The island Lokrum is located only 15 minute boat ride from the Old Port of Dubrovnik. Once you arrive there if you wish you can take a walk along the Botanical Gardens, planted in the 19th century.
The gardens have a few hundred different kinds of trees and plants as well as some peacocks which were also brought on the island more than a hundred years ago.
While there, check ruins of Benedictine Monastery that was built there in medieval times (remains of the old walls are still there, hidden among the vegetation).
A couple of sandwich bar/ restaurants on the island offer basic food and drinks as well as ice creams.

The best views of Dubrovnik and the surrounding area are, without doubt, experienced from the top of the Srd Hill.
The Dubrovnik Cable Car was built back in 1969 and was enthusiastically used by millions of visitors who wanted to enjoy the most beautiful panoramic views. On a clear day, you can see up to 60 km (37 miles). For this reason the neighbouring Imperial Fortress was strategically built on this privileged spot, back in the early 19th century.

The best views of Dubrovnik and the surrounding area are, without doubt, experienced from the top of the Srd Hill.

Cavtat is probably the most southerly Croatian resort of all, located around 20 km south of Dubrovnik and only 22 km from the border with Montenegro.
Cavtat is an exceedingly pretty town, and is a great place to base yourself in if you’re after all the sights and culture of Dubrovnik but don’t want the hustle and bustle.
Cavtat is very easy to reach from Dubrovnik – local bus number 10 is run on this route, with a bus running approximately every hour.
