy a specialty drink anytime of year, but it the winter months it’s an absolute not to miss. Great for adults and kids with a quant ambiance and charm.

This is a wonderful lake to satisfy all appetites of adventure or a lazy day at the beach. Public boat launch, playground, general store, wonderful beach and lots of trails. It’s so much fun to simply sit out and watch the kit boarders on a windy day.
